Re: This just on Blabbermouth
U.S. radio/TV personality Eddie Trunk spoke to guitar legend Slash (VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N' ROSES) for a special currently running on the MSG network.
A six-minute excerpt from the interview can be viewed below.
According to Trunk, the following information was revealed during the chat:
"VELVET REVOLVER will continue. They are in the early stages of looking for a new singer. He wants someone who is a pro, but with no baggage. He agrees with me that VR could have made better records and said that due to inner band issues some of the best material written never made the CDs. He said they knew (Scott) Weiland was done prior to the European dates and had made the decision to replace him before he even knew it. The core of the band remains together and committed to making a great album and will continue. He acknowledged the scary similarities between Axl (Rose) and Weiland and how things unravelled, and said he was much more willing to hang in there with GUNS but would not tolerate it again with Scott. He understands how people hope for a GN'R classic lineup reunion, but says it is very unlikely at any point in the near future. He said that there are issues on his end with Axl and issues from Axl's end with him. He feels Axl's issues with him will be harder to resolve than his issues with Axl. Essentially Slash said one of his biggest problem with ever working with Axl again would be Axl being professional and playing on time and showing up for things. He said he could never be in a situation where union overtime and late starts are always an issue, and noted that from what he has seen that has not changed with Axl. He did say he would never say never, but it is not likely and clearly both parties have moved on."

Not really much news on here.
He said he could never be in a situation where union overtime and late starts are always an issue
I still say this is what happened in Philly. They were going to pull the plug at midnight so Axl refused to even bother.

I've always believed that Slash want's nothing to do with a reunion and now he's said this more then once because he's brought up the late issue in another article.
Now he's stated that Axl has issues with him.
I have always firmly believed a reunion would not happen and Slash just keeps confiming that over and over.

Really? I don't get that from him at all. I think he'd be all over a reunion if the cirumstances were right. He's rightly very proud of what he and the other guys achieved in GNR and I think there will always be more than just a small place in his heart for GNR. The key point being however, that I don't think he's banking on it happening, he's established a career without GNR and over time become the biggest guitar icon of the last 20 years. He doesn't need it to happen and has made peace with the fact that it may not.
He's said time and time again he wouldn't be opposed to it if there was some sort of mutual respect between all parties. What he then usually goes on to say to dampen it is that he doesn't see that happening in the immediate future, but he never rules it out.
I personally don't think it'll happen any time soon, but it would only take one phone call....

GNR is home for him. He cannot deny it and he doesn't want to. To come from the streets of Hollywood to being the biggest band on the planet is so rare.
He wants to come home, but he wants it under his (and I believe the right) circumstances.
Re: This just on Blabbermouth
yeah i think it would happen....if they could get together and discuss their differences...but until its all aired out a reunion will not happen
the biggest thing here is Slash saying that both parties "have moved on" that is a pretty effective way of closing the door on the rumor....but do you think the media will pay attention to that? not likely

Re: This just on Blabbermouth
Yeah all of what you say may be true but Axl isn't gonna change and Slash doesn't need to put up with that anymore, he's made a great name for himself and doesn't need GNR to make or break his career at this point. I really don't think it will ever happen.
Re: This just on Blabbermouth
if the money is right, Slash is your bitch....video games, commercials, vodka, session work with Michael Jackson, selling out to the modern rock crap....SOLD OUT...he's a whore at this point. Unfortunately, I think Axl could use a good lay.

I never understood why people have an issue with slash doing his thing...he's in demand, he keeps busy, he's making money and music, what would any of you do if everyone in the world wanted your services? oh no man i dont wanna sell out....riigght you would
Slash has made a great name for himself and he keeps himself out there...his multi-ethnical background market him perfectly as well as his personal history....the man has dated and married porn stars, been an addict and clean, been broke as fuck and richer than any of us could dream, hes british and american, is an icon of the music industry..the man is an icon in the industry ... as big as any name in music ever...yet he gets flack for doing what he does...i'll tell ya what Slash is the one keeping the GnR name alive....not these other fucking guys including Axl.
You see that GNR Greatest Hits on the shelf? it sold cuz some kids wanted to learn to play some classic guitar solos and riffs..it sold cuz it was released on the heels of Contraband and peopel were reminded how great Slash is, see that Guitar Hero Game? Slash is bringing GnR to a whole new generation cuz thats what language the kids speak these days, you see the promotion for AFD's 20th? who did it? thats right Slash was the one doign interviews regarding the band? See the Mcfarlane aaction figures? where is the Axl one....where is Axl's book? EVERYFUCKING thing that you could find that is remotely positive for GnR these days is Slash news...and Axl remains silent, so where is the "heart and soul" of the band during all this sitting up in malibu with his thumb up his ass...the very ocasional update about "HIS" band...oh yeah a cameo on GTA:SA... but hes cheesy cameo isnt selling out, Slash in Guitar Hero is though, i dont understand
anyway i dont understand how someone who sold 40 Million records could sell out any more than they already have.... i mean really here...i think that people are jealous that someone who isnt in the band is actually the the one with the most integrity and fame regarding the band...if you are nt doing anything you arent relevant...Slash stays in the public eye so he stays relevant..i cannot see how this is something negative
Its a fuckign shame that these two guys cant straighten their shit out cuz they made magic together...and it saddens me that there are GnR fans who hate Slash....how can you be a gnr fan if you dont like this man? i just dont fucking get it at all
there is my rant of the year
Re: This just on Blabbermouth
once cool...now cheese. I don't like anything he has done after Guns. Sorry Neemo. I do think Slash and Axl, like Tommy and Westerberg, still have something to offer each other. However, what was cool in 1985 and 1987, most likely won't be cool now....pure nostalgia. Personally, I think it is better to create with new musicians at this point. Unfortunately, the only guy with enough talent to execute Axl's vision left in 2004.:(
