When a guy like Rick Rubin tells you that you need to put more into your songwriting you HAVE to listen to him, and not be afraid to do the work.  They will especially need to do that now.

I can't see how anyone would suggest Baz is the man for the job considering they need a songwriter.  Songwriting is not the man's strong point.

For the record, I wasn't comparing Baz to Cherone... I was merely comparing the situation to Van Halen and what the band could turn into with him as the singer.  The songs would be weaker and irrelevant in today's music scene.  Take Baz's solo album for instance.  It had no impact at all in the music industry last year.  He's publicly viewed as a washed up 80s singer.  At least Scott was relevant to a more modern audience.  I brought Chris Robinson into the mix because they need someone with a more rock sound than Weiland, but less hair metal than Baz.  Someone else I'd like them to consider is Eric Dover.  Chris Cornell would be an interesting addition too.  Josh Todd (until that crappy song came out this year) would be relevant.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Baz's work in Skid Row and respect him as a singer.  But to me he's way too irrelevant in today's music scene.  The guys in VR at least survived the 80s and aren't writing the same songs they did way back then.  Baz would just hold them back and turn them into a novelty act.

Um he wrote this great song

You don't understand,as well all but 4 songs on his Angel Down CD
I totally disagree with he is irrelevant, most magazines & Internet sites
ranked Angel Down as the # 1 CD of 2007 & the same was for his 2005 project Frame Shift 2 an Absence of empathy

Bach isn't the guy for the band. They need a fresh young voice to kick ass and make a new bold statement.

Dig up one of the Jellyfish guys. See if Andy Strumer or Roger Joseph Manning Jr. is available. Then, even if VR continued to suck, some people might at least listen to Jellyfish. And it'd be worth it.

Since they turned Baz down in the beginning, I don't see them going back to him. I hope to god that Baz isnt the new singer. He wasn't the style they were looking for 5 years ago and I don't think he is what they are looking for now. I could be wrong but thats just my opinion.

About bridging the gap with Axl, I think Izzy would do a far better job than Baz ever would.

1. Bach is irrelevant.

2. Most magazines & websites DIDN'T rank Bach's records anywhere near #1 of the year. roll

Your probably right.

Although I live in a fantasy land where VR decide that contraband and libertad was enough of grunge and post-grunge style rock, and go back to a Slash's Snakepit 1 or Appetite sound with Baz going his best Axl imitation on the vocals.

Dave meanwhile litterally burns his guitar pedals down realsing that effects arn't the way to go...Suddenly he retires...allowing Izzy to record with the band, and Gilby to fill in for him on tours.. LMAO
