Duff playing Attitude with Loaded - nobody gives a shit.
Duff playing Raw Power with Loaded - nobody gives a shit.
Duff playing these songs with a band called Guns N' Roses, which doesn't feature any other old member - people are getting excited.
Psychology is a bitch, isn't it?
But it does works for me as well. I'd love to get at least one full, pro-shot recording of these shows with Duff.
On the other hand if it's true that Axl got himself together for this Duff show (these shows) than future maybe brighter than we hoped. Maybe some present employees will be dropped for good, but Axl may (re)find some people that inspire him. I'm not talking about Slash - if Duff (and Izzy) could work with Axl and can make him care and things would be done, than it'd be really great. I'm still not excited, but right now I care much more than anytime since CD.

Thanks for clarifying your stance.
So, to you, Ax is damned if he does, and damned if he doesn't, right? Neither the current band or the reunited AFD/UYI/TSI lineup could win you over because Axl is 20+ years older now and has, granted, lapsed since his middle-age peak in 2006-7. You're making it hard to please yourself by setting the bar that high with this band
Not the 20 years, don't spin my words. Axl is a bloated, lazy ass motherfucker who can't sing anymore. He can't even breath anymore. I used to want a reunion a lot, but in his current state I don't want a reunion parody, cause without the real Axl, it would be that. I see a very little chance for Axl's coming back to a reasonable level. So I rather have no reunion at all.

Talking about "myths"...a few years? Slash left in late 1996 and Duff left in August, 1997. It wasn't even a year. since April 1994 with the exception of a BRIEF feel period with Zakk
Wylde and a 2 week initial period with Guns N' Roses in the late fall
of '95. He (Slash) has been "OFFICIALLY and LEGALLY" outside of the
Guns N' Roses Partnership since December 31, 1995."Anyway you and Smoking are the ones turning this into a Slash vs. Axl thread. As far as I can tell people are either defending Duff or just happy that they'll get to see Axl/Duff together again.
Izzy plays with Axl, bad!!!
Duff plays with Axl bad!!!
If Slash played with Axl without any of the others from the classic line-up, you would not give a fuck.
Alright, then it was one and a half year. Still not years.
On the other hand, please quote me saying that Duff joining Axl is a bad thing. Otherwise shut up.
BTW you are so butthurt by Axl's sub-shit performances that you're trying to act like I'd have made it an Axl vs. Slash thread. Read back. I was speculating on Duff's motives (wake up, it's a fan forum!), then some of you came up with the "it's only like Izzy rejoining GN'R in 1993" and the ancient and superstrong Axl-Duff friendship nonsense.

I know that Duff is very thankful to Axl for taking care of him in his hardest weeks, but I wouldn't go too far to put the Axl/Duff relationship above the Slash N' Duff friendship. I know that these are tiny little details, but they together sued Axl (maybe even two times) AFTER the pancreas incident and they had that band Velvet Revolver, and - I know that I mentioned, but it's such a tiny little thing one can easily forget - they performed as Guns N' Roses without Axl. They also toured a few months ago as Kings of Chaos, while that so strong Axl-Duff friendship doesn't have too much history in the past 15 years.
Anyway, the most likely scenario is that Duff will play with Axl, maybe Axl will get his shit together a little bit more not to be ashamed in Duff's eyes, the crowd will be happy, the online fan base will have something interesting to watch and listen, and jack shit will happen considering a full reunion or a civilzed Axl-Slash-relationship. I still think that the So Fine-setlist is an April's Fool joke, but let's hope it'll happen and Axl will not butcher it. Maybe Duff's mission is to save Axl, cause he saw some Brazilian shows and knows that now Axl needs his help.

Mikkamakka wrote:Smoking Guns wrote:I think if Duff had some real integrity and back bone he would say, "If Slash can't play I can't either" and leave it at that. That would take balls.
Maybe Duff doesn't need the money that much, he doesn't need Axl's "friendship" that much and he doesn't want to ease the Madman towards Slash that much... maybe he has plenty of free time and wants to piss Slash, cause the Top-Hatted One has been blocking VR for 7 years now. I'm not saying that this is the scenario, but about as legit as any other explanation.
Just thinking, do you guys think there was any bad blood between Izzy and Slash/Duff after he broke the ice and started playing live with Axl in 2006?
Pretty much the same deal to me, all of them know the score in Axl Land.
Say, have you heard this one?
If you read /jarmo phonetically out loud, the first thing you'll say is Slash...
I think that Izzy was Axl's best buddy. They broke up and then years later sorted things out to a certain level. I think that also both Duff and Slash think Izzy is more of Axl's friend than theirs, and he's always been. So Izzy appearing on stage with Axl was quite "normal". Not a big deal. Since Izzy didn't have a fall-out with Slash N' Duff, it was also normal that he played with them.
So there was this Axl N' Izzy thing, and on the other hand there was the Slash N' Duff and Slash N' Steven friendship. These 3 relationships were tighter on the human level than the others.
(No wonder Axl felt estranged when newcomers Matt and Gilby also joined the Slash N' Friends circle.)

Some amazing stuff's going on here!
(Slash should practice a little more on the 12-string though )

Why? He's not married to Slash. They don't have any contracts. Why should Slash care if an old band mate of his went out and played with another old band mate of his? There are no rapes or murders here, a band ended and that's it. Duff doesn't have any moral responsibility to not hang with Axl. He left the band 20 years ago on amiable terms.
For me any collaborations between original members is a good thing. If Axl is on good terms with Duff and Izzy, and Slash is on good terms with Duff and Izzy, the higher the likelihood of Axl and Slash getting on better terms at some point.
If somebody starts to raise a stink everybody loses out.
When two people sue and counter-sue each other and try to do legally (or publicly) what they can to make the other feel miserable, then it's very rare that you can have a good relationship with both. Especially when you are (thought to be) great friends with one of them and you together sued the other. When the "other" stole your band and made you quit; when almost 20 years later he shat on your lifetime achievement, canceling it in the last minute; when you said "fuck it" and did play without him, but with your "great friend" and his singer; when the other is well known for throwing out and banning your great buddy's fans; when the other is well-known for his "with me or against me" attitude when it comes to the hated person and barely even talks to anyone who has connection with The Devil.
But yeah, you are probably right, it's no biggie.
