I think I'm the only one here who thinks Messages is boring and overrated.
I get what you mean. For me I don't like listening to sad songs all that often so I often skip it, like to me it's beautiful but it's kinda a bit too overdone or something.
Best way I could put it was that most of Contraband I wished Slash would be more Slash like...but then there's a handful of VR songs where it's sort of self consciously trying to be like GNR....the other one is Fall to Pieces....you can see how they'd make GNR tracks but without Axl it's a bit too by-the-numbers or something.
I think the gem of VR was something like Sucker Train Blues...can't get that song out of my head years later!

Come On Come In is basically rehashed Dirty Little Thing.
I never thought of it like that....not really hearing that much of a comparison...which part? The riff? I like the chorus vocals of Come On, Come In better anyway...it's very sing-a-long-able....

I love sopranos.
However was chatting with a mate the other day and we were saying it was better before it started with Flashbacks and dream sequences and things of that nature. It kinda got a bit much.
Amazing acting in the show though and so entertaining.

I love both VR albums in different ways.
On one hand Contraband had that Slash, Matt, Duff GNR style chemistry and Weiland was really nailing his hard rock rock feel. Only downside was I felt Slash was a bit underdone in the mix. These songs were a lot heavier live than they come across on the record.
Libertad on the other hand it was obvious during the rocky numbers that Slash wanted out of the Box...stuff like "Let It Roll" and "Just 16" has the signs of a classic slash coming out to play. Only downside to me is the overall song choice seemed a bit too ballad heavy - it needed a few more rockers to go with it I think. The libertad live shows were also very good though - although you can almost see the tension forming in the band.
I think a lot of the VR bonus stuff was underrated....obviously messages..but even some of the other non-album or bonus disc stuff...
Like Come On, Come In was a cool song, and I enjoyed the covers like Negative Creep and Surrender too.
I always thought the third album would have been the best as they seemed to be coming into themselves as a live act.

Personally I like the "hair metal" ones.
To me the first Skid Row Album is great, and Motley Crue is one of my favourite bands - they had some ups and downs but you can make great best off records and good live shows.

Love Flair...so many great moments. Hope he hangs in there.
I loved his WWE retirement match - such a great story!!
Even if I did see him in a local ring against hogan like 2 years later lol

edit: Isn't it amazing how much longer two years was back then?
So true. I blink now and we've gone past like 5 years.
As for Skid Row...i'm hanging for a remaster or special edition of their first record...I love that shit...great guitar tones on it too...

yeah there was a lot of buzz when Axl did trunk in 2006 then those hammerstein shows launching the tour....if they'd dropped the album mid way through that when the band was looking and sounding good (well as good as it can sound with robin not slash lol) then I think things would have been different. But a futher 2 year wait and then a promo less announcement. WTF is that. Obviously someone made Axl mad at the label so he decided to punish himself....

All the endorsements and sponsorships and licensing stuff would be easier to take if the band still made new music.
For instance you can buy Ac/Dc wine here, Ac/Dc toilet paper, hell I've seen clocks..just about anything....but I don't really mind because they put out new records every few years.
With GNR it's much harder...I mean you could say CD was only 10 years ago...but then considering most of it leaked years earlier...and that it was mostly written in the 1990s or whatever...in truth it's a very long time since they shared any creativity with us.
