Guys somethings wrong with Monkey.
He's being too positive it's really creeping me out.

I was positive about everything until about 2012.
Historically I was a fan of both bands, like I grew up with AFD/UYI era then got into the CD era lineups pretty hard as well. Even the DJ era.
Amongst my favourite records are Snakepit1 and Chinese Democracy - so I've always been a fan of all line ups and solo stuff.
But 2012 was when I lost faith. After the raincoat RIR4 incident...and the following few years of bad choices I got pretty frustrated. Add to that some real crap personal stuff has happened to me last 4 or so years and i've been taking my depression out on poor old
But I do love GNR really.

I'm so pathetic really.
Like I was mad last night because I felt they misled us wth the #AFD30 thing.
Also it frustrates me how easily they could make something epic I like (generic slash riff, couple of token Axl screams and i'd buy it!!) but yet they seem to have no interest in recording.
These things can bring a guy to tears haahahah.
But at the same time there was also some killer shit last night.
Gibbo found some awesome videos online....
Even though I'm mad I can forgive them watching cool shit like that!

I can take Axl's side on this kinda thing. There's a lot of pressure to deliver and people would hold him accountable if the show goes bad even if it is some wider issue that wasn't directly on him.

Interesting you guys didn't like Axl on jungle. I actually thought the first half of the show was one of his better vocal performances this year - it went to shit in the second half though - stuff like "yesterdays" honestly sounded bad if you're used to older versions of it.
But I thought he opened well with Easy, Brownstone, CD etc

And the AFD30 billboards and such are acknowledging a landmark album, but at no point was last nights show officially labeled as a celebration of that album. I understand people making that assumption,
Well from the other side of the coin, i can understand why longterm fans as us who have been jaded by all the previous misfires choose to believe in nothing....but I think it's stretching it to imply it's all fans making an assumption.
Lets be honest - the band got a custom channel on the radio dedicated to them, they set a tour date on the exact anniversary of their most famous album's landmark birthday, instead of a regular stadium show they chose to make it in an intimate famous theatre and make tickets prizes etc, they hung up billboards around the city of the theatre in advance saying #afd30, they used that same hashtag all across their social media in the days leading up to the show, then the venue itsself was reportedly decked out in AFD30 posters and logos.....
So if anyone assumed this show had something to do with AFD30 and not just another NITL show....well then really the band have themselves to blame for that.....

Even the media was into the concept that something big was going to go down:

It only frustrates me so much because of what could be.
Imagine Axl did his Ac/Dc scream voice over some Slash riffs on a new song. Would be so amazing.
It looks awesome:

But then they serve up Seeker as the special show for #afd30
#1098 Re: Guns N' Roses » AFD_30 » 460 weeks ago
Yeah it's a real case of Axl can still sing some of the songs and not others.
Like he's ok on Jungle and Nightrain or reasonable anyway - but some like yesterdays he's just scarily bad. Basically if Axl's tone worries you then you're limited to watching like 1/2 the set now.
Frank used to be ok back in the 2000s but he really seems to fuck up a lot now.
As you said Slash is really the only thing saving the day from absolute disaster. The tragic bit is the stuff with him and forus is really good. Makes me realise what they could still do in the studio etc if anyone gave a shit in the band lol

I wasn't necessarily expecting Izzy or Steven given the politics...but you'd think on a special radio broadcast for #afd30th that they'd promoted as the 30th anniversary show they'd have done something unusual rather than just ignore the anniversary.
It's the psychology of it that worries me, it just shows they are absolutely lightyears away from doing anything new at all.
At every chance to vary things up they almost always just do the most default thing possible.
Looks like we might get Axl/Dc and Slash with Myles next year - that's probably the closest to new GNR music we'll hear for 3+ years at this stage.
And then i wouldn't rule out Axl doing one last retirement leg instead.

Ok maybe not months but for weeks they promoted the shit out of the radio channel...and they keep going on about #afd30 and whatever....all so they can ignore the 30th of it?
It's just bizzare even for them.
