If Axl does all of this and continues to just do hits tours with no real future in sight, i'll be back on the "Buzz train", no doubt.
But that doesn't seem to be happening here, so let's give it a chance. It's the most "ready" i've seen Axl since this whole thing begin.
Despite the revisionism, even in 2002, Axl told Loder after the VMA's that they were nowhere close to releasing the album, and seemed like he wanted to be anywhere but there talking with him.
Even with Norris in 2006, he seemed totally reluctant. He seemed to open up on Trunk's radio show in 2006, but the lack of any "band" members kinda negated the whole thing.
Like I said before, this is the first interview Axl's done with a new band member -- ever. That's GOTTA say something, even if Axl forgot to tell DJ to bug off.
I agree. Like I said before. I stopped loging on here because I had nothing positive to say cause well Axl didn't seem to have his heart in it. Now I could be wrong, but he seems into it this time. Can he prove us wrong? Sure. But am willing to give him a chance. But am starting to understand why Axl NEVER does an interview or anything. It seems nothing can ever be good enough. Buzz I get you're a fan of the old GNR and maybe you are not a fan ot his GNR. Nothing wrong there. But this GNR is what we have and that ain't gonna change.
Reading comprehension guys. Embrace it. Nobody once has asked for the old band back that I've seen in this thread. The fact is Axl is the only band member. That is a fact. It's not my opinion on the matter. The rest of the guys are as replaceable as Slash's "band" is. If history tells you nothing, you should have at least figured this out by now. You can want them to be a band all you want, but they are in fact a bunch of Gilbys. I can't believe people are even debating this at this point. Amazing.
I agree that Axl could go and fire them all tomorrow and replace em with the fucking Muppets. That is a fact. But for the time being. The band is what it is. When/if Axl fires one of them well that'll be it. I see GNR now as a NIN. It's a one man thing with revolving mmusicians. But for now one in particular seems to get Axl motivated and that is DJ so for now I say let's appreciate it for while it lasts. We do not have to always just see the negative man.

I don't consider contract players to be in the band. I believe legally I am quite correct in my assessment.
I have often agreed with you Buzz. Often we saw eye to eye. But not on this one man. I may not like and you definitely do not like it, but the GNR name belongs to Axl Rose. And he can hire whoever he wants to play with him and write with him. The GNR we grew up to is D-E-A-D! Just move on man! Sure I' d rather Axl would call this another name but he doesn't. Learn to live with it. And like Russ and Axlin says. AXL did an interview, an hour long one and DJ was with him. So I trust Axl will do most of the talking. And if DJ is the one responsible to get Axl motivated again then AMEN! So what if DJ has no writing credits on the next record? Who the fuck cares! As long as he can motivate Axl to release the Goddamn stuff then that's enough credit for me. Or whoever got Axl to this point.

This is an example of how nothing GN'R ever, ever does will be good enough for some "fans".
Ridiculous.
This is why I stopped contributing here. I felt like I had nothing good to contribute. Even though CD had been released and they toured a bit in 09 or 2010, it felt like it was forced on Axl and nothing seemed natural. So I stayed away and just enjoyed the music and checked once in awhile if something newsworthy was happening. And nothing was newsworthy to my eyes. But lately it seems Axl is taking this more seriously. He finished shows that went wrong whereas before he'd have just taken his ball and went home. And now he's giving an interview. So I think it's cool to be a GNR fan now as Axl seems more into it. But people are bitching, crying and moaning about DJ, bad sound on a feed from Rio, Axl's look (I think he looks good. More natural) or whatever they can. I mean. FUCK! Just enjoy what little good we're getting which is Axl's dedication or what seems like it to make this work. And I say cool if Loaded opens for GNR. It's cool that Axl seems to try to mend fences. Hell he even seemed in a good mood in that video where he was talking to fans about Slash. Good for him. So why not enjoy. But hey what do I know? I'm just a fan.

See. I hate this. I'm not a DJ fan by any means. But here we have Axl that FINALLY after what 16 years, seems to be getting his shit together. He's touring, he gives an interview and not alone, but with other guys from the band, something we haven't seen since Illusion and you guys are bitching and moaning about DJ and if he belongs in the band. FUCK! Axl could be on the verge of finally being dedicated to this, just enjoy this and stop complaining! Yeah DJ talks a lot and he may talk a lot about things he don't know squat. But if this makes Axl more opened to talk I say give a micrphone to DJ and let him talk all he wants. Again not saying that this means we'll get a new album or dvd, but at least Axl seems to be into this more than we've seen him since forever. ENJOY!

Well regardless if we get a new album or live dvd or whatever. I will say this. This is the first time I've seen Axl so dedicated to making things work since the Illusion days, so as a fan I can only be happy about this. Sure it's just one interview, but it's one interview more than we got since 06. So I say thanks to Axl and the rest of those guys and hope all goes well with this. I'm happy as a fan and this could give us just a glimmer of hope that Axl may try and make this work.

Rock In Rio 1991 they debuted songs from the then unreleased UYI
Rock In Rio 2001 they debuted a few songs from the then Chinese DemocracySo I don't think it was much of a stretch to expect new songs in 2011
Ok. In 1991 that was a REALLY different band and Axl and that different band still had balls back then. Can't compare that to GNR 2011. in 01 he had no choice to bring a couple new songs to the table. It was a new band, he had to do it. But since then. NOTHING! When he brought IRS, Better live iwas because of the leaks. Had it not been to them all we would've gotten from the CD album would've been, CD, Madagascar and The Blues aka Treets of Dreams. So I'll still say that expecting new songs from Axl was really stretching it and really unrealistic.
