#6831 Re: Guns N' Roses » Weiland identifies with Axl - RollingStone » 940 weeks ago
Neemo, the guy who writes 100% of the lyrics in a song is going to ALWAYS get a writing credit. Locomotive and Coma are all Axl lyrics. Please, those songs are made by the great lyrics. Some of Axl's best....to go along with Nov Rain and Estranged. So go ahead and give Slash two more......he has 11 of 30.
and by the way, that is roughly the formula that Slash created when they said Axl had 42% of the credits according to SLASH'S formula-source, Steven Adler trial. The Axl bashing has to slow down at some point.....he's a jackass, but GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE, he wrote the majority of lyrics which will always get credits.

I hope you are right because I want to know every detail. But, you saw how he handled that issue on the Live record. Axl is a spiteful guy and who knows what the hell he will do.:nervous: The whole band may end up being 'additional musicians' except for Ax, Reed, and Pitman!:haha:

James, key point is that they don't own what they play. Axl (and possibly Geffen) owns that. So, legally, there will be no requirement to list who plays on each track. However, the writing credits for the ideas and songs they created clearly could cause legal issues if they don't get a credit where they think they should.

With the number of people that have come and gone through the project, do you think Axl will give a detailed list of who plays what on each track? Will he just do like Trent on the Slip and say performances by blah by blah in a general statement but you really don't know the exact tracks each played on and the exact parts/instruments? Since they are contracted employees, will they get writing credits?
Personally, I think we will get specific writing credits (ie Rose/Finck/Reed), but I don't think Axl will give the details of who exactly played what on each track.:/ Although the hard core fans will really want it, I think it may be smarter to leave out the details due to the sheer volume of people involved and the perception of that to the general public..

been through the whole album, it's very good. Nice ending with Demon Seed too...a few cool instrumentals. Nice tight concise record.

I am through the first six tracks or more and don't see Finck as a real standout. Just typical NIN stuff so far.
to take this slightly off topic, you see how quickly Trent incorporated Robin.....at the most Robin has been involved 8-9 months but I doubt that long. My point is that if Axl wanted to get Slash involved in some capacity right now for CD, he could still do it and get a record out by xmas. Slash could erase some of Robin's solos in a second. IF IF IF IF.
Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Slash try his hand at the solo on CD (just Finck's) and the Blues. I like Robin's Better, TWAT, and IRS stuff.

actually, according to Geffen Axl promised the new Gnr album by March 1st 1999.
" In the other May 1, 1998 amendment, see Hoffman Decl. Ex. A, Axl Rose agreed, among other things, to deliver that new studio LP (which was even then long overdue under the Recording Agreement) no later than March 1, 1999 and received a substantial advance from Geffen in return. ":peace:

Some prefer pastries to steak. Your opinion is your opinion, and you are certainly entitled to it. From what I read you do have good musical taste. I guess the Pirner vs Westy thing ruffled my feathers a bit (not hard to do).
Actually, if the Replacements do a reunion tour, SA would be a perfect touring partner. Would be a cool show. You could bill it "The Who Screwed Winona First Tour.":haha:
