If there's one thing that every fan, critic and hater should be able to agree on it's that Axl has just jumped up a hell of a lot higher in the list of all time greatest singers.

Until you get to TIL  13

I like CD a lot- The thing about layered songs is that you hear subtle differences each time you listen and so the songs grown on you more over time. Because of this. I think these songs will stand up much better to repeat listens than most music (including Illusions material)

Everyone is all over the place as far as what they like and don't like. I for one love the intro sounds for TWAT etc... I think that some of the punch to the songs was lost from the leaks because you have the mastering compression on the final versions which takes some of the volume dynamics out. It sounds more polished and smooth but in some places that hurts it. In other places it's great (I like this version of Shackler's better)

Axl is king of memorable melodies and there is no stopping him here. On the bad side, I will say the lyrics are not the strongest point in a few areas finding their lowest point on TIL which also suffers from a horrible vocal performance at the worst having rushed lines that sound out of place. I know others love the emotion of this song but I think it's the worst of the lot.

I think Ron added some dirt here and there that really changed the feel of the songs in a good way. Having said that, his solo edition on RATB is....not good.

I hope the next two albums come out a year from now and a year after that, leaving less time for last minute tinkering. Some things can be over-thought and start to get messy; CD walks that line finding it's self on either side of it at different points in it's journey.

Overall- An Amazing album that stands up to the best of old GNR and while very different from AFD (each has it's own place) it is a more solid effort than UYI (IMO)

Looking forward to getting the vinyl! (& cd)

lol, cheers dude.

Whilst I understand that because Axl said TIL was emotionally so heavy that some people hoped the lyrics would be like Locomotive crossed with Estranged times the power of 10, I think people are missing the point to some extent. Nobody is criticising Shackler's for having the most simple, basic lyrics on the album leaving us with no idea who/what it's about and I think that's partly because it's not perceived as such a cliche. I mean, the Shackler's lyrics on paper mean sweet fuck all to me but because I don't generally listen to that kinda music I'm quite enjoying it coming from Axl and not worrying too much about exactly what Axl doesn't believe there is a reason for.

Yea, I can't speak for others. I didn't have any higher expectation for this song lyrically compared to any other song. I can see that when you compare to Shaklers, the lyrics of this song my matter more because that's all there is to it, it's a a striped down song mostly piano and vocals so that most focus goes to lyrics where, on other songs, there is a lot more going on.

At any rate, I'll leave it there and agree to disagree on this song. You like the lyrics, I don't. I'm glad we've got all this music coming out now and something for everyone it seems.....TWAT is still one of my favorite songs of all time...this album is already a classic in my mind, I don't hear ANY fluff.

I couldn't disagree more about the TIL lyrics. A cliche isn't a cliche when it's completely and obviously sincere.

I can completely relate to the way Axl has seemingly obsessed over Seymour for so long. I know how it feels to believe more than anything that nobody could mean as much to you as this one person who doesn't feel the same. Some people have endless relationships and get married multiple times, for others, people like Axl and myself, the breakdown of one such relationship.marriage is enough to mess you up bad, but to go through it again has a permanent emotional effect on you; you're never quite the same again.

This I Love isn't like some Tim Rice/Jon Bon Jovi made to order, by the numbers love ballad with cliched, empty platitudes; Axl means every single line in the song with every fibre of his being.

Before I'd heard the song once, when I read the lyrics, I knew it was going to be great because I related intensely to them, the same was I do to Twat, IRS, The Blues and Prostitute.

If you don't get/like it, you have to realise that when he sings 'I'd search the universe and find mysrlf in her eyes', he hasn't just knocked those words off like some session writer making a record for Britney Spears. There are times of emotional extremes when such sentiments are the absolute truth.

What a class A post.  This guy is good.

To each their own - live & let live etc...
I'll take Sorry over this one any day.

I understand the emotion behind it. I 'get' that part and that's one reason it's a good song but the lyrics could have given the same message while substituting out words here and there and the rushed lines etc.. stand out like a bad vocal take put on beautiful music. The saving grace for me is the emotion carried throughout-  I guess we just disagree on the lyric thing...... more power to you though, I am glad it's da bomb for you!

OH MY GOD!!!! THIS I LOVE IS AMAZING...

You know, a lot of people like this song and I am glad you do too but I think this is actually my least favorite so far. The line, "I'd still have to try" is rushed and the lyrics are the worst sappy/rhyme-every-single-line that's I've ever heard.

There are some parts that are brilliant and I do like the song, just compared to the others this is at the bottom of the list for me and I hate to say it's all due to the vocal performance.

I feel bad saying this as everyone seems to love it but that's the way I feel. A good solid song that could have been great, even amazing but a few bad parts in the vocals and horrible lyrics (IMO) take it down a few notches-

I'm in the loop as well so PM if you need, I've already gotten back to a few of you.
I am SO glad to see these songs had a good mastering job done on them, I was really worried about them pulling a Metallica on the final mastered sound. Anyway, won't it be great to have the higher quality sound when we get CD this weekend compared to the mp3's? Yay!

Alright, I am in the circle now, anyone else still waiting for PM's?

On a side note, this version of Shacklers converted me to LOVING this song. The game version has the guitars out front more (understandable) but it made the intro guitar percussive tot he point of hurting my ears, now it's thick and powerful and everything is mixed solid.

Yea, still waiting on PM's myself...... Peeps, drink your coffee and get active - this is the release week for CD- no sleeping for the next 5-10 days!
