Where were on the subject just saw this 10min long "Punisher" short fan made movie. The fans who made the movie are Thomas Jane and Ron Pearlman it's quite good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWpK0wsnitc

Everyone talks about the dark knight trilogy as though it's some kind of "dark twist" on the hero story.
This personally pisses me off.
If you want the perfect, the all time perfect superhero watch "Punisher:War-Zone" That's the 2008 one with Ray Stevenson. Fucking immense.
If you're looking for something else in that vein try Spawn, it's shit really, but a cool concept that is somewhat borrowed from the works of C.S. Lewis (maybe).
Seriously though Punisher:War-Zone is the perfect hero flick

Also if you get the chance at some point take a look at the new "dredd" movie. It's like a less violent but better written punisher.
Frank Castle, the "Hero" of the punisher series, is a card carrying psychopath. Dredd is too of course, but he's more limited being in law enforcement and all.

Anyone think Axl is there to rehearse something new for the setlist?
He looks really thin and fit I guess that means Bucket's back.

#494 Re: The Sunset Strip » Soundgarden Discussion (King Animal out NOW!) » 705 weeks ago
I'm on my 3rd listen of King Animal.
It feels like a debut album. Perfect is a big dumb word not really applicable here but the word "Sincere" describes it perfectly. These guys mean every note. You can tell that they aren't phoning this in they're still pushing their boundaries.
They're al in extremely good form. I have never heard such a pure tone from a non trained voice as Cornells performance on "Rowing". The riffs are excellent and still have that "How did they think of that?" quality to them.
The album makes Audioslave 1 feel like a bad dream, and keep in mind that at the time, that album was considered a very good dream.
How is this possible in 2012?
Jesus Blood Dries on the Valley Floor is amazing.

Russia was simply first. China is now doing good after a rough start. Scandinavia is doing even better. Not only are americans becoming more socialized, the vast influx of immigrants are also supporting the move towards a welfare state. There will still be "free markets" and you'll still collect a pay check, but regulation and centralization is increasing all over the world.

Broseph. Let me stop you there. Scandanavia isn't Communist. It's not even a little bit communist. It's left leaning but nowhere near comunism. It resembles the "pseudo communism" that the right wing in america rails against, but it's just middle of the road left leaning. It's not even extreme left. There is no extreme left country on earth.
China on the other hand is in serious shit right now, with a serious falun gong sympathy movemnet going on world-wide as well as the Chinese Party Members Sex scandal (source: http://gawker.com/5935038/china-censors … re-scandal )
There is no fukin way China is still communist in 20 years. China are by my best reckoning an extreme right wing set-up who are hiding within a trojan horse they stole from Lenin. Anyway, America is pushing back the chinese aid intervention in Africa, but to be honest I'd actually rather they kept out of it and France stepped up there. They don't have the population power for all out war down there but that's not the scenario and the French have had a stranglehold on Africa for donkeys years, they seem to be handing over to America in the chinese influx issue there. Fuck didn't Sarkozy order the hit on Gadaffi ?

America is nowhere near a welfare state. England is more left leaning than america even. Fucking England... That's worrying because right now a Conservative Political agenda is useless to America. There is nothing good in the American political system worth preserving nothing on the left or the right. This is why even the Conservatives are running on abstract notions like "hope" . Obamacare is idealistic at best, but would it change the day to day life of the average american tax payer in good health? No. Is it a compromise of American values?
Depends which set of American values you believe in, which is to say it comes down to a matter of opinion, and in America there are two opinions. Middle of the road Left and Middle of the road Right.
When all is said and done they aren't that different.
Possibly the only decent communist experiments were Cuba and for my money Chavez runs Venezuela like a strict Cuba.
What would you like to see? Communism or some other form of Government? I've heard good arguments made for Co-op governments like in anarchism, but that's never going to ( and in my mind doesn't need to) happen.

Communism.
Requires too much trust in the political system. You need to trust the people at the very top with the possessions of those at the very bottom.
It didn't work in russia back in the day why would it work in America today?

If I get to meet anyone, I'll be hoping they have no idea who I am.
Could you image Axl dressing up as Buzz for halloween? That would be hilarious.
Sweet christ I just spotted these now

The Guitar on Vengence is mine from back in '08 was excellent

Yeah, Far and Away is another great choice, something you wouldn't expect from him.
I find AL's solos more constructed and I hear less cliches there. Some songs, like Beautiful Dangerous or Gotten doesn't even have a solo, and Promise almost killed me with that note by note rip-off of Snakepit's Back and Forth Again
Gotten does have a solo. It has the best solo on the entire album. Very Noel Gallagher, simple but overwhelmingly powerful.

I hope I don't sound facetious, but would it be a bad thing in the long run if the current economic system would in fact collapse?
A lot of things regarding a way of life would change with many, undoubtedly.
There would probably be an amount of human suffering, unfortunately. But the current system is not exactly equal, either. Corporations are ruling the show, investment banks wrangle billions out of taxpayers' pocket via the government. If they want it fixed, it's because they like their power structure too much to give it up. The little people seem to be just clogs in the machine.
I turn 27 later this month. I save as much as I can and I feel the system is rigged against me. You can't make any money by saving because interest rates are artificially low due to the Federal Reserve's manipulation. There was a time when you could make a decent amount of cash by saving, but now it's jack squat. They force you to play in the casino known as the stock market. That being said, I am doing the best I can to retire at a reasonable age (50-55) so I can travel the country and world to see places I haven't seen. I do not want to see a collapse that causes me to lose everything or at a minimum causes me to spend a ton of my savings just on basic goods because of hyper-inflation.
I hear you. I think it's just a question of where do we go if it does collapse? What could replace it ya know?
Retirement at 50 would be doing well if this shit keeps up man.
