The cool thing is Axl/DC can just have Angus writing songs like he always has, or they could let Axl loose with the lyrics if he so chooses and he could bring the tone of the band back down to the Bon days. There literally are no naysayers, the stadiums are packed and the shows rocked... it'd be ridiculous for Angus to can AC/DC when Axl obviously wants on board in the worst of ways.

Axl, Bon & Brian are my favorite singers, so I'm in heaven here. I'd never want Brian to step aside if he didn't have to, but in my heart, I know Axl singing would produce a much better AC/DC album than with Brian and he kills the old tracks live. That's pretty exciting. The only worry is just how long AC/DC is gonna go between albums. The Rock or Bust World Tour was significantly shorter than other tours they did, perhaps they are gonna churn out another album faster than before, especially since a lot of these were unreleased material of Malcolm's.

I think GNR could play big hockey arenas and the like all over the world with Axl and Slash at the helm and as much as new music means nothing in today's day and age, they're both capable of it (Axl is... Axl). I think if Axl is insisting on playing CD shit to people who have never heard it, he's got to want to release more albums inside somewhere, and nothing could be easier for him than to have Duff & Slash tinker some with his old works. I still would prefer actual new songs from an actual reunited lineup. That could take a while knowing Axl, so.

I don't think GNR is washed up, I think their name as a whole is very solid, especially when ticket prices drop to respectable levels on further "normal" tours. Christ, I paid $100ish Canadian for third row at AC/DC, to compare.

AC/DC's new albums always hit the radio well, hell, you even hear stuff like Airbourne on regular rock radio. If GNR ever comes out with a new album with Slash & Axl... that shit will get airplay for sure. I'm not sure if it'll take over the world, but it will do well if they use the internet to their advantage like every other act. AC/DC's Rock or Bust video has 21 million official views on Youtube... music videos are still relevant.

I know an AFD reunion is a good idea in theory... but it seems like an idea that would apply to a more washed up band to celebrate an album. I mean, they already play everything good off AFD right now, Izzy in the mix would be great, but you still have an issue on drums for the UYI shit, so it's still kind of a gong show.

I think the regular fans just want to see the best GNR show they can get, the reunited lineup is still new, to like, have one album (as great as AFD was) dictate the whole show when it's already and always has been heavy in the set list.

I do have a hard time believing Axl just sat back and took all of Slash's shit if he actually believed he had a leg to stand on. Look at those videos of Axl in court, listen to the old rants. The guy is brilliant, if he wants his point across in any manner from calm and collected to insane, he can do it. That's why I'm not so sure what side to take in Axl saying Slash told lies about him intentionally. I don't think Slash is anywhere near as rosy as he portrayed himself in his book or anywhere else, but I don't think Axl would hold that inside for no reason and just take it up the ass for years in the media.

I really don't think either Slash or Axl are outright lying. There may be some hyperbole here or there and lots of stubbornness as is always the case, but it has to be just two people with drastically different opinions at very low points in their lives. When you have one guy who could OD at any moment and another guy who didn't give a shit to incite riots that could get your fans killed, it's easy to tell why these guys drove one another fucking nuts.

(ALSO: Does anyone have anything to expand on the quote about Slash popping out Axl's tape and wanting Axl to be in his band, but Axl didn't want to be in his band. I assume this relates to the IP of the name of the band, not physically in a band with Slash?)

That Eddie Trunk caller is interesting, Eddie has a valid point, but the fact of the matter, only the most devout are going to sit around Googling or wondering for hours about bands they haven't heard from in years and years. That hillbilly who called in probably just called in to call in and hoped to get on the air. He probably hadn't thought of WASP in 20 years and decided to bring it up on the call. Eddie makes his living off music, he knows everyone. The average person isn't quite so exuberant on the new WASP album working a terrible job and raising kids. It's not the average joe's responsibility to find out a band is in town, it's the band and promoter's jobs to get that info out there. These bands could just as easily get on Twitter... not their management putting out BS lame tweets, but the actual people in the bands, but they often don't. If the bands can't be bothered with Twitter, why expect anything more from a fan?

