It's a crazy world, I like the changes to TWAT and Maddy especially. I am very pleased with these batch of leaks. I am not saying it is a masterpiece or anything, but it is pretty good, and the changes made are what I expected. The old songs are simply mixed better imo.

Tommy came from a minimalist scene.....there wasn't 32 guitar parts, 3 syths, 45 cello players in The Mats. He probably heard this stuff and it was mindblowing to him.
Back on topic, the vocals in TWAT are definitely different-the first part and there are tons of different mixing level issues compared to the last batch. AUTOTUNE is definitely in play!

Tommy is an indie meat and potatos rocker. No flash....no dash...just cool. Again, there are 8 players in this band.....bass is obviously only one part of the mix. He is good when he needs to be good. Simple as that. I am more disappointed that I don't hear any background vocals from him or any other bandmembers. You need the different voices to add texture and different tones to the songs. Maddy would be much better with the band singing part of the outro.:peace:

yo......watch the Tommy talk. Great bass in The Blues, CD, and especially the outro to TWAT. Definitely cool in If The World as well. Thank God he isn't Flea....this band needs a bland anchor with all the other shit going on. Mother Goose is in the house!:haha::nervous:

I think it would have been a great solo record. For all we know, it may end up that way.:ummm:

I prefer smaller boards...the more numbers, the more idiots and the idiots are always a lot louder than the regular folks. Furthermore, we have enough varying opinions on this board to keep us arguing for awhile-with or without anything new to discuss.

Live bootlegs and demos of varying quality stacked up against 20 year old classic songs that have been in stores, on radio, and formally released for two decades. James James James, kind of an unfair fight by ANY standard. For arguments sake why not put up Crash Diet by comparison? Or Ain't Going Down? Or let's say Reckless Life?
I still think interest will perk up EXTREMELY quickly once you get a formal single out and an actual record company announced release date. For example, I am a huge Radiohead fan but never go to their chat boards or You tube to look for unreleased material. I just wait for it to come out and I purchase it. Same goes for Wilco and Tool. I will buy their albums when they come out and always go see them play when a concert is in my town. But, I never go to their message boards. A lot of people will come out of the wood work when there is something to care about.
You have to remember, we don't represent the majority, we represent the lunatic fringe of Gnr fans.
ps on the flip side, I do think Axl has killed whatever buzz CD may have had over the past years. People simply don't believe him or anyone when it comes to the release of this record and are over the rumors-even casual fans. The boy who cried wolf syndrome. However, that doesn't mean when the album is actually formally released that people won't care. There is a subtle difference there.

Scabs, I am completely neutral on the new band vs reunion thing. As crazy as this is going to sound, I actually think this is a fairly exciting time. After 14 years of recording with various "bandmembers"-yes, this thing started in 1994, we really have NO idea what the next announcement will be, we don't know who will actually be in the band, etc.
Axl has accomplished one task in 14 years... he has somehow completely baffled the entire fanbase by reducing us to the point of having no idea what he is going to do next.
#6749 Re: Guns N' Roses » Let the reunion rumors roll... » 935 weeks ago
as The King would say...."thank ya...thank ya very much".
#6750 Re: Guns N' Roses » Let the reunion rumors roll... » 935 weeks ago
in the end, who gives a fuck. Axl fuckin brings the rock. End of discussion. Bad vocals, good vocals.....he has the mojo. Charisma, intensity, and sheer insanity carries the day over inconsistent vocals. Nobody on this board that I know of has seen more shows than I have-a very wide variety of artists as well (mainly based on the fact that I am significantly older than 99% of the people who come here). Axl is a love him or hate him performer, but he is still one of the greats. Simple as that.
