I believe dj is actually back in oz now or was a week or two ago. There was talk that he was buying a property here. As for the hotel room he us obviously retelling the situation if when he heard some if this other material, presumably while they were last on tour.

Poor DJ sounds like he has taken over from Bach as the one man Axl cheer squad.
Next we will hear how mindblowing it all is and then Axl will be doing guest vocals on a couple of Sixx AM tracks.

My guess is they wouldn't have buried him at sea but probably have taken the body back with them. It's just easier to tell everyone that they did.
Same deal if they had actually managed to take him alive there would be no way they would tell people that. Take him back torture him to get what info they can then when they're done kill him. That's what I'd do if I was running the show.
