You're still not getting it. The ad was up ALL OVER LAS VEGAS for at least a month prior to the street naming. Then when the street naming happened and the womens shelter got mad, the commissioners line was "I didn't see it before the street naming". So it's not even a matter of whether or not the pic is offensive or appropriate, it's a matter of the ridiculous excuse the commissioner used to get out of it.

Ummm... seems to me it's you who doesn't get it. Doesn't matter when someone sees it or takes issue with it. the fact is someone took an issue with it and when it was brought to the appropriate person's attention they made a decision. it's how the world works. Wow. hard concept hey Russ.

Yeah, but like Russ mentioned.  Why was it okay to be up for a month?  If your argument was it should have never been approved, then fine.  I can totally accept that.  Just like, as you mentioned, it got moved to the inner sleeve of AFD.  But once it gets approval, and is up for an extended period, then it all of a sudden becomes an issue.  That doesn't jive with me.

Did the women's rights group sit in on the meetings where the billboards were approved? probably not. It wasn't their decision to put them up but when they had an issue with it they filed a complaint and actions were put in place to deal with it. you guys are hilarious.

Agreed. I mean if we're gonna have that attitude, then they need to just nuke the town.

The whole fuckin' place is based on SIN. Get it? SIN city. That's usually not a word that conjures up well-meaning towards women's rights.

We'll objectify them in pornography, put them up for sale as meat in prostitution, but hey... a fucking PAINTING is just too far.

I'm glad I could amuse you.

I think it's ridiculous.  Plain and simple.  I've stated my case.  You find it funny.  That's fine.

^ This. I actually find it quite bizarre that so many GNR fans think the womens shelter is in the wrong here.

I've never been to Vegas I admit, but I've been to Amsterdam which I suppose is the European equivilent. They have hookers anyway 16 I can't imagine the locals there would be too happy with adverts depicting rape, especially those who had suffered sexual abuse.

It took a while but like Bono said,  it takes time to get shit done. If it were some random person, OK, maybe i can understand, but a women's battered shelter doing it for attention? u all should honestly be ashamed of yourselves.

Pray a loved one of yours is never sexually assaulted or beaten.

I assume anyone who finds the painting so disturbing has never purchased Appetite For Destruction? Seeing as the painting is included in every format AFD is available in, I would have to assume buying it would condone the painting as well.

Hardly

u don't know thats inside.

if u hung it up on your wall, possibly.

see this is the type of shit I am talking about.

Just because I support the women's shelter doesn't mean I am "Anti poster"

GNR world is black and white, u are either for or against and that is bullshit.

I have no problem with the poster cause Ive never been raped or sexually assaulted.

to say someone that has been raped or sexually assaulted "SHOULDNT" have a problem is plain asinine.

So yes, womens battered shelter understandably don't like looking at it. I support and understand their reasons for wanting it taken down and yes I am still a GNR fan even though I don't agree 100 percent with everything they do.
