picked up the ghost of mars soundtrack on cd recently.

good soundtrack to an awful movie, featuring the guitar works of robin finck and buckethead on half the tracks.

1.    "Ghosts of Mars"    Steve Vai, Bucket Baker    3:42
2.    "Love Siege"    Anthrax, Buckethead, Robin Finck    4:37
3.    "Fight Train"    Anthrax. Robin Finck    3:16
4.    "Visions of Earth"    Elliot Easton    4:08
5.    "Slashing Void"    Elliot Easton    2:46
6.    "Kick Ass"    Anthrax, Buckethead    6:06
7.    "Power Station"    Anthrax, Robin Finck    4:37

8.    "Can't Let You Go"    Stone, Bruce Robb, Joe Robb    2:18
9.    "Dismemberment Blues"    Stone, Elliot Easton    2:53
10.    "Fightin' Mad"    Buckethead    2:41
11.    "Pam Grier's Head"    Anthrax, Elliot Easton    2:35
12.    "Ghost Poppin'"    Anthrax, Steve Vai, Robin Finck

i've always been a big fan of love siege -- pretty cool song in more ways than one. with this track, john carpenter manged to do the unthinkable: unite buckethead and robin finck on the same song and release it. in 2001, nonetheless!

as soon as you open up the booklet, there's a quote from the man himself:

John Carpenter wrote:

In essence, the score for Ghost of Mars is techno-inspired as well as drenched in heavy metal.

haven't i heard that somewhere else before?

"kick ass" is like a mutated version of bucket's "night of the slunks" that derails into the depths of hell, thanks to a backing onslaught from anthrax.

funny tidbit from one of the reviews linked on the soundtrack's wikipedia page:

Soundtrack.net Review wrote:

For the Ghosts of Mars soundtrack, Carpenter rounded together a great group of metal guitarists - underground fave Buckethead, NIN's Robin Finck, Anthrax's Scott Ian, soloist Steve Vai, and Elliot Easton.  When you have a group like that, you're not going to let their efforts go to waste or remain unheard.

Interesting soundtrack. I queued this up awhile back purely for the Buckethead / Finck songs.

As for the movie, not Carpenter's best work by any stretch of the imagination.

hell yeah, that's some badass footage!

it'd be great to see bucket get back into writing music for movies. he's another guy i'd love to see do a full score.
