#6981 Re: The Sunset Strip » Music critics love albums that the public hates » 948 weeks ago
I am actually suprised there is not a Replacements album on the list.:nervous: However, The Gilded Palace of Sin is a fuckin classic. Gram and the Burritos are the shit.
"This old town is filled with sin
It'll swallow you in
If you've got some money to burn
Take it home right away
You've got three years to pay
And Satan is waiting his turn
The scientists say it'll all wash away
But we don't believe anymore
'Cause we've got our recruits
In their green mohair suits
So please show your I.D. at the door."

Bri, I hear ya.....credit card debt is the killer. That and people buy houses that are too big for them or they spend more than they can afford. Of course, the predatory loan sharks shouldn't have let them borrow that much anyway. I hope all these mortgage companies go completely bankrupt. I can't stand the fact that our gov't is bailing them out because of THEIR crooked loan practices.:flame::flame:

My only advice to anyone young out there is STAY AWAY FROM PERSONAL DEBT like credit cards, student loans, car loans, etc. If you can't pay for it, don't buy it. America has built a complete house of cards economy on the Illusion of prosperity when in reality the majority of Americans are in debt up to the eyeballs. It is disgusting and will lead to the destruction of our economy and way of life.:flame:

I have already given up. I still think something will be released from the Chinese Democracy sessions, but I am not sure what and not sure when....:ummm:

I have actually been on an old Gnr kick....just put three playlists on my ipod....1- a 10 track playlist of UYI songs. I don't care what anyone says, the top 10 to 12 tracks on UYI match up damn well with AFD. You pick and choose what your preference is....2- AFD minus Anything Goes and Think About You. Great workout music and the dueling rhythm guitars of Slash and Izzy sound great on an ipod....3- Chinese demo ep of the six fairly polished tracks-CD, Maddy, IRS, The Blues, Better, TWAT.
#6987 Re: Guns N' Roses » Marc Canter interview (W/ CD mention) » 948 weeks ago
For the record, IF the leaks are the best we will get........I will be highly disappointed. Whether or not you like the record is a subjective thing anyway. I mean if I was to go back to May 1991 prior to the release of the Illusions and compare the unreleased Illusion songs I heard played live in Noblesville Indiana (Nov Rain, Estranged, Dust n Bones, Double Talkin Jive, 14 years, etc) plus the studio Civil War that was already on radio, those songs blow away (imo) the 10 potential tracks we have heard from the new band. I like the new band songs, but they simply aren't as good as Estranged or Civil War. Again though, subjective opinion.
I still think Axl has some hidden gems and that the songs we have heard will be alot better once properly released, but I do have lingering doubts after a decade of waiting. ....The new band contractually started on May 1st 1998 when Slash and Duff officially left the books of Geffen and were relieved of costs for producing a new gnr record...just an fyi.:peace:

Slash's version of the breakup.:bs: However, I think Axl and Slash are BOTH full of shit. This guy is friends with both so he may know a little more than you Mikka.

Canter statement from MyGnr today
"Axl sounds great the record sounds great the songs are great. Also I heard the record in Aug. of 2006 so its hard to remember that much more about it. I just remmember it was very good. Also they may have added some things to it since then."
Canter statement from HTGTH today
"What I was trying to say is Slash should come clean and apologize to the press for some things he has said and done over the years. I have asked Slash to do that and to stop saying things to the press about axl. I think the reason Slash won't do that is because in his mind he won't look Cool. With Slash everything has to be so cool. So the fact that Slash won't do that I feel that its like being in kindergarten. I want Axl to be able to look at Reckless Road and enjoy it,but how can he when there are photos of Slash everywhere. It's like looking at you wedding album after a bad divorce and now your in a new marriage that your very happy with. I think if Slash would Apologize, there would be less tension."
Now I am not suprised that these comments haven't gotten any response because they are positive for CD and Axl and are critical of Slash. Now we got nice long threads about Slash's book and his version of the breakup. Another long thread about some fucking photographer's comment about 2 songs he alleged he heard from the album. Yet, we get some other WAY different perspectives from an objective (at least in regards to the Axl/Slash situation), close to the situation insider and......no comments from the peanut gallery.....:ummm:

He said he would like to get them together for the rock and roll hall of fame....4 years from now. He is not contradicting himself.:headbang: The key sentence is the bad divorce part....just like Waters and Gilmour. They haven't really gotten over it. It took 25 years for Floyd to mend fences and they only could squeeze out 3 songs. The thing is Axl can do the new band and old band if he really wanted to. He could have his cake and eat it too....just too much lingering tension between Axl and Slash. No one is to blame...BAD DIVORCE. Not weird either, this shit has happened to tons of great bands over the years. Generic rock and roll stuff.
