Just been down a bit of a rabbit hole watching some of the nu gnr concerts. Some of them were really good!

They play their songs way better than the covers you hear today. It’s not rocket science.

I meant Chinese songs

I just watched video from House of Blues 2001….Silkworms….hindsight it is fucking rocking. Again, all these songs got neutered…arghhhh

Long and short, my point is I like Silkworms more than Absurd, I like The Blues more than Street of Dreams, and I like Hardschool more than Hard Skool.

Not getting that album out in 2001 fucked us all….band members and fans.

Yeah I think its Peter Scaturro who works for Sony Interactive these days.

In a way the Absurd/Hardschool model of seperate releases works well for the diverse styles.

Like then we don't have to worry if an 'Eye On You' type song goes with an 'Oh My God' song and if that should be before or after a 'State of Grace' or a 'Perhaps'.

I just wish all the songs with vocals would be finished and properly released.

Most of the greatest albums ever are cohesive and have some form of unifying sound. The intent of Chinese was what you have with vocals on the locker tapes….Zutaut said they had a solid 12 at the time. Stinson said the same thing. They were obviously A list off the bat.

Record company intervened and threw the sessions in to more chaos and doubt. Nobody pulled the trigger and in the end, we get a mish mosh Frankenstein album.

I just listened to The General cellphone recording. It’s sounds pretty wicked! Damn we got fucked.

Scraped Shacklers Sorry…look at the credits and there is some dude named Scaturro in there as well.

You could throw Better in there as well even though it is a Finck song. It has a different feel than the core CD songs you hear on the locker tapes.

The songs with vocals on those tapes is Chinese Democracy. The rest should have been the second album

He’s a great bass player and great person to have on your team. I am fan of very little solo music from all of GNR’s past and present members. Sure, there are a bunch of individual tracks that are great. However, the only album I really dig is Izzy’ Ju Ju Hounds record from 1992.

Point being that every song doesn’t need to sound perfect like the studio version. Live should be live and open to whatever the artist is feeling at the time. I already have the albums. Listen to Whipping Post studio version versus AT Fillmore East.

Can somebody explain to me why people think TWAT is so hard to sing? It certainly isn’t as hard as Locomotive or Coma.

As Metalalex said the verses/chorus require a lot of breath control, there's very long passages with no room to take a breath and the melody of the vocal doesn't leave much room for bluffing words.

The real fun and games to me though is the "I would do anything for you" screams in the middle and the end.

The high point of that bit hits around F#5 which is not even possible for most male singers - not only does he hit it but he belts it out with ballbreaking power and intensity and rasp and with a passion that suits the song.

It's towards the top of his range in terms of pitch (maybe not the very top as there's instances of him going even higher in passing) but it's high enough and long enough that one's voice would need to be having a good day and most people just can't do it - let alone in the context of a 3.5 hour vocal marathon.

Nice! I stand corrected. He doesn’t do the Jungle scream either. I understand what you are saying but the large majority of people like TWAT for the lyrics and guitar outro from Bucket. TWAT and Madagascar are the only 2 songs that are worthy of being considered next to Estranged and November Rain. Just my 2

Twat is about Stephanie …..the statement song was Madagascar….pretty obvious
