Just listened to this for the first time. Not digging it too much. The song is good at its core, but the massive cut and paste ruins any flow. You can hear each spot where something was added and it makes it sound awkward. Its like the song constantly starts and stops, then starts again.

This album needed a better producer. The people involved in 99-01 should have been brought back to mix these new additions in to these songs.

Goddamn it, somebody put me in contact with the Guns camp. I'll push the album back 3 months, and go in and mix this bitch.

I wish it was on the weekend.  My wife would probably skin me if I went during the week.  November is a busy month for us.  Both of my boys have birthdays, we are hosting Thanksgiving at our house this year, and I'm going to do a lot of deer hunting come Saturday.  Plus I'm going to Indy in mid-December so I guess I'm going to wait until the 23rd and not go to St. Andrews although as it gets closer I may get the itch.

Alright, you've named like 6 days worth of activities for the month. That's not enough to keep you from going downtown for one night...

Ok ok ok....... so I've listened to the single version of better. It is very very good and a lot tighter than our previous versions. Listen to it through a good pair of monitors or headphones and you can hear how much there is going on.

Now here's my qualm with it: The drums are totally cut and paste. Listen to every time a passage is played multiple times, ie the prechorus. The drums are 110 fucking percent the same. It's not just like the rhythm and fills were played the same for continuity or anything, I mean they're exactly the same. Velocity and all. Cut and paste drums.

I was just going to preorder both versions (since it's on sale...), but I'm not sure which BB I'll be picking it up at.

What the hell do Hinder have to do with anything?? And it's funny that Doug "the doc of rock" Podell is cited in that article. Lol, now I'm thinking of Russ' Podell impression.

I'm in shock that not one person I've talked to (GNR fan or not) hasn't said anything negative about the song and yet every person you talk to does. Law of averages I guess.

+1. Everyone I talk to digs the song.

Well now that Negative-Nancy's gone....

I've heard nothing but great feed back about CD today. One of my employee's (who isn't a GNR fan) came to me telling me how he heard the song on his lunch break and loved it! On my way in to work the DJ on the radio said he would be playing CD again @ 2:20, so I made sure to take someone out to my car with me at that time for a smoke break. Guns got another fan out of that one.

Oh and I sincerely hope that CD is the opener at all future shows. That would just kick ass.

Because, as I've explained, it's a good choice for a first single as well as the first song in a set!

Congrats!  Following up weak with weak and hypocritical isn't an easy thing to do...most people would have let it go at weak.

You state your opinion (your "proof") as though it's fact, then get on me for it?  Again, weak.  Also hypocritical.   There's no point in wasting time on you when you put nothing into it yourself.  Come back with something credible and well thought out and I'll consider actually responding, otherwise, consider this discussion over.

Ok, here's how it works. The record label isn't dumb. They're not going to put poor marketing behind a multi-million dollar project and release a single that will turn people off to the album. That's what a single is: A marketing strategy to sell their product- the album. When the album is completed and they're preparing the  release, they put together a 'listening panel'. The panel listens to the songs and vote on what they think is best, or what they would like to hear. The panel is made up of different sexes, ethnicities, etc. The idea is to get the opinion of the general public, not just the diehards and internet nerds (us.) This is how they arrive at what gets released as a single. Hence, CD won, and as I have previously stated, it has what a single needs. Later on in this thread you said that what you were saying was all your opinion. I called you out because in your original post, nowhere was there a "in my opinion", or "I think..". No, you said that releasing this as a single was going to make the album tank, that this was the next SBQM. You never stated that was just your opinion, you actually said it very matter of factly.
