They played CD, Jungle and TWAT. The sound quality wasnt great because their set up was so loud and it was booming through the mic on Rons laptop or something.
Hang on...

I dunno man, that section he played was a strange choice to bust out of nowhere, sounded more like he's been practising the song a lot lately and it just popped out subconsciously.
But whatever, we'll find out at Rio
Hope this doesnt mean no more live streams from behind the scenes, it was interesting stuff.
TWAT sounded pretty cool as well, they played it slower than it is on the record. I found myself singing along and realised it would be so much easier for Axl to sing it at that pace, the studio version doesnt leave room to inhale between sentences.
Wonder if that was another unintentional revelation, cause all the other songs they played were at their proper speed.

Well thats a bit disapointing
The best move they've made in many a year and as soon as they realise everyone is happy and excited - YOINK! Nothing to see here, nope never happened
If its cause DJ let the cat out the bag while Ron was doing his stream thing, well then too late mofos its out the bag.
If its cause dj is just goofing around and they have no intention of playing Estranged, then so fuckin what, is it really a big deal?
Unbelievable man, yet again its one step forward, two steps back.
Time to dig out that glorious Gif again, the one that has become symbolic of GN'Rs hamfisted PR efforts...
What is it again... oh yeah I remember

Someone just started playing it on guitar in the backround, probably DJ. Its at the very end of one of the first videos thats 11 minutes long, he just starts noodling a part of one of the solo, he doesnt even play a part from the beginning of the solo, it was a small section from near the end of one of them.
Its not even distinctive as from Estranged at first listen, I had to listen a couple of times to go "...oh yeah I hear it now."

There was even a wee snippet of one of the Estranged solo's in the backround earlier

Bit of a long one, and I'm drunk so bare with me...
I've loved The Blues/SOD since I first heard it, but my favourite part is the outro, I fucking adore those vocals and melodies.
First I heard it was RIR3, I remember rewinding the cassette recording I had over and over - I never even knew all the words, I just loved the melody of the vocals:
Then I got access to the internet when I went college and found the new songs played at the HOB 01/01/01 show on mygnr.com. I used to sit in the library at night with earphones in listening to those songs over and over, especially that outro to The Blues. I loved how after that piano break Axl and everyone else comes crashing back in simultaneously after that tiny moment of silence when the piano stops:
The we started getting those soundboard recordings during the 02 tour and I finally got a decent copy of the song, the famous Boston performance, the song had changed, it was slower but I kinda liked that change, to me it made it all the more powerfull and Axl sings the whole thing so damn good, especially that outro:
Then 2006 came around it had changed again, for the worse, but there was one performance that blew me away. It was at Rock Am Ring and for the most part the performance of the song sucked, but that damn outro, once again it was nectar to my ears. Axl sang it differently on this one night, and it was probably the best its ever sounded:
Then we got the official release, again the outro was slightly different to what we'd heard before and unique in its own way, but yet again its a stand out moment and was for me one of the highlights of the whole damn album:
And finally... the track that keeps on giving lol - I came across one of these RB remixes, an instrumental of the track, and once more that outro delivers something new.
An orchestral melody thats completely buried in the album version, its gorgeous and it gives the end a whole new vibe when you hear it there on its own:
"What this means to me is more than I know you believe,
What I thought of you now, has cost more than it should for me,
What I thought was true before were lies I couldnt see,
What I thought was beautiful... is only memories."

#899 Re: Guns N' Roses » Guns N' Roses Vinyl LPs » 790 weeks ago
Huh? It's a frequency issue. Vinyl reproduces higher high's and lower low's than CD can regardless of how many track are on each side.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for less songs per side and a higher mastering speed (ala, the Foo Fighters vinyl release of Wasting Light or the recent Metallica 45rpm remasters) but I promise you, a regular old 12" 33 1/3 master is worlds in front of the same recording on CD.
Nah I disagree there, I used to use vinyl all the time for djing and 12" albums with multiple tracks were worthless, mabye the frequencys were superior but when it came down to it, they were just to damn quiet. It was 12" or 10" singles all the way, cd's were always better than those old lp's.

I was talking to one of my old DJ chums tonight about the bygone era of us being amature DJ's using vinyl, reminiscing about the old, long gone shops we used to hang out in, and how all our records would be scattered around town cause there was loads of our generation into djing and we would all borrow and swap records from each other.
Nowadays you dont need to leave your bedroom to get whatever the hell you want, its a download away... but then you had make do with whatever you could afford out a shop or just plain beg borrow or steal from friends.
Anyway he mentioned getting stuff out the library and it reminded me that when I was a youngster in 1988, I only had a 2nd, 3rd, 4th or fucking 5th hand recording of AFD on a cassette, it never even had the last 3 songs on it.
But I remember I would go down to the local library, to the music section where they had hundreds and hundreds of records of vinyl in racks, me and my friends would dig out AFD on vinyl and just look at the cover and inlay sleeve with all the photos on it... but the librarian would never let us take it out on loan cause we were so young and it was considered to explicit for our young ears... so we had to just make do with gazing at the damn thing whenever we were in there lol.
