it's really hard, honestly.

i want to like modern-day wwe... i just can't; they make it way too hard on you.

they overload you with dozens of hours of regrettable filler content each week and expect you to get invested. after watching a 3 hour raw (and having a few beverages), i can't even really remember anything other than the main angles.

braun stroman and roman reigns are having a great feud, though, i gotta admit. samoa joe and lesnar are also killing it.

i'll tune in when those guys fight on ppvs, but smackdown is on right now and i'll be damned if i'm watching it.

doesn't look like a lot of the US dates this time around are selling out. hell, i still haven't bought my tickets for the detroit show.

if the band wants to come back around a 3rd time, they will need to bring something with them -- either izzy & adler, or some new fuckin' songs.

my fear is that things go back to usual after this massive tour finally ends. slash & myles back in the studio and axl back in his mansion, ordering pizza while lurking message boards (or whatever he spends his night doing...).

are we in a timeline where dj ashba gets a call back in a few years for another round of touring, or has axl finally made enough money to never have the need to tour again?

#303 Re: Guns N' Roses » What GNR songs are still in your rotation? » 426 weeks ago

izzy is the george harrison of gnr.

most folks think of the other 2 guys as responsible for all the hits, but their sounds weren't possible without izzy or george.

they had the soul of the band & also balanced everyone out. paul & john needed someone to regulate their differences; axl & slash were the same way. without that middleman, they were left to their own devices. axl, slash, paul and john all released wonderful music on their own, but none of it captured the same magic as when they were together.

as much as i'd love an axl/slash/duff album... i'm not sure of its authenticy without izzy there.

Too much filler. Every other song is a non-GNR song.

They could easily fill 24 hours with every GNR song plus every side project and guest appearance.

Where's "I Will Not Go Quietly"? A great Axl appearance on a non-GNR song.

no doubt. throw some bucket in there for the hell of it. between his pikes, album cuts, praxis and c2b3... he's got enough jams to fill up an entire month.

as seemingly destroyed as the axl/bucket relationship is, when slash got back with axl, i realized anything was possible, and that bucket coming back at some point could actually happen. i guess when slash's contract is up that could be an option, but at that point, axl will have made more money than he'll ever know what to do with... so who knows?

in any case, it will always blow my mind that axl had bucket & brain in his band and only squeezed a few songs out of them. with that talent involved, how the fuck do you not at least base an entire album around them?

each CD lineup should have had its own record -- the beaven album in '99, a bucket/brain album, even a dj/fortus/bumblefoot album.... that's better than stitching together a bunch of fragments and pretending everything was organic.

it goes without saying, but an album right now would set the world on fire. all it takes is a single, video & promotion.

listening to all the old songs just makes me wish we had something new. it's embarrassing to even refer to CD songs as "new" at this point.

I even grew to like breakdown.

Maybe I just needed to get older to appreciate it.

breakdown is one of their most timeless songs.

it won't ever be remembered outside of the hardcore fanbase, but that shit will still sound amazing in 30 years.

in my search for a news article about this mysterious break-in, i found this gem:

https://www.thesun.co.uk/archives/tv/24 … -overdose/

According to the upcoming programme, the problems between Axl and Slash started
when Slash – real name Saul Hudson – overdosed on heroin and died for eight
minutes.

Tom Zutaut, who discovered and signed the band in the 80s, has revealed that
Axl believes he saw Slash’s soul leave his body in the form of a crow and
fly away when he was unconscious and not breathing.

When he was resuscitated Axl became convinced that a new IMPOSTER SOUL
had taken over Slash.

Yeah its highly unlikely that music is up in some cloud or deep web.

i can't remember which forum it was, but i remember a guy who had a mission to search every single torrent file in the world until he could safely determine that chinese democracy was not hidden in any of them. that fucker axl really drove us mad for a bit there.

i actually believe that nut, too -- did a bit of poking around myself on various sites.

the hoarders have shit we haven't heard before, there's no doubt. but i also doubt they ever exchange this media in any way where it's hosted permanently on the web. a fan's best bet would be to show up in brazil and start jackin' usb drives.

once the tour wraps up... where do they go from there?

is there any chance that in 2019 we see dj ashba back in the band with stinson on bass? or is this gnr's farewell tour? axl half-assing his vocals most of the time would suggest he's saving his voice. but for what -- a record, or so he can keep touring?

with all the money he's raked in this tour.... i really don't think he'd see a need to wheel a cover band back out there again, but who even knows at this point.

i do agree that this tour has been slightly underwhelming. it seems like axl & slash both get a huge sedative injection right before hitting the stage; the energy just isn't there most of the time. they sound great, but it's lacking something. there's no edge, no mystery.

part of me wonders if they had a huge promotional campaign ready to go, but tucked it away after they tested the waters and realized this thing could self itself on its own.

the cancellation from axl on kimmel would support this, but it's pure speculation.
