Wow very sad. Not a huge SG fan but I know a lot of people on here are, who I'm sure it might hit quite hard.
RIP

The thing to me was that Rio3 was a magical show. Debuting new tunes and the first real video of the new band. It was all so exciting. Of course Rio2 was also awesome...so I was one of those people who thought Rio4 was going to feature something special. Maybe a reinvigorated Axl or some new songs or something. Then it turned out to be a lackluster show to say the least.
Hope Rio5 delivers!
I think you're mixing them up. Rio 4 was I think in 06? GNR also played that, it was shortly after their 06 comeback, not a disaster by any means but not Rock am Ring standard either which was only a couple of weeks later. I seem to remember RIR4 had some issues with sound quality on the stream though.
Whichever RIR was in 2011 was the real bad one, forgotten lyrics, splashing through puddles and a yellow rain coat. Debut of Estranged was the only highlight.

I can`t speak for others of course but watching Axl belt out covers does n`t excite me, not even one bit.
Dude has a rare gift, he`s one of the most talented individuals in the music business, many would kill to have half of his talent.
Yet, what does he do with it ? he squanders it singing some bullshit "Big Shot". He wastes sweet fucking time, he should be using to make his own music, on guest spots....
Plenty of artists do a guest spot or collaberate and still manage to make their own music. If Axl wanted to get something out a guest spot with Billy Joel isn't what's stopping him.
For the most part I like to see the guy out there and being well received. He's spent enough of his career being demonised. From a live perspective you can't say he's not making the most of this second wind he's got since the reunion.
My only gripe is why the guy only saves his best voice for AC/DC songs. I don't understand why GNR shows get the cleaned up newer voice meanwhile AC/DC shows get Axl Rose circa 1992? Actually I do understand why but it still bugs me.

There's a documentary on in the UK tonight or tomorrow basically all about how Ivanka is playing the role of first lady.

I`m a casual AC/DC fan at best, my fandom extends strictly to Bon Scott era, not utilising Axl to write songs would be a dumb move from Angus nor do I think Axl would be on board if all he had to do is show up and lay down his vocals.
Axl will interject quality, charisma and personality Bon used to bring into AC/DC. Things that had been missing since Bon`s demise. I don`t think Angus will pass on it.
He might if it means he'll be twiddling his thumbs for a decade while Axl writes some lyrics. Angus is short on time, if he wants to go round again, and it must be a want rather than a need at this stage, then a new album is going to have to be turned round relatively quickly. Not something projects involving Axl are usually associated with.
The lack of pressure to just turn up and lay down pre written vocals on 12 tracks might be appealing to Axl. The removal of responsibility for every note, melody and lyric might be a welcome change for him.

gnr can do another massively successful stadium tour with a proper album release, imo.
I agree. After this tour is over the size of the crowds they play to thereafter is really down to them.
Do nothing and then try do it all again in 2-3 years then yes it's probably going to be an arena tour. Drop an album with a couple of good singles on it and I think they can do another stadium run.

Probably nothing to do with Guns but who knows.
Would a Slash solo record really be on the agenda right now?

Very torn on this one. The problem is there's just no credible opposition to consider voting for. I don't like the way the Tories are handling things domestically however I do think they are probably the best party to take us through Brexit.
Some seem to think this could bring about the end of Sturgeon and Indyref 2 which would be no bad thing.

I've got a show in June I'm excited to see, seeing Axl, Slash and Duff on stage together was something I never thought I'd see live.
I think the reason many returned and then drifted again was that while the characters had changed and old favourites returned it was the same old CD era plot. Virtual media silence, the guy everyone wanted to see back in the band hasn't said a peep in the year he's been back. New music seems like it's a dirty word with this band, a tid-bit every 6 months from Fortus about throwing ideas around. It's all too familiar and takes people back to a darker time.
I firmly believe we will see new AC/DC music with Axl before we get any new GNR material.
