I actually like what he said in that video.
What I doubt though is his ability to deliver those things.
In reality, he is the representative of the GOP which, just like the democratic party also, has been in the service of large corporations and other billion dollar interest groups for generations now.
Likewise as a born millionaire, now billionaire, he is both from and has perpetuated the type of inequality and 'establishment-interests' that he is now supposedly championing against.
How is he the figure head of normal people when his life is anything but normal? How is the representative of the oldest political party in the system being painted as an outsider?
What he says is what a lot of people want I have no doubt, but it's a straight up con job to think this stuff can come from this person.

I dunno about the rest of you but I have eaten so much shit for being a GnR fan over the past 16 or so years, I remember once even getting random abuse on the street for wearing a GnR t-shirt like some guys do for wearing the wrong football jersey in the wrong part of the country.
& now all these trendy fucks think GnR are the dogs balls all of a sudden. Now they're all buying into the fucking bullshit. Fuck those fair weather fuckers.
Yeah it's like that around here too. Suddenly everyone I know is a GNR fan and they all love the songs again. Absurd after I took shit for liking something from the 1980s and let alone if you dare mention going to a show.

Yeah I don't think it's Frank's fault they play fast either. I just think his style doesn't suit the GNR material as much as Matt.
YCBM needs to be played by Matt, and even though I have a soft spot for adler, the Brownstone intro has never been the same without Matt either.
Matt locks in with Duff in a way that created an amazing backbone of a band, both in the UYI days, and also in VR.
Frank isn't bad...in fact I kinda prefer him over brain....but he just doesn't have that same magic touch that Matt had chemistry wise is all.

They aren't missing anything with Sorum or Adler, IMO.
The thing is now the drumming is just adequate rather than good.
You don't listen to it and think "great drumming" - it's just there. It's not bad either...just neutral.

Matt is an arrogant dickweed, he has a huge ego for a drummer. If you have seen VR documentary, you will draw the same conclusion.
Thing is that was the right call....the GNR guys were light years above the people auditioning with them...and scott was the only dude out of that bunch of singers who could take the band where it went. The GNR/STP supergroup angle won them a ton of media attention that translated in the end into millions of record sales and also grammies and critical acclaim.
He was blunt about it - but he also wasn't wrong.
I also find it absurd that this example is always trotted out as proof that matt is an asshole when it's one incident, and the whole of his pro career and charity work say otherwise.
I mean how many filmed examples are there of Axl having bad days are there? None of that counts to anyone but because on a doco after months of frustration, Matt seemed to be being a bit of a dick on ONE DAY during a jam session?
Axl fired him without a second thought. what makes anyone think he`s willing to bring Scrotum back. Frank has less ego and is way cheaper, perfect choice from business point of view.
If Axl can make friends with Slash again I think he can make friends with Sorum. Besides Axl is notorious for getting angry and going on firing rampages then changing his mind.
As for frank...yeah it makes business sense...if the priority is money....which it seems to be.

It's about the sound to me not nostalgia.
Each of the drummers has a unique style - as I said in a perfect world Adler would do AFD, Sorum the UYI stuff and Frank for CD - although I'll grant Brain for CD would probably be even closer - but I didn't consider him available for it although I guess he might be.
Anyway the thing for me is those Matt parts on the UYI stuff are quite distinctive of his style (same with in VR) and it's noticeable when someone does it a bit differently. It's a bit like saying the only reason to prefer Slash over DJ would be nostalgia - although admittedly much more subtle with the drums.
As for the stuff about him being a bad guy, well I've not met him, but I know he does a ton of charity work and has maintained pro music relationships with a host of people - see Kings of Chaos, Hollywood Vampires etc. Maybe he is but I doubt it.
To be honest I find it really bizarre how out of all the suspicious characters in and around GNR Matt is the guy singled out by the fanbase as a bad person. Like really? Matt? That's who you think is questionable in this whole saga???
#1248 Re: Guns N' Roses » New GNR Airplane » 498 weeks ago
Except that Axl and Duff regularly played with him through 2012-2015 in Kings of Chaos.

GNR have a plane, therefore they can't afford Sorum, therefore the show is shit? Really?
That's not what I said.
I didn't say the show is shit - as if anything with Axl and Slash together could be shit. Lets face it - they could put you, me, and miss piggy as the rest of the band and with Slash on guitar and Axl on vocals it's going to sound awesome.
Of course they can afford sorum, like they can afford the plane, and most anything else when this tour is bringing in 100s of millions. But I have to ask why when the tour makes so much money are decisions being made that reduce the quality in favour of profit.
Let's face it - the perfect solution both for authenticity and sound output would have been to have Adler on the AFD song, Sorum on UYI numbers and Frank on the CD tracks.
That would make the show the best it can be. But it didn't happen because of $ which is absolutely absurd when you consider how much money each of these people have.
At least with Adler there's health questions, and with Izzy there's reliability issues, but with Sorum it just turns out they'd rather not pay him what he is worth - even if it means we have lesser drumming. I can't respect that - especially when you look at the size of the entourage they do cart around the world.

The $$$ savings from having Frank over Matt are really coming in!
Never mind the quality of the show, the fans won't notice, and this way with a private plane you can be even more secretive and secluded than normal!
