That is why there is a distinct difference in the 98-99 songs (Finck-Tommy-Tobias-Freese : CD, The Blues, TWAT, Catcher, Prostitute and IRS) vs the 2000-2002 Bucket/Brain songs...two different bands really and thus we got two different records mixed in to Chinese Stew.

I actually prefer the 98-99 era songs

Why didn't they bring him back when Weiland left? WHY? Goddamnit, when I think of the opportunities VR has passed up…

I really don't get it either. It's such a waste. But hey, at least we got walking papers now. They are quite great.

Fucking hell, why didn't they get Jeff Angell to front Velvet Revolver?

Watching these videos, I'm thinking exactly the same thing.

The dude sounds like a grittier Scott Weiland with more soul and range in his singing.
VR could've made some great modern rock with this guy up front.

Duff brought him down back in 2003 to try out:

"I hoped at some point I would do something with Jeff; we're good bros and we share a similar path in certain aspects,” he tells Rolling Stone .  “Early on, when we were looking for singers for Velvet Revolver, I brought Jeff Angell down, about 2003.  I've had a relationship with him and wanted to work with him for that long."

LOUDWIRE: WALKING PAPERS PREMIERE LYRIC VIDEO FOR "THE WHOLE WORLD IS WATCHING"

Seattle is a cornucopia of musical talent, especially in the rock genre so it’s no surprise that a band like Walking Papers would emerge from the Emerald City. Featuring bassist Duff McKagan (Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver) and drummer Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees, Mad Season), as well as singer-guitarist Jeff Angell and keyboardist Benjamin Anderson (both of the band the Missionary Position), the members of Walking Papers have impressive resumes, to say the least.

After being issued independently late last year, Walking Papers’ self-titled debut album is getting a full-on release via Loud & Proud Records on Aug. 6. The disc has been mixed by veteran knob-twiddler Jack Encino (Soundgarden, Nirvana).

In anticipation of the disc’s release, Walking Papers are teaming up with Loudwire to exclusively premiere the lyric video for the lead single ‘The Whole World’s Watching’ (watch below). And as if their lineup wasn’t already stacked in their favor, ‘The Whole World’s Watching’ also features a guest appearance by Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready, who lent his talents to a few songs on the disc to help out his friends.

The lyric video for ‘The Whole World’s Watching’ is set to an ominous black and white backdrop reflecting a barrage of harrowing scenes from riots and social inequality to greed and poverty, as the evocative lyrics ring out through Angell’s voice: “Change occurs / When the pain of doing the same thing /  Is worse than /  The fear of change. /  Isn’t it strange the change ain’t happening.”

“It’s with great pleasure that we are share the debut of ‘The Whole World’s Watching’ lyric video with our friends at Loudwire,” says Walking Papers singer-guitarist Jeff Angell. “As for the song, it was inspired by people around the world who have the courage to stand up for their beliefs and make their voices heard. We hope that ‘The Whole World’s Watching’ shows our support for them and encourages others to follow their lead.”

With a swanky beat and vintage guitar riffs capped off by a sick solo mid-song courtesy of McCready, ‘The Whole World’s Watching’ blazes a trail of blues infused, down and dirty, ass-kicking rock, led by Angell’s commanding vocals.

In addition to their debut disc, Walking Papers have a busy summer lined up. They’ll be joining Alice in Chains and Jane’s Addiction on the 2013 Uproar Festival set to kick off on Aug. 9 in Scranton, Pa.

Saw them play in a tiny little pub in Dublin last night. Met Duff very briefly before hand just exchanged a quick hello as he was on the phone, very cool. The best thing Duff has done since 1987.
Powerful powerful band. The real deal.

I'm on team richie here. Slash could leave guns a hundred times over and i'd still say "Axl can hold his own" but when richie leaves Bon Jovi, it's time to call it a day

Thank you that was helpful. I still don't see why you can't just screenshot the pms?

Because I don't have them.  Thus why I can't prove anything.

Ah.... Now I follow.

There's nothing to take to PMs.  PMs caused this problem to begin with.  It's where they hide knowing nobody can prove anything.  This discussion has to be out in the open.  There is no other way.  Once you guys decided to close the thread to discuss it in one place, this is what you're going to get.  My advice: reopen one place to discuss it.  It's not going away.  It's not just going to be forgotten, so you may as well just let it be dealt with until a resolution can be made.

???

Just press the new thread button and dish the dirt and lets get it over with