As hardcore fans, we take things well beyond what the average person is going to do, but I don't begrudge casual fans because they aren't on forums talking about the band all day. I don't begrudge a casual fan giving up on Axl Rose when he's come up with a whopping one album in quarter century. So many of you guys here are lucky to be from big cities in the US, you have so many options. Eddie in that clip mentioned how so many bands are playing for 60 people a night. Well, to use where I'm from as an example, we have Canadian classic rock bands that you guys might not know (Trooper, April Wine, Helix, etc.) but have devout fans because these bands come through town on a yearly basis. Nazareth comes through my buttfuck area every year. And every year, fans come back again and again and they all play for hundreds/thousands because they have that rapport with fans. Not to pick on WASP, but using them as an example, if they hit the States every 5 years... how can you expect them to be on anyone's radar?

And knowing the GNR set list, if I felt a piss coming on, I'd definitely be hitting the can during Coma! For every hardcore who mocks casuals for rocking a piss during Coma, there's also another hardcore acting like Knockin' On Heaven's Door should be taken out of the set like a total moron, too. For me, when I go to a concert, all I'm thinking about is I'm gonna be getting drunk with a lot of people who also wanna let loose and hear some Guns N' Roses or whoever. That's all that really matters. It's a concert, not an epiphany. Being a total geek, hardcore nerd type would totally kill the spirit of a GNR show for me to begin with. If I went in with that mentality, I'd have to kick my own ass.

I have a hard time picking favorites... if I'd never seen GNR before, I'd never turn down Jungle or Paradise, etc. but I chose Nightrain because it's been my anthem for well over a decade now.

I'm a little surprised at the odd person talking a bit of smack on the album, I think it's unfair, though. It's gotta be burnout or just getting deeper into the tracks. I can't really believe people who love GNR don't love Appetite.

I went through a time when I listened to too much GNR, it was right before I saw them in January of 2010. I remember being down because I thought the show would suck as I was tired of the songs... boy was I fucking wrong! To be fair, though, it was basically the first real arena rock show with pyro, huge screens, etc. I'd ever seen, it knocked me off my ass. I saw Weird Al at a fair once and Nazareth at an outdoor show, but that's not exactly the same. Since the Nazareth show, I have been addicted to concerts and the GNR cemented it.

January 22, 2010, I hadn't really seen a concert. By January 30ish, I'd seen Sebastian Bach open for GNR and then Airbourne and Joe Perry open for Motley Crue. That was a really great fucking week in my life.

You guys are crazy if you don't think GNR fans don't want to hear KOHD at a Guns show. Crazy, crazy, crazy.

Axl said CD was finished in 2001 and wanted it released. They wouldn't do it.

Blame the label...not Axl. If Axl had got what he wanted, we'd have had the album 15 years ago and likely the followup a year or two later. We know too much info now that we didn't know back then to blame him for the insane delays.

Do you have any backstory/citations on this? I always assumed it was crazy Axl.

99.9% of GNR fans in general, casual and hardcore combined wish the 0.1% of elitist hardcores (who are likely not necessarily hardcores, just stuck up, me-me-me, self-centered individuals) would just stay away from the shows and leave everyone else have their fun. 5

Simple logic is all that's needed to realize no one, not the ultimate casual, the ultimate hardcore, me, you or anyone in between will ever get their perfect, personal set list, from GNR or any artist ever.

I had never read that interview before, it's really insightful.

I don't know what to believe. It's hard to decipher without a lot more insight on what happened, but it is hard to believe Duff and Slash talked shit on everything he did at that point. Maybe they did it out of frustration of how everything was going? Axl may be hypersensitive and have strange interpretations, but I'm not so sure in 2012 he'd bring stuff like that up without legit merit or still feeling strong to that conviction.

I painted my GNR picture from Slash's book. When Duff wrote his, I thought that'd be more accurate, but he basically glosses over everything that people would want to read about. Axl said a lot of Slash's book wasn't true at that recent interview. It's safe to say shit went down between these three guys that none of them are ever going to air, especially now. I don't know the meaning behind the whole Stephanie Seymour ballads quote you're bringing up, but if Slash said that, you never know. Because how many GNR songs were ballads written about women? Tons, so maybe Slash was just bitter at everything Axl would do and it pushed him away. Who knows.
