I watched both this past weekend...had to watch Once Upon A Time...twice as I wasn't sure what the fuck I had just watched.

I didn't like it. It had flashes of brilliance...needed 30-45 minutes edited out...but in reality it's nothing but Tarantino jerk off sessions romanticizing his long lost youth...and takes it to it's utmost extreme with the alternate history of Manson/Tate.

If this is all he has to offer at this point, I'm glad he's nearing retirement.

The Irishman on the other hand....a perfect final chapter for all parties involved. Did anyone really expect anything at this level from Scorsese, De Niro, Pacino, Pesci, etc. at this stage of their career?

As far as Oscars....yikes. Who gets it? Pacino almost becomes Hoffa at times but then he has to Pacino up the performance and remind me it's just Pacino hamming it up. Yes it was more subtle but damn Marty....reign him in.

De Niro was great as well and the more human, realistic portrayal was a nice touch. We needed a film of this magnitude during the prime of their careers.

Pesci hits the home run here to me. Had to literally be begged to come out of retirement for one more role...and he didn't let this final opportunity go to waste.

I need to watch it again. I watched it in two shifts and I need to just sit down and experience the whole thing.

I've watched it twice now.  I just think it's the perfect movie.

Pacino wasn’t a great Hoffa but he did capture the hubris so I forgot. Same with DeNiro not really looking like Sheeran. It fits really well with Goidfellas, Casino.
