Imagine Guns` and Axl/DC albums same year. Won`t happen I know but would be awesome.

Imagine if in 2011 if you took odds on a 2016 GNR Reunion with Slash and Duff world tour coinciding with an Ac/Dc world tour fronted by Axl 16

At this point I think literally anything can happen with this band 5

As insane as it sounds I think there's almost fairly good of it happening, I mean Axl/Dc seems like it will happen for sure, and then even Axl releases music sometimes and we are coming up on 30 years since AFD and nearly 10 years since CD....and there is a vault of nearly done stuff burning a hole in some computer somewhere....

Sooner or later it's going to be Christmas morning for us fuckers.

UPDATE:

Nikki Sixx rejected the rumour today:

"A radio station recently posted a bullshit article that is getting picked up by the press because the press only wants ‘press’ SAD,” the rocker posted on Facebook. “Motley is not getting back together… I wish the press had more credibility and wouldn’t shit on fans’ feelings… Anything to get someone to click on their website so they can sell advertising… SAD… The press is supposed to report the news, not make up gossip or spread it….”

I can't blame them, the previous 'retirement tour' was obviously far too soon. They've got another 10-20 years of nostalgia tours if they space them out well enough.

It did seem early to me too - like when you have people like the stones, ac/dc and aerosmith carrying on into their old age and mostly still impressing audiences.

Although I guess in the longer term there's Mick Mars' health - who knows how his condition degenerates each year poor guy. Before this whole retirement thing - I figured the future of Motley would be to eventually add DJ Ahba in as a replacement for Mars. After all he has their look, he contributed to 'Saints of La' and of course he's also in Sixx:Am with Nikki.

Starting a new tour would be a massive WTF given all the long winded "Go out at our best, not play fairs" rants from the band members in the media , but lets face it, they wouldn't be the first band to retire then go back on it. Hell, if Axl can play with Slash again in this lifetime, I think we all know that things change.

I'm keen for a new album though. They promised a new album about a year before "The End" tour, but instead it got shelved and they just released  the singles "Sex" and "All Bad Things". I think their contract (which they could avoid anyway) never even said anything about recording, just live shows. So there's nothing stopping a new album other than to drop it with no tour doesn't make financial sense these days.

Looking forward to the biopic. If anything it'll just be an entire metaphor for all these bands, which would make a good concept. Sorta moprh stories together like Almost Famous did to the 70s rockers.

I loved the book. As you say a metaphor would be cool as hell too - a bit like Rock of Ages and Rockstar too - you could imagine someone could do a really good 80s rock story about the insanity of the period.

Alright guys, that was fun. Time for 5 days of no posts.

18 It has got a bit like that around here.

Despite the insane history of all this I feel that between SMK&C, Axl/Dc, and GNR's AFD anniversary, vault ready to go, and the Europe festival legs of the reunion tour....with all this stuff coming up...I'm sort of optimistic we might actually get something new soon. Even if it's an AFD remaster or a proshot of this tour or something.

Mötley Crüe rumoured to be working on “top secret” new album with tour to follow in 2018

Legendary sleaze rockers Mötley Crüe are apparently working on a “top secret” new album and planning a tour to follow for sometime at the end of 2018 despite having previously signed a contract never to tour again.

Cindy Scully from 97.1 The Eagle Scully Morning Show has reported in part on kegl.iheart.com;

‘The rumor is that MÖTLEY CRÜE been working on a top secret new album. Sources are admitting there are strong indications that Motley will return to the studio for a new album in conjunction with a Netflix biopic starting production soon.

According to a source close to the band, the early stages of recording rumors are true, with as many as eight songs….

Mötley Crüe are rumored to be planning a worldwide tour at the end of 2018. REPS are not giving ups any information on a new album, or any of the rock band’s future plans.

What about the special contract put in place so that they would never perform again? That apparently stipulates only “unless they ALL voided the contract together”.

The source claimed “Mick is the one who made this happen. ” They also claim that this will definitely be THE END after the movie hits Netflix and they do a special world tour for the new album.’

I wouldn't be surprised if the holdup on releasing leftover Chinese tracks is Slash and Duff. Why would they want to play on and release tracks they wouldn't have writing credits on...FOR THEIR OWN BAND no less.

Same reason they play them live with no complaint.  It's the only way to Axl's heart. 16

Or you could look at it from the other perspective - if they want to do a follow up tour in 2 or 3 years and reap another harvest of cash they will need to release an album or go down a venue level. So they have a bit of reason to make a GNR follow up too.

The other issue is Axl may release those songs anyway. He doesn't actually need them to put out a new album - it's not like he wouldn't have versions with DJ and others. So the choice they have is get to contribute something and alter the course of the song a bit, or do nothing, and wind up covering robin/dj/bumble/bucket AGAIN in 2 years. If I was them i'd be keen as shit to start getting back onto the records. THere's already too many songs without them in the catalogue now.

So here's my little fantasy

Rest of this year:

Slash records solos for Axl's vault.
Slash records SMKC.
Axl tinkers with GNR trakcs.

Next Year:
Axl Records Axl/Dc.
SMKC album launch and tour

Year After:
Axl DC album launch and tour.
Perhaps even Axl/DC shows with SMKC opening up?

Year After:

GNR vault album with slash is released
GNR tour to support vault album

A new album, but more importantly IMO, a hit single.  One hit single and people will stop talking reunion, and start talking comeback.

Something akin to when Ac/Dc dropped "Rock and Roll Train" from the "Black Ice" album would do the trick. Obviously didn't do pop numbers but went right up the rock charts, and announced the band was back with a new reunion album.

Question is what would the downtime be realistically? I mean they have some recordings in the vault which Slash could add to in literally a few days.

But then realistically I feel like it would be more like 2 years by the time we add in some tinker time, some market-refresh time from this tour, and a bit of procrastination and negotiation time.

totally...Madagascar really inspired me after Rio3....it really gave me hope that even though new NGNR was going to be different to traditional GNR it would still be artistically great.

Although the production doesn't make the same choices I would I still think it's a beautiful song, one of my favourites.

As for CD, that riff with Slash's style sounds amazing on the current tour. I really like the feel he brings to the CD songs.

if he can sing ac/dc songs like that live, imagine what he can do in the studio!

Yes! This thought makes me happy. Like he sounded amazing on some of that Ac/Dc stuff - like Shoot to Thrill, Givin' The Dog a Bone and so on.

With a new album they could make his parts suit that voice...I think the problem with much of the old GNR stuff is its hard with his current voice...but new songs could be designed to have lots of those screams that can still do and less of the midrange singing he has problems with.

i think we'll get new music one way or another. there's too much money involved to let this die with 1 world tour.

I hope so. Logically they could do several album cycles and ride this out for 10 years. But its hard to know with Axl - he hasn't always done what I'd expect to put it mildly lol
