let's not knock it till we've heard it... i for one am giving this kid a chance...

it may be about money....but if it truly were.. they would just keep touring... nobody sells records these days... it'll be dedicated TO layne... from what i understand this duvall kid puts out the same vibe vocally... i know it'll never be the same.. and they prob shouldn't have called it AIC... but shit... we've seen it all a thousand times with a thousand bands... axl runs around with a collection of random fucking musicians and calls it guns n' roses....we've accepted that...lynyrd skynyrd anyone?..... how about david gilmour running around without roger waters and syd barrett and calling that shit pink floyd?

these aren't obscure musicians that were once in the band... these are VITAL pieces of what made that band tick the way it did....

if izzy, steven adler, slash and duff made a record with some guy that could pull off that classic gnr vibe vocally... and they called it Guns N' Roses... hats off to them...i betcha it'd be pretty fucking good too....

i don't think it's fair to them (aic).... they lost a lot of productive and fruitful years of making music because of his(layne's) crippling fucking addiction... now he's gone. they paid homage to him with that first tour... they waited a sufficient amount of time after his passing.... more power to them...

i remember my mom would only let me get one at first... so naturally i went with UYI2... it had the most shit i was kinda familiar with: knockin' on heaven's door... the new song they played at farm aid (civil war)... you could be mine( the cassete single i had ...at that point...had been thru the ringer)... being 13 years old and only knowing appetite and lies... i used to fast forward thru estranged and so fine  because i wasn't interested in 10 minute piano ballads and duff's singing.,.. it wasn't until one night i was laying in bed with my headphones on that i fell in love with estranged....

i have to say it isn't a weak record.... the studio version of KOHD has NO balls... my world is just awful... but civil war is amazing... 14 years is a classic... yesterdays is one of my favorite songs ever...get in the ring musically is fantastic... although lyrically... i probably coulda wrote the same shit when i was 13...shotgun blues is ferocious...breakdown is money...PTU is okay locomotive is another classic.

there definitely was enough strong material to record... but i agree there was plenty of filler added to make UYI two double albums.. they could have easily made one record of killer material and had enough for another ep a year or so later or wrote some more on the road and had another killer album front to back two years later....but all in all  i don't think what they ultimately decided to to was a bad idea.....
