Guns recently played Marseilles in tribute to the late Doc Neeson of The Angels.
Lemmy was from Stoke, like Slash. There's bound to be a song in the Motörhead back catalogue that would fit. See You on the Other Side would be a good choice, tho.
I'm almost positive Axl and Kimmel will touch upon the subject of Lemmy next week.

I'd love this.
Judging by that recent image and median of performances in between 2011-4, I'm bracing myself for something... less.
Just how it goes. If we're lucky, he'll consider this something more than a cashgrab.

You think Slash would let anyone outshine him on stage like that? He didn't even like having Izzy around.
Fortus playing lead on CD songs instead of Slash, maybe? Just guessing.
While we're at it, you think Slash would like having Izzy there instead of Kushner?
As you said, Slash likes being the top-dog, and the irreverent Mr Stradlin can surely work him up, there.
If true, Dave Kushner could go down as one of the luckiest guys in rock history.
I once read a Contraband-era interview with Kushner that stuck with me.
He was basically saying that off-stage, he was saving his money and erring on the side of caution, because it could all end in a day. To me, it came across as a surprisingly mature approach for someone in his position. He was happy to make a living.
Question, if Slash likes the guy so much why wasn't he part of the Conspirators?
It comes down to a myriad of things like availability, financials and clicking with the band.
The Constipators are different from VR, which was a lot more of a group effort.
Slash plays his own rhythm guitar on his solo albums and only needs a touring member.
I can imagine Kushner found his Sons of Anarchy work more rewarding in many ways.
If he liked Gilby so much why wasn't he in VR?
Gilby was in Snakepit after he was ousted from Guns.
It's funny how he was basically invisible in the press circuit, btw.
He was obviously under orders to keep quiet, even if Slash shot his mouth about Axl and Paul Huge.
This is going to be a reunion lite version and will probably be the death of Adler if he doesn't have some involvement.
My thoughts exactly. We'll know by Coachella what'll happen.
Meantime, always felt an AFD reunion tour would be a pipedream.
The reason: Axl. At the end of the day, it's his call as to who plays in Guns.
In Steven's mind, I'm the one who holds the keys and power over his happiness, so I'm the bad guy pretty quickly.
It's a lose-lose situation for Axl, really. Feeling sorry for Adler is just too easy.

Ha!
Kushner standing in for Izzy!
BLS-Pride wrote:Oh man that must burn Matt's ass real good if true.
No doubt. He doesn't get to be in but KUSHNER does?!
Slash wants Dave, if true.
He's precious about his rhythm players.
Fortus would go more into a Ron/Bucket role in this sort of lineup.

Yeah with Slash and Duff back in it would turn into most anticipated album of 2016 if it gets mentioned by any of those three guys. The general public doesn't even know about it so it doesn't have the Chinese stigma attached to it.
Axl could totally call it 'Guns N' Roses' and get away with it. As a title, CD2 would be a stigma, even if it would be fair considering the origin of the tracks.
Let's say they dropped Atlas Shrugged next month to promote the upcoming tour. That song has a long history for us. To anyone else it's a brand new GNR song featuring Axl and Slash.
Uh huh. This is by far the biggest singular shot we've had for a follow-up album since the Azoff era. Had Axl played ball with him, CD2 would've happened in 2009-10, despite the commercial reception of the first one. Azoff would've been shrewd enough to cut the deal, only it would've meant his terms and a reunion by RRHOF. That old man is out there somewhere, grinding his teeth over these recent developments. He missed out.
Would have been interesting had the reunion happened in 2005-06. CD itself would have been in the same situation as CD II is now.
The Slash guesting scenario has been tossed around since 2001, according to Canter. So it's been within the realm of possibility for Axl since the New Guns were unveiled. Regardless of when it would've happened, some would've seen it as Axl caving in and calling Slash, others would've considered it as Slash caving in and lending credence to Axl's album. Plenty of people would've just been curious to hear the music, tho.

Hopefully that won't be televised.
My point is,
We may get a hybrid lineup.
The world would see it as a reunion.
Axl could see that as 'returning members' / alumni.
We may get new music.
The world would see it as tour promotion.
Axl could see that as a continuation of his vision.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - CD2 as such has little commercial value.
Put Slash on a few tracks and its commercial prospects shoot through the roof.
Showing up on stage with Slash could well be his way to make ends meet.

