We will continue your song of the week Smoke.

We will sort all of this out. The forum will continue to be. It does suck losing someone who has done so much but it happens. Happened before. I wish it coulda been different.

And by tact you mean passive aggressive insults rather than being blunt. Gotcha.

Anyways carry on.

Do you read what you actually write?  Jesus Bono - you automatically insult anybody that has the nerve to have a different opinion than yours.  It's not like you even say that's crazy - no, you go right to insulting the person.  We all (well many of us at least) do it from time to time, but you do it pretty much every single time.

I don't mind taking subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) digs at people, but I try to avoid being flat out insulting.  People can choose to ignore sutle; it's pretty hard to ignore you when you make posts directly insulting 4 or 5 people in the same post.

Half of what I do here is just for fun.  I admit it.  It's a stress release for me.  I'm nowhere near as big of an ass in real life as I am here.  I'm actually extremely laid back and I don't really care about or get excited or upset about much of anything.  Maybe that's your thing too...I don't know.

I just want to repost this because some people may have forgotten the reality of the situation.

I like Bono.  I agree with much of what he says and his opinions aren't that far off from mine on most things GnR related.

But...his posting style leaves a LOT to be desired.  When people like me that usually agree with what he's saying are calling him out for posting like an ass, there's probably something to it.  I've gotten into my share of scrapes with people, but even at the worst of times (at least since that porn guy the loved Robin left) my worst posts were nicer than Bono's posts where he's trying to be nice.  He's been asked over and over again not to be disruptive with his posts, but it happens over and over again.  It's not what he's saying; it's how he's saying it.  That's not good for the site.  It's not just bothering some of the leadership here; it's bothering regular posters too.  Again, I usually agree with what he's saying, but the way he says everything is just over the top rude when anyone has a different opinion.  I certainly wouldn't want to hang out with someone like that in real life and I sure the hell don't need to do it for a hobby.

You guys do whatever you think you need to do, but remember there's a price to pay for every decision.  If you think the site is better off with a loudmouth, opinionated guy that can't seem to state an opinion without offending someone ever than it is with the guy that's kept it afloat for the last 2 years, then so be it.  I'm all for free speech, but there are consequences that come along with that.  You can say whatever you want, but you're still responsible for what you say.  I can't believe there's even a decision to be made when it comes to banning one asshat poster (no matter who it is) or basically shitting on the guy that kept this place alive when it should have died a long time ago.

I agree 100% with Buzz.  My issue with discussions with Bono has never been what he says, but how he says it.

I apologize if I'm putting words into yours or anyone else's mouth, Buzz, but if Russ' announcement has something to do with Bono, then I'm puzzled to say the least.

Got an email from Russ just to let me know he had stepped down as admin. I only came back to Evo and redeveloped this site because Russ had put in so much effort keeping this place afloat when everyone else had basically abandoned it. Sad to see him step down but I fully appreciate why he chose to.

A-FUCKING-MEN

All I can add is that my only problem with Bono was how he talked to people, that was the maority of our arguments as it always slipped into being personal. I've never understood that. And that's how all these "debates" end up... About the poster, not the discussion. I can get along with anyone here without it turning into something ugly and stupid. And it never gets personal. I think it got that way once or twice with Buzz.

This place is going to go downhill FAST if you're choosing posters who are very devisive over the guy who poured everything into this site and was the best admin around. The vibe that was a gray cloud, will turn into black bile very quickly.

Thirded, and I actually don't have an issue with Bono's WWE-style posting, but you eventually draw a line.

And yes... this is coming from me. Beyond the pale today... beyond the pale.
