#241 Re: Guns N' Roses » How do you feel about CD potentially being the last GNR album? » 111 weeks ago
The songs are great, the (over-)production is awful, and it was promised as part if a larger project, so we at least need CD2 for a sense of closure. Preferably as it existed and was intended a decade or more ago.

He, er, does that anyway. Standing around being "deactivated" and then springing into life to shred is kind of the keystone of his stage persona.
For sure! It is just that he seemed so underutilized back then. Not simply waiting to shred, but waiting on others.

And then Axl made the frankly baffling decision to bring Robin back in, and proceed with a three-guitar line-up with two lead guitarists. Immediately, to the press and the wider public, you're implying that Slash was such a towering figure that you need not one but two lead guitarists to replace him. You're belittling your own hires.
This is a great point. In 2002 the stage seemed crowded and the guitarists came across as disconnected. When Bucket isn’t playing, he stands around like the Tinman waiting for oil.
He did a lot of standing around.
Had he been the only lead guitarist it would’ve allowed him to provide a lot more music and charisma.

AI isn't there yet but it will be at some point, fan remixes take a lot more time without AI than I think they will with it. You only need to ask Evader how many hours he plunged into his version on The general. If AI speeds it up there will be more and the fanbase will be flooded.
Very good point about the economy though
Thanks! And yes, Evader does great work.
What might be a real innovation is if AI can be used to boost the audio range of mp3s (like the storage locker tracks) to CD quality. Not so much create new music as restore lossy recordings to full glory. Like a 4K video remastering.

I don’t think AI will diminish the value of real leaks any more than fan remixes or recreations of songs (like “The General”) have done so.
But further contraction of the economy might make some people willing to share what they have for money.
It would have to be done without the nonsense that investors experienced in 2019 when trying to buy the storage locker songs. As the saying goes, “No Chicanery!”
But if we got some real evidence of what is “out there” — at minimum a few clips, the CD2 cover art and booklet — I am sure some level-headed investors could pool their resources and make it worth someone’s while.
Looking across this thread and the lack of enthusiasm across other sites/Reddit, someone could emerge as a real hero right now!

I'm confused but I think James was saying there's a second album worth of leftover tracks that also leaked around the time of the Cather/Hardschool leaks in the early 2000s but that is less circulated.
Additionally I think I recall MSL saying he had follow up to CD album pre-reunion around the time he had all Axl's documents/laptop or whatever it was and was threatening to release it himself if the band didn't release some details soon. His deadline came and went and all that happened was he became pro-team brazil and Axl all of a sudden. I can only speculate as to why.
This thread gets into the reported documents, allegedly hacked:

Good news if true. Where did you hear this, and are there any details?
Just chatter right now. It amazes me the hoarders still have such a hold on those recordings
This is a ray of hope because God knows the band isn’t giving us any.
Are you hearing only about the two songs or hints of more?

It's interesting how the fan base seems to go through stages of not knowing that the second album has been in circulation since at least 2008.
When did this become a GNR forum meme?

Edit 2
I ask because I have forgot a hell of a lot more than I remember from those days. I was balls deep into a massive pill addiction.
Are there hints that CD2 is “out there” beyond Team Brazil and actually circulating?
I am not sure where The Legend of the Red Panda came from but it seemed to pop up around a Rock In Rio 2000 interview (with Beta, I think) that mentioned “PRL” as the title of a song or possibly album (PRL backwards being LRP [Legend of the Red Panda]).

Kentucky ticket sales are bad. Aside from the blue dots of available seats (practically whole sections) check out the orange dots for unsold “VIP” seats. They are going to need to cut the prices before showtime.
