That was definitely better than the first night.
Slash reads the forums and came up w/ a proper solo overnight
Seriously, that's a good one.

These guys could end up as happy as the Foo Fighters if things keep going the way they are!
Fingers crossed there's good vibes on the Iron Throne

Will he feel Slash's position of fame and popularity is a threat to him etc?
Hardly.
Despite how the public interprets the situation, the fact is that Slash and Duff endorse an Axl-led GNR. By rejoining the band, even as business partners, they have validated Axl's right for the name. Axl is Guns, currently with Slash and Duff.
Axl was irked by Slash's media visibility and he was frustrated with CD himself. He was envious at Slash, then, as Slash's departure had had a direct effect to the sound and production of the would-be CD. Meanwhile, Axl shunned the media and Slash gave the same answer for years - they last spoke in '96 and that was it.
However, Slash went on record for a few years after leaving Guns to say he's available. In the past, he's often self-admittedly tried to act 'cool' on the spotlight. Other times, his substance abuse has caused him to shoot his mouth to an unprofessional degree - of course, those we can include to the perils of rock n' roll decadence. Only Axl took offense.
The crux of the argument, to me, was that they had plenty of unresolved issues when Slash left Guns in late '96. These issues would balloon in the media and would go on to taint the production of CD. You know that album was jinxed, first marred by great expectations and then by indifference. Many times, they made some effort to mend fences. But Axl wanted to be right and Slash wanted to be his own guitarist.
This current arrangement suits both in that sense. Slash regains autonomy, gets a big payday all for himself, and consolidates his legacy as the 21st century rock guitarist with his original, infamous outfit. Axl gets RSVP'd to the top floor of Stadium Rock in a heartbeat. Everybody wants to love his band again.
They can co-exist legally and financially to their mutual benefit. But they need to trust each other, and that's a personal matter.

]I think there's some strategic maneuvering to how the lineup was finally assembled. If you add Matt(or any ex member) it tips the scales on that side. At the moment its about as even Steven as it can get. I know its assumed that Pitman was ditched as a cost cutting measure but maybe there was a bit more to it than that.
That Salon article in Jan mentioned Kushner and Pitman and made it sound like an unofficial press release.
Also, adding Matt into the mix is adding one of Slash and Duff's guys. On a long tour, could end up like UYI all over again with it being Axl vs the band.
One Man Mutiny all over again.
I'd like more info on Tommy's departure and how that played out. I remember an interview last summer where he said something about how they don't even return his phone calls(or he couldn't call them).
This?
"I think that my guess is...that at some point someone is going to call me and tell me what's up with that."
Frank is Axl's guy. And neutral on the Matt vs Steven argument.
Ditto Fortus, Dizzy and Melissa. All employees with Axl as their boss.
My guess is Axl would only give Slash & Duff equal share if he had final say in the rest of the lineup, or something like that.
I would say that's a good guess.

The song that is all Bumble has the worst solo and is the worst song on the album, Shackler's Revenge. That leaves you with live performances
Actually, I felt the 2010 band really tore up Shackler - one of their high points, surely.

Typical defiant Axl, taking his shades off in the middle of the last verse. He was confident, there.

He's at his best vocally since 2010. No doubt about it.
I still rate 2010 higher, but will reserve judgement until the end of this tour.

It's like how bumble plays that fretless monster and somehow hits the right notes. I played it and it feels like a violin with the weight of a semi-trailer.
Bumble let you try it? Nice. But seriously, goes on to show how much work it is to be in this band.
Try wielding that thing for over 2 hours in front of thousands of people while on painkillers and jetlag
Bumble got a lot of flack for being other than Bucket and for his public demeanour, but he's still one mean guitarist.

Axl, I think, passed Shannon Hoon's funeral, too. Arkeen's death occured in around May '97, and Axl was in a state. Slash was gone and a new album was needed. It could've been one of the worst low points in the whole saga for him.
"One in a Million" was written while sitting in the apartment of my friend West Arkeen, who's like the sixth member of the band. - RS, '89
Dang.

Anything but downplaying on my part.
As said, big Finck fan.
Better today sounds different, but that's a natural development (ie, closer to the overall sound of the current band).
It's always going to be Robin's baby, despite who plays it live.

According to Axl, West pretty much wrote the song.
Fortus also wrote parts for Better, and the whole thing was much of a group effort.
