this is what people wanted to hear

It is? Name one person at these communities(or anywhere) that wanted another phase of the Axl vs Slash bullshit? We knew he disliked him in the 90s, and knew it again when he wouldn't stop talking about him during the 2002 tour. Then we were informed again when he made that Slash/Beta meeting known publicly. Now its happening again.

We were supposed to "stop living in the past". Chinese Democracy starts now! Its a "new era".  Get on board....or fuck off?

Its 2009, CD is on the shelves, and the release and its aftermath has revolved around Slash, which was his choice.

The general public doesn't care about this soap opera. Most of the media interest in these "Slash-capades " has been negative. 99.9% of the hardcores aren't interested in Slash stories either, as you can tell judging by the majority who post at these sites.

This promotional tactic(or just another Slash rant) is marketing itself towards a brick wall. Only thing it accomplishes(besides general disinterest) is another online war between the diminishing Axl-ites/Slash-ites.

The people interested in this band are interested in the CD era and a potential tour. Instead its a Slash thesis with no real discussion about the CD project.

Don't be surprised that people are surprised it went down like this.

He "cant win" because he never moves forward. The fans left always wind up stepping backwards into some Slash fantasy that should have been resolved(or discussed when relevant) ten years ago. Hell, there are tons at these sites that don't even care about Slash or his solo efforts.

One way or the other, everything always has to revolve around Slash, and unfortunately it probably always will.

This is why I mentioned earlier about 2002 being the superb moment to release this. What's transpiring now fits perfectly with what went on back then. Its the same scenario but the album instead of the tour.

He could have killed these identical birds with the same stone six years ago....

*rant over*

I've never understood the damned if he does, damned it he doesnt attitude on forums. It seems like a cop out argument defending his actions. I wouldnt damn him if he spoke about CD and the future, who in the world doesnt know he thinks Slash is the bad guy? Its 2009!

Ive seen Axls henchmen in another forum showing links to media sites showing the "Axl calls Slash a cancer" headlines claiming it proves that the world is interested in hearing this story and Axl had to tell his side.
Thats a bunch of BS, the story is getting headlines because its such a shocking attack/interview. Axl has damaged his reputation even further with the casual music fan with this latest round of rants. He comes across as an utter fucking arsehole in that interview.

I'm sure people will be lining up around the block to buy tickets for the next tour knowing Slash is well and truly gone, this dick is in charge and has no idea who is currently in his band.

"Our focus is on this record" - who the fuck is he trying to fool, himself???

what seems so fucked up to me is that if he was really serious about burying Slash with the new GNR he should have been releasing band photos, videos posters, etc, doing interviews with Robin etc.

With no press releases, meet and greets etc he's actualy firming up Slash position in peoples mind's as the real guitar player for GNR.

I mean look at Metallica, does anybody think Jason is still in the band?

the focus will be on the record when people will stop asking about reunion/slash/old gnr.

all this should have gone down in 2001-2002. put the album out, tour behind it extensively, bash the fuck out of all former members on-stage and in interviews and divide the fanbase. so all the people left would be axl fans or new fans that didn't give a shit about the old line-up.

and he could've achieved that in 2002 because if all of the above would have happened during a 6-12 month period simultaneously, it would have went his way.

but the album wasn't out so he was left with a few tour dates, he bashed the old guys on stage but there weren't so many people listening, magazines weren't interested of a tour with some unknown line-up without an album behind it.

now he's trying to pick up where he left in 2002? he can't because izzy played with him in 2006 so he can't take a dig at him now like he would've in 2002, slash and duff got velvet revolver on the map in 2003-2004 so he can't say they didn't do anything relevant since guns anymore. in 2002 it would all have been true but now it's not.

so, instead of a few months of hell in 2002 we've got 7 years of crappy interviews from all sides. who cares anymore? i'll read what all of them have to say but it's all in good fun and take it lighthearted because i'm interested in the music and the musicians behind it. the people behind the musicians are fucked up and i don't care about them.

my only request of this era's gnr: bucket

Yeah lets start a Bring Back Bucket campaign, post "Axl please reunite with Buckethead" threads and start wearing Buckethead=GN'R T-shirts. That should please Axl 14
If enough people start showing an interest in getting Buckethead back we might get round 2 and "the truth" about dog poop, porn and chicken coops.

maybe he is working towards promoting the new band and album? if youstep back and read it he condemns pretty much everyone except Duff and Izzy....and lets not forget this song (Down By The Ocean from the izzy and duff vaults)

"In '95, Duff and me recorded songs for the band. We made a tape that went nowhere. Then, a couple of months ago I have a message on my answering machine: 'Yo! It's Axl, I need a copy of the songs that you did.' There was one called 'Down by the Ocean' or 'Down by the Sea', they may have used it, I haven't come back to know nothing." (Izzy, Popular Magazine, 2001)

Is there any chance you'll work with the former members of Guns N' Roses in the future?

I could see doing a song or so on the side with Izzy [Stradlin] or having him out [on tour] again. I'm not so comfortable with doing anything having more than one of the alumni. Maybe something with Duff [McKagan], but that's it and not something I'd have to really get down into, as I'd get left with sorting it out and then blamed on top of it. So, no, not me.

so there we have some future promotion and possibly an allusion to a future released track, without actually collaborating on the material. We know there is at least one more album worth of material written by the same people, We have the drummers as being shot down and the ones hes worked with on CD being his favorite, we have the curent band being more pleasuable to work with than the old, he has slammed UYI's and TSI, he's shutting the door between himself and slash opening it wider to promote BBF, Robin, BH and the rest...the more i think about it the more i think its a long winded approach to start talking about the album and it future cousin(s)..the next interview will be interesting to see what direction it goes...you know he's been running his mouth about Slash and Niven and Merck and whoever but this CD album is basically about people who have done him wrong...so in a long about way he is promoting it...kinda 16

He can't do that, otherwise the casuals will know Slash is in the band, and he won't get any 'dupe' buys for albums.

Seriously, you'd be amazed how many people still think Slash is in GN'R, and I think Axl uses that to his advantage.

Plus the fact, he basically admitted whoever is in Guns N' Roses, is whoever is available to tour, so how is he ever going to release band photos, we he just admitted it's not a band?

Here's the band - Axl Rose, Dizzy Reed, & Chris Pitman.

Everybody else depends on if they're available. Tommy too (Duff comment).
