I'd like to know what this version he got is like, how different it is (or not)......

Sounds like someone playing an angle. I'm starting to think the hoarder's motivation was to keep the fanbase from finding out these tracks are just okay music and nothing special.

I agree with him.
Guns fan since ‘87…
I LOVE “General”.

Why would I want songs
That sound like the classic stuff?
Give me growth and change!

I’m older, wiser…
Less full of heat and anger…
Music’s grown with me.

I don’t miss my youth.
I’ve been there, done that, and learned.
Let’s keep evolving!

I prefer these songs
To “Jungle” and “November”
(Of course, still love them!)

It’s still Axl’s voice
You can still hear Slash and Duff…
It’s a mature Guns.

Yeah i was thinking the other day, GNR songs are mostly based in real life emotions and events.

AFD = Street life, falling in love with Erin, growing up a rebel, life in 1980s LA, tragic life of people they knew and them.

UFI = Drama of the shock of fame, relationship with the media, pressures of fame/being a rock god/breakup with Erin/ Falling for Steph, trouble with the neibours / issues with izzy/slash/steph, questioning if should sacrifice life to fame.

CD = Breakup with Steph, Breakdown of relations with Slash/Duff/Izzy, Legal problems, self doubt, Rejection of fame and pressure, attempting to grow as a person, analysis of self.

Occasionally he leaves this MO and does big picture issues - like NR being partially about self but also inspired by Del's work. Or Civil War being about wider issues. Or Shackler's being about Collunbine or Catcher's being about his responce to others love of the book or whatever. But in general the albums are about his personal struggles.

These days he has 10s if not 100s of millions of dollars, even if being famous sucks he's had 40 years to get used to it,  and love life issues have been well covered. It's possible that aside from the odd project song he feels strongly about, or melody that he wants to share that becomes an ear worm for him or something, but like it's just possible he said his piece.

That's my theory - the band was grounded in drama and chaos, but they won, they made their coin and beat the world - but when your music is based around your fight with the world it doesn't give you much organic to write about.

If they do make an album, I'd expect it to talk about politics or philopsphy or whatever he still cares deeply about, as I think the dramas of their real lives have been solved at this point.

It just blows my mind
That some don’t seem to see this.
It’s obvious, right?

I never hated Scraped like everyone. The guitar is insane

I think for me the worst part of scraped is the intro vocal chants or whatever you want to call it. Also recording/production-wise there’s some either punch-in flaws or auto tune issues in that song that my ears always catch.

You can tell how cut and pasted everything is in scraped.
Even the guitar parts you can tell each guitar part is taken from three different places

I liked that aspect.
I think it’s what they wanted..
Sounded cool…stood out.

The leaks is probably what changed the album. They  just said fuck it and put everything that leaked on CD and a couple of extra tracks, so the follow up albums all had unheard songs

I think scraped would have been a B side but they threw it on CD as punishment for everything leaking and said yeah take this shit song instead of something better.

I think “Scraped” is great.
In fact, for me, Chinese D
Is my fav album.

And not just by Guns.
It’s my favorite ever
By any artist.

I’ve been a Guns fan
Since I was 14 years old
In ‘87.

I like what I like.
And I LOVE “The General”
And “Monster” kicks ass.

It’s evolution…
At least, that’s how I see it.
Music maturing.

How do you rate the demos vs. the released version?

Didn’t hear demos.
It just isn’t my style.
But mileage varies smile

I'm excited too but my expectations are not off the charts like they were in the 2000s.

The leaks started to lower them a bit and then the album release made me realize the project was overhyped.

Yeah, Prostitute kind was the one for me.  It's a good song and all but the hype was not close to what the song was.  I mean it's not Guns/Axl fault.  At the end of the day, it's just music and I'll enjoy it for what it is.

I have not listened
To any demos or leaks
Since 2008.

It’s all new to me…
Perhaps, Atlas, State of Grace…
Never heard any.

No locker room leaks,
Zero.  It’s ALL new to me.
So…I’m excited!!!
