We've went from not giving Axl enough credit to giving Slash too much credit, and now apparently Tobias was the mastermind of GNR.

LOL yeah

why he would even go through the trouble of doing it.

Cant say money because he's already rich. Cant say art because he obviously isn't interested in musical output.

Maybe its like madagas said all along....

He's just bat shit crazy.

i diagree with you there

not that he's crazy

but you're reasoning for him doing these things not for art

not all artists make their art for money

they sell their art for money, more specifically

musical output and money , which you have as two reasons, are the same reason in this case IMO

maybe he just wanted to play around with the money he already has lots of and create his art

for himself

he's far less motivated to actually sell it and fine tune and appease the label and the world, etc. etc.

Or maybe Axl was contractually obligated to put out a Guns N' Roses album?

"Do ya think I'm doin' this all for my health?"

he was....................

Yep. Somewhere along the line, Axl regained interest in rebooting GN'R and putting out an album. I think he signed the papers, got involved, then regretted it, but at that point, he was committed.

I've thought for a while that's why everything was so half ass from top-to-bottom.

.............but the contract is old and he was only motivated to return to the top back when he was still young and looking to get back at slash. it was after the dust settled with the old band that you could see that comeback becoming less and less important to him. and in '08 we saw how little the album release meant to him.

So Axl told Marco Beltrami every single note to play in TiL? Axl wrote the harp solos, etc?

no, but they did what he told them to do and these people are not hired guns.
they are contracted musicians. they do not, then, get songwriting credits.

good question though

good point but whoever wrote the riff he chooses should get a writing credit

I gotta say i agree with -D- here also

In the booklets they are giving credit to fewer people than in the ascap

booklet = anyone that wrote the inital base for the song or idea of the song first

ascap = anyone that contributed by writing any additional pieces like drums and solos

Axl doesn't play guitar or base and is in a hard rock band
he's not gonna write and record every note in every song by himself

This isn't a slam on him and i'm surprised that it is a surprise to anyone

another thing to consider is that lyrics with a melody and a couple chords on an acoustic guitar or piano is considered a written song. lyrics, alone, have been tantamount to proving ownership of a song in many court cases. any musician, on the other hand, can claim ownership of thier own creation even if it is within a song that they didn't solely write.

ascap has to legally consider every one that wrote a note.

as far as singing along with the leaks..........

i don't think axl has a problem with '"downloading motherfuckers" either

but

also consider the possibility that, unless you were singing along at the first concert to unveil that particular leak, he may have just though you heard them played live at another show

and that is the only thing that stopped him from jumping into the crowd and beating the piss out of you
