The Sony emails leaked when this was being developed.
They tried to deal with Ivan Reitman, who had first-dips option to direct.
When he stepped down, the Sony folk congratulated one another and even provided a statement for him (he made his own).
Cash-grab.

I also believe that GNR know exactly what they're doing with (lack of) promotion and it's working really well.
They are certainly well-versed with that strategy.

How so? & what would it matter anyhow?
The Twitter conundrum with Izzy and Pitman is less than ideal. Granted, gen pop doesn't give a toss, but the forum peeps do. We're the minority for sure, but we always feel the shockwaves before they really set in. The shows may go out swimmingly for all we know, but I have an ominous feeling that's proving hard to shake. Just look at the band's track record.
But we'll know better next month, come what may.

Booze makes one more blunt. He prolly still thinks it's an AFD cash-grab (when has that ever happened), but now sees it's a bad idea to say it out loud. He apologized for that, me thinks. And he still gets shafted. What is he to do, then?
I see big warning signs here - beyond Pitman. The first show is 5 weeks away. We are without a peep from Slash or Duff, in social media or otherwise. Just a pic or two of them goofing around in the rehearsal (sans Axl, if needs be) would do well. It would be a cool way to confirm the rehearsal lineup, too. But this silence is starting to turn against them, I think.
The prolonged silence and the silly notion of mystery are typical Guns, and it has backfired numerous times over the years. I was hoping Slash and Duff could alleviate that a bit. Lesson learned.

On the panhandling front, at least.

Duff's helping his mates out. Last I heard, he was in talks to write a book about AIC.

Quality journalism as British tabloid The Mirror lets us know how Izzy's appearance has developed over the years.

Fans will be hoping the guitarist - who still looks as effortlessly cool as ever - will be part of the comeback shows.

From the way this is going, it was obvious this wasn't a reunion
Glad to see you're sharing that sentiment. Anything beyond it tho, time will tell.

you never knew if Izzy would be there or not or if he'd remember the song or decide to leave early.
One example: Axl mentioned during the EPIC Rock AM Ring '06 show that Izzy was supposed to be there. That would've elevated it to the de facto gig of the '06 band. Come to think of it, it prolly still is that.
He called, asked to come out and negotiated a deal with management
I heard Merck paid Izzy an obscene amount of money for lending street cred to the '06 band. Axl was oblivious to it, he was just happy to share the stage with his homie.

Others have said it, I'll say it now.
Izzys status up in the air and we're a good month away from the first show.
Looks like jerry-rigging to me. This goes on to say, AFD cash-grab.
They may have pros doing the marketing (Star Wars teaser), but as for the band, it looks like TB shenanigans.
