#411 Re: Guns N' Roses » GUNS N' ROSES Tour To Expand Beyond U.S.; THE CULT To Open Select Date » 528 weeks ago
In my opinion, they are doing The Cult a favor to say "thank you" for The Cult giving GN'R the opener spot back in the day before GN'R turned into a massively popular band.
Yup, they're re-making their history. Just like the $10 gig at the Troubadour, on the 30th anniversary of the original show.
A few shows with The Cult sounds alright. Wonder if Sorum will guest with both - or neither?

Axl opened the Jungle in a historical fashion.
"You know where you are? You're gonna DIEEEE..."
He's done that 'You're in the jungle, baby' a thousand times.
Shows how excited he actually was, as I doubt it was too intentional.

Did you guys see Jesse Hughes was at the show, with his own custom "Pigeons of Shit Metal" T-shirt?
BWhahahahahahaha
classic! Lucky to be alive.
That bombing incident prolly put some things into perspective.
Hope he met Axl and served him a plate of Humble Pie.
Always felt the Pigeons conundrum was an aggravated Axl firing at bystanders because of his problems with Merck.

So,
It's Axl/Slash/Fortus/Duff/Frank/Dizzy & new girl?
A 7-piece, like the Bucket-less band that nearly toured in '06.
Yay to DTJ and New Rose, but The Seeker? Axl must really like that tune.

So, they made history, then?
Anything special, whose in the band, setlist?
Not bothering to go through a 60-page thread.

I must say I like the name of the tour
Me too.
It was the 'Axl Rose Husband' lifetime with Lana Del Ray, in April 2012.
TMZ helpfully uploaded the old news in August, 2015. Happy accidents, eh?

Sorry for fanning the flames a bit on my part. Prolly read one depressing headline too many today.
I get the history aspect of Show 1 and the desire to soak in the atmosphere. Still, let's face it. It's a nostalgia trip, like the recent Monty Python performances. Guns are retro, and this is hardly like opening for the Stones in 1989, at which point they were at the cusp of making history.
Now they are - relics of a bygone age. This will be the last configuration through which this band will likely go, hopefully with grace and dignity. There's little point to let go Slash again, regardless how long they'll put up. Mick and Keef have 18 years on Ax, so it's always possible Guns are still duking it out in the 2030s. If they last long enough, Guns can actually (finally) become the next Stones, as who else would?
Maybe, this will open a door for something other than retirement. Here's hoping.
I get that missing Show 1 despite reports to the contrary would be irksome. But I give you 10 to 1, SG (like most people attending) will be floored the second Slash plays the opening chords to the Jungle with him in the room, even if they'd play two secret shows a night leading up to that.
Chances are, Show 2 (whenever that is) is more qualified in performance, they've had Show 1 to work out some kinks and have thawed the ice based on the response. Plus, I'm personally happy to hear SG got rid of his Coachella ticket and got into Vegas instead - I'm sure it'll be a better show for him, as unlike Coachella, it's going to be all about Guns.
I actually do hope Adler will appear on stage in Vegas. That smile of his would likely light up the whole venue.

So the next time one of you tell me I should be cool with it I will calmly tell you "FUCK YOU, I will feel how the fuck I want and they pulled a bait and switch" etc. me still having fun in Vegas is beside the point. Of course it will be fun. Just not historic.
1st Amendment et al facilitate you to speak your mind, sure.
But a lot of people in this world struggle to feed their families and provide them with shelter, day in, day out.
You're raging because a show you are going to may be preceded by another show.
Allow me to play the world's smallest violin.

Come to think of it, the prospect of a reunion is probably one of the reasons Adler has managed to stay alive. What's commendable about him is that it's possible that he's genuinely in it for the fun of it all, and would likely jump at the chance of paying his own airfare and carrying his own gear if that means playing some Appetite with the boys.
It's too easy to make fun of Adler and this is merely pointing out how far his enthusiasm seems to stretch. Axl, Slash and Duff want to be compensated financially for their troubles, and that plays a part in their respective thought processes. Izzy has his own things. Adler just wants to play. Imagine how he must've felt, sitting out the Illusion tour. Everywhere he looked, he saw his old band, a testament to his own fuck-ups.
Adler brings in his own unique baggage, and would need to prove he's grown into a consistent and reliable performer. Otherwise, people in the band and outside of it will get nervous and he could be removed from the equation real quick in favor of Frank/Sorum on account of being a liability.
