The most shocking thing about all this is how so few are noticing the shabby production. Maybe the excitement of having it is overwhelming peoples senses.
It was the first thing I noticed when listening the first time.
Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I think because the songs are good a lot of people are willing to sidestep those sorts of issues.
Shouldn't we wait to actually listen to the cd from beginning to end before putting the dagger in to the production? Are we gonna make final judgement based on leaks, fanmade shit, and mp3/4's from various digital sources? I understand your concerns, but in all fairness, half the time I don't know what I am listening to since I have 3 versions of the songs in various digital formats!:P

wow. this is not meant to be critical, but i'm glad that my ears must not be trained enough to hear all these mistakes. to me the record sounds really good. i was actually surprised by how cohesive it sounded
its wild because even songs that i wasn't particularly excited about when i heard the demos (if the world, irs, maddy), i am really enjoying the final versions of. there's not a single song on this record that i don't like. maybe my excitement will die off after i've listened to it more, but right now i'm more than pleased with the final product.
I am with you and Crimeslunkscene, I like the album and overall production alot. I just think it is a bit cluttered at times, but overall I'm digging it. Catcher in the Rye is just fine to me.

I say Sorry. It is more classic rock, is more stripped down, and has an edge to it. If there is a 4th, I would go with Prostitute.
Bono, I love If The World as well and think it would be a great tune for radio. The problem is what format would it go under?....killer tune though. One of the few songs where the guitars have room to breath.

I honestly feel like alot of people are noticing the cut and paste because they've had so much access to previous versions.
very true...the prior versions are cut and paste as well. I dig the album and don't care what anyone says now. I am only interested to see how it sells, who will show up for a tour, and still want to know what he is going to do with the rest of the material. I really wish he would just put out a special edition Chinese Democracy box set around X-MAS and call it day with the project.

Decided to just download it like everyone else.
IRS and Madagascar too me are the high point of the album. I need to listen to it again but some of the newer things I like and some I don't. Songs that I disliked I still dislike. Catcher should not have been on this album. The 19 seconds of the checkmate leak was better than that whole song. I know people like it but that's just my honest opinion.
Well, we can discuss and argue this to death. But, it is simply over now. Axl had 14 years to make an album and this is what he made. Basically, it's his potrait of himself. Brilliant at times, bad at times, down right hard to understand at times. No excuses here though. This is his baby and it is what it is so just live with it. 
If you don't want to listen to the record, just play your demos. At least you will have a booklet with credits, lyrics and artwork for a keepsake. Personally, I am just glad it is over with so I now can watch from the sidelines as everyone dissects the 400 different guitar parts to death.

he was earning money other ways with solo albums, his Replacements catalog, Soul Asylum work, etc. He did other session work during that timeframe as well and also was scoring soundtracks for movies. It wasn't his only income. Plus, the figure came from some one at Interscope, not going to tell you how I know. It sounded like they knew what he was paid for the recording of the album. Now, I also think touring is a separate deal from their regular contract. These are very general comments that I do not have direct proof of. It's no big deal either way and is really none of our business. Tommy is doing fine....much better than before he came in to Guns. Everybody is so caught up in bullshit. Argue Argue Argue.:headbang:
