Hannity even showed it in context. Anyone who thinks he was talking about Palin is deliberately bullshitting for the sake of politics. I don't think you REALLY want people to start digging up all the sexist crap McCain has done through the years, such as telling some nasty joke about a woman getting raped by an ape or the crap he said about Chelsea Clinton being ugly because her dad is Janet Reno. Or the crap he's said about his own wife. Or the fact that he responded to a question at a town hall event last year, "How do we beat the bitch?" (referring to Hillary Clinton) by laughing it off instead of denouncing it. Yes, Obama's a sexist asshole that's calling Palin a pig. Fucking ridiculous attack. Even O'Reilly stood up against that shit.

Obama wasn't talking about Palin. He was talking about Bush and McCain's economic policies. Katie Couric and CBS had the video pulled from YouTube because it took her comment completely out of context. She was talking about Hillary Clinton's campaign relying on the "sexism" issue to get votes. John McCain used the SAME DAMN PHRASE to talk about Hillary Clinton's health care plan. Sarah Palin criticized Hillary for complaining about sexism. John McCain made an incredibly cruel joke in 1998 about Chelsea Clinton. He also called his wife Cindy a cunt when she made a joke about his receding hairline years ago. He also dumped his first wife for Cindy because she had a car accident and wasn't attractive enough anymore for him. He also voted against equal pay for equal work legislation. Palin is against it too.

So who's the sexist here? Fucking ridiculous and probably the most hypocritical attack in politics in a long, long time. I said it the day he picked Palin that they were going to try to use any and every little thing to accuse Obama/Biden of sexism despite the fact that Obama/Biden are more feminist in their ideology than Sarah Palin and certainly more than John McCain, who has a history of making sexist jokes about other people's kids, calling his own wife a damn cunt because he can't take a joke, and voting against equal pay for equal work. HYPOCRISY.

Obama's energy policy sucks. Ethanol is an awful alternative and he's heavily pushing it. But so is McCain. Every politician seems to be pushing it so far. The government is heavily subsidizing it, but it's just a terrible alternative for a host of reasons.

As for "middle ground," I don't really think it's middle ground so much as common sense and sticking to the facts of the situation. Neither side seems to be capable of that. There's always an exaggeration in their argument instead of merely sticking to the facts. The facts are that we need to drill and we can do it in an environmentally-friendly manner, but also that we need to continue working on offshore drilling, shale oil in states like Colorado, potentially taking advantage of our huge natural gas reserves, and working on non-fossil fuel alternatives for the medium and long term. All of those things can be worked on simultaneously, but none of them are an overnight savior (except shale oil...which is currently too expensive to consistently make a profit while producing it, but a technology breakthrough will leave us with more oil reserves than the Middle East).

So McCain copied Obama's "surprise" appearance. LOL.
