Yeah, Monkey loves it too!
Those screams were pretty Zeppelin like, don't you think? I wasn't expecting that.
Totally!! The Riff is kinda Zeppelin-esque too in a way.
I like it as is - but I can imagine a Slash version on the same guitar parts would give it a much more sleezy zeppelin feel too - I like the way he does ryhthm when he does it.
It's funny too as Silkworms is often listed as people's "go to" for dissing the change of direction of the new band (and in fairness the Rio3 version is kinda whack) but I actually think there's a strong chance it could wind up as the most classic rock of the newer stuff if they resurrect it. Like it's way more rock themed than 1/2 of Chinese Democracy is at heart.
For all it's modern production the riff is straight up guitar and the vocals are pretty classic Axl. It would make a great rocker by the current line up.

guns n' roses ending with chinese democracy just doesn't feel right. a good album, but not a swan song.
Yeah especially when you consider it was written mostly in 1999 or whatever and its 2017 and they're still alive.

What exactly is supposed to be "out there" that hasn't leaked to the general public? Which songs?

Don't forget how close GNR got to imploding in the 1990s.
When they toured down here there was significant concern there would be a riot there were people protesting against even letting them come here.
Axl pushed things as far as he could get away with. But I think people would start to ask questions if it got too much worse.

I hate this with the fire of a thousand suns. The guy's one of the best guitarists of all time but eh, fuck em, he dresses like an late 70s serial killer. In the entertainment industry. For a band that used to wear makeup, hoop earrings, and leather exclusively. He was, if anything, too good for Gn'R.
He's a great guitarist but utterly wrong for GNR's old music which is what Axl ended up playing 90% of the time despite all the talk of educating the fan base into slowly accepting GNR as a progressive act or whatever.
His normal style of playing does not suit the AFD or UYI songs at all.
On top of that his gimmick is the bucket/raincoat/toys/numchucks which also seemed out of place in a classic rock band.
As a fellow guitarist I respect his skills on guitar but that doesn't make him the man for the job.

I thought bumble era was an improvement over 2002 to be honest.
Bucket is a cool guitarist but his image looked way out of place in GNR.
Bumble and the 2006 line up seemed more believable as the continuation of GNR's image - like real rockers.
What was a step down was the DJ era.
DJ seemed to be a nice guy but didn't come off as authentic on stage in Slash's role.

If there's only 11 left in total it seems so odd to have split it into 2 half seasons like this. I love the show but like watch 7 episodes then wait 18 months then watch another 7 is kinda frustrating lol.

i don't think axl wants to be remembered as the failed solo artist who was forced to get back with slash just to be relevant and profitable again...
I don't think he sees it that way though. He isn't hiding from Chinese era at all - the band plays it each night - he constantly reminds us fortus has been in the band 16 years - and he said in his most recent interview that the bumble line up was his personal favourite.

I suspect the others aren't formally prohibited from saying anything, they just don't want to risk upsetting Axl by answering a question badly.
I think fortus gets softer questions too because no one really expects him to be able to answer what the band will do.

And you can really, really feel how the writers no longer have source material to go on. It was noticeable last season, but glaring this season. It almost feels like fan fiction.
I feel this too. Also feels to me like it's kinda a season worth of action that has been turned into 3.
