there's a lot from 01-02 that i'd like to see released professionally. it's a shame we never will; the only mentions of that tour going forward will be from delusional message board freaks like us.

hopefully we get a nice blu-ray special for the not in this lifetime tour. this damn spectacle deserves it!

chop up some footage from the best performance of each song and get it in stores. i'd buy a copy without hesitation.

i remember reading the shit out of gnrontour back in the day. the description of the 12/31/2001 show had it sounding like the greatest show in new gnr history.

This show definitely had a harder edge to it – the band wanted to prove that the 12.29 show was a fluke. Everyone was on fire – Axl hitting all his vocals and both lead guitarists shredding every note! One of the night’s highlights was a flawless performance of ‘Oh My God’ – something that hadn’t been pulled off in the band’s previous three gigs. Often during the show Axl would run off to the side of the stage when he wasn’t singing – he was really enjoying watching the band nail every song! At 11:54 p.m. – 6 minutes before the new year – Earl [Axl’s bodyguard] notified Axl that it was close to midnight – the band then launched into an amazing version of ‘Madagascar.’

was axl having his shows pro-shot back at that point? or did that not come until the US tour started?

as weird as that band was, they deserved all the promotion in the world. axl rose and his group of weirdoes could have done iron man numbers if marketed properly. buckethead was still generally unknown to the public at that time... they could have taken full advantage of his amazing gimmick and made him the center of the band. finck was the perfect sidekick.

it's a shame everything was so half assed back then. i don't think axl trusted that band yet.

is getting drunk and posting on forums considered "old" these days?

Also, part of the appeal of GnR has always been their messiness. The drama. This touring band is tight as hell. They sound good. They aren't interesting.  Even Axl fucking Rose is a tamed beast.  Slash, who has always been pretty open with fans and press, is completely mute. There is no transparency.  What you see is what you get and what you get is the same thing every show. What is there to talk about?

i hear ya, but it's kinda refreshing to be in the middle of a gn'r world tour and not be worried about it self-imploding at any moment.

then again, it's hard to have guns without that element.

in any case, i'll be at the detroit show later this year and i can't fuckin' wait. but if they come back again next year without at least a new single... i'll catch it on youtube later.

in all honesty, they get a pretty solid rating for the setlists from not in this lifetime. they busted out coma, double talkin' jive, yesterdays, sorry, this i love, better, catcher in the rye, chinese democracy, there was a time, used to love her, my michelle, etc

now that they're coming back to hit arenas in the same cities, they're gonna have to go a little deeper. the blues, madagascar & prostitute from cd... and pretty much anything we haven't heard in a while from the illusions. an acoustic version of you're crazy would be dope.

they could always make these interesting by doing some instrumental jams of new songs...

pitman was around cuz axl is lazy and needed someone on the payroll just to fidget with all the doodads and gimmicks in the studio. his departure is of no consequence, imo. his best contribution to guns was the wacky "oohhh weeeee oooooh" noises on the verses of the blues back in '02.... which didn't even make the album.

if new music happens these days, it's gonna have to be spontaneous. maybe sebastian will get axl stoned enough one day to call up slash, duff and izzy to meet him in the studio with mike clink...

i mean, who else would produce the damn thing if it ever happened? axl himself? trent reznor? rick rubin?

It must be years since I last heard Anything Goes or Shotgun Blues.

i turned on shotgun blues a few weeks ago and i was shocked at how little i remembered from the song

it was basically like my first time hearing it all over again

and man, i instantly forgot it immediately after listening

great name for a really forgettable song

it's weird. back in the day, i'd jam full albums and live shows start to finish. these days, i pretty much only shuffle around between a handful of songs.

- pretty tied up
- locomotive
- breakdown
- you ain't the first
- it's so easy
- mr. brownstone
- nightrain
- you're crazy (lies version)

from chinese democracy, i really only play if the world and sorry these days. if i got a good buzz going, i might bust out some of the old demos. there was a time (long solo version) gets played a lot. that song is a fuckin' journey, man. arguably axl's strongest vocal work alongside a career-defining solo from buckethead.

#319 Re: Guns N' Roses » Exclusive SiriusXM Concert & Channel announcement » 429 weeks ago

dope news!

The band will also launch a limited-run channel on SiriusXM called “Guns N’ Roses Radio” that will be available from July 13-22 featuring their classic albums, live tracks, rare finds, and influences.

this could be pretty damn interesting depending on what "rare finds" means

i'm hoping it's truly shit we haven't heard before and not just stuff like crash diet or there was a time (bass heavy mix with remixed peacock mating call intro)

also, that poster is fuckin' badass. whoever has been doing the art for this tour is a goddamn maniac. i'd pay crazy money for some of those lithographs.

i've seen a lot of forum communities reborn by moving to facebook or chat apps

the gnr community could be saved by a new record.... maybe even a documentary about the reunion

another round of axl chats after the tour winds down would do wonders as well