It would be an absolute gas if Ax would come up and say,
'To me, it's more like getting some of the alumni on stage to get it over with... the whole thing is more about promoting the next Guns album...'

Adler threw Slash and Duff straight under the bus recently. They have no reason to show him any loyalty other than pity and fear that he might do something really bad to himself if they leave him out in the cold.
Yup. There's a good chance that if Adler is left out completely, he'll off himself via accidental OD or something else. The sorry bit about that Slash, Duff or Axl owe him squat. If the man is unable to take responsibility of his own actions after having reached the age of 50, he's less than deserving to reclaim his old spot on the grounds of having been there 25 years ago.
We did do some shows [together with Duff's band, Loaded] in Japan [in 2013], and Duff invited [Steven's current band] ADLER to come down, and I was still drinking then. And the second I got to the airport, I made a beeline for the bar, and I just started doing shots of Jäger. And the whole trip I was sick and I was just a mess... And [Duff] was just so bummed and pissed at me...
And Slash, he doesn't believe that I have 21 months and 21 days sober. He doesn't believe it. I don't know why, but they forget that at one time in their life, they were doing drugs and drinking and they were fucking up.
Adler's argument is that Slash and Duff forget they were all fuck-ups back in the day. Adler himself conveniently forgets Duff has a medical condition for the remainder of his natural life, and that one drink of alcohol may actually kill him. Letting that slide, Adler's defense would only make sense if Duff would be critical on how Adler behaved during his time in Guns - his beef is with those antics in Japan.
Asked if it's true that he recently said that he would kill himself if the classic GUNS N' ROSES lineup reunited without him, Adler said: "I would probably feel like I would wanna kill myself, but I wouldn't. I would probably just kill them. [Laughs] 'Cause if I'm not doing it, they're not doing it. If I'm going down, they're going down."
Adler probably thinks those comments make everyone else fall on top of each other as they rush to give him a contract.
#579 Re: The Sunset Strip » The Star Wars Thread *NO SPOILERS ALLOWED!* » 541 weeks ago
Speaking of McQuarrie (I still need to see the fifth one as well.), there are rumors that he did a re-write on the shooting script for Star Wars: Rogue One which is coming out next Christmas directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla '14 and Monsters). So that means they are taking these films' productions very seriously. Script doctors come in all the time on projects. Also I think McQuarrie is sticking around for the 6th M.I. movie as well.
You might say McQuarrie and other script doctors are the literary equivalents to people like Josh Freese; able to jump in to someone else's circus, figure out what's needed in a potentially high-stress situation and deliver working solutions on cue. These people get paid very well for doing uncredited work; the monetary compensation covers both the lack of public acknowledgment and the slim amount of personal artistic expression. So much for any auteur theories; this stuff is high-end commercial enterprise all the way.*
Also, feature film writing credits (on studio releases, anyway) are arbitrated by the Writer's Guild and they have a strict set of guidelines on who's entitled to what. I get that, because relatively few people can honestly screenwrite, yet many more do try, even on big-budget features. Sometimes, script doctors are even given producing credits to circumvent the WGA arbitration.
I was a bit perplexed about your comment on Disney taking Rogue 1 seriously until I checked the writing credits. Gary Whitta and Chris Weitz. Ugh. Either of those guys is still to impress me as an above-the-line scribe, so McQuarrie is definitely a good person to elevate the material. Good for them Mouse Corp development execs to snap back to their wits.
*You might be curious as to how unceremoniously Josh Trank was sacked from the SW spinoff movie following Rogue 1. Both the box office failure and the dirty laundry on his recent Fantastic 4 film contributed to people squirming in their conference room chairs to an insufferable degree. Trank's hiring was based on the rush that he's a cool new cat, whom they could boss around and get a balance of safe and edgy for their troubles. When things went south on F4, he was let go just as quick. You'd think properties of this size are governed with calm and maturity. Sometimes, this is so. Case Trank shows the spontaneity involved can go either way at the drop of a hat.
The box office of Force Awakens is what makes them serious, the six-foot mouse is a greedy bastard.
People who haven't seen the movie but still has the urge to click a SW thread, beware.
Eeep!

take into account that isn't a professional pic and he wont look like that onstage.

He looks more content now than in an unprofessional pic from recent boozing days, but also heavier.
As long as he can sing and release albums
I fear a Rio 11 Redux. Let's hope he lets his Mickey Mouse club membership relapse.
No doubt. He doesn't get to be in but KUSHNER does?!
