@ Trent Edwards, Yeah, just heard they went on this season's worst records ("worst teams get first crack at him") not last years. Seahawks wanted him, but couldn't get him. Well, at least he'll get a chance to start. Good for him.

The Jeff Fisher/Vince Young thing: I seriously think the problem is that Fisher has zero respect for Young. He's willing to put Kerry Collins in at any moment Young screws up. I think Young has some serious leadership problems, and in all seriousness, I've heard he's really not that bright. And being forced to watch Titans games I can tell you any time Vince gets rattled he loses it. He gets shaken and never recovers. Most NFL "analyst" only look at when things go perfectly for him. He does shine in that situation. But he does not rise up at any sign of diversity. Not in the NFL at least. I have to agree with Fisher. I think the moment when Young refused to go back into the game a couple seasons back totally ruined any trust Fisher had in him. How can you trust Young?

There are a lot of politics at play in the Jeff Fisher/Vince Young situation.  I believe it is a Bud mandated "play Vince or else" edict.  That being said Kerry Collins was awful in 2009 and had the same amount of issues when he is being rushed or hurried.  Seriously, blitz that guy up the middle and he either fumbles or throws an int or a pass out of bounds.

The 8-2 record by Young including the 99 yard drive to beat Arizona buys him this year for me.  I'm still waiting for him to beat a good defense though, the last few times he has faced one he has struggled.  He'll have another shot in 2 weeks at Dallas.

I guess my issues and frustrations are mostly with Jeff Fisher and his inability to change his style.  Even if they make the playoffs, I forsee a Marty Schotenheimer implosion in the playoffs.  I'll give Fisher credit for this one though:  He took a really awful offensive team into the playoffs in 2007.  That team had Eric Moulds (he was old and useless then) starting at WR, Lendale Whie (fat and useless) at RB and Vince Young at QB.

There aren't any average QB's on the Titans roster if Young flames out.  Collins is done and a rookie is the 3rd stringer.   The weird thing is that Young has winning record as a starter; something like top 5 winning % since he started in 2006.  At this point he isn't an elite qb, but he's better than Leinart/ Jamarcus Russell bust territory.  He's basically average at this point.

On Edwards to Jacksonville, works well for them.  Their backup blew out an ACL a few weeks ago.  Also, it gets Mike Sims Walker a reprieve on my FF team.  I was close to dumping him after his  2 catch 34 yd performance.

Perhaps.  But I think you're underestimating the gender inequality issues that women still face in the workplace.  It's more likely that society rewards style over substance.  I mean what exactly have Kim Karadashian or Paris Hilton ever done that is noteworthy?  I don't count starring in sex tapes as noteworthy.  And yet they get 5,000x press coverage than some woman who actually does something good in the world.

If Buffalo did that to your defense I'd be very scared. I knew The Patriots D was going to be average this year, because your secondary and linebackers are young, but WOW. I'm shocked. Where is your pass rush, dude?

I really wish Miami would get Trent Edwards, but they like their backup. But I'm happy for the guy that he's getting as far away from that team as possible. Awful O-Line and terrible coach... And owner. No one is going to succeed in Buffalo. It's a shame because I think they could be a good team. But really, comparing Fitzpatric against the Patriots D (which, he did blow the game for them, btw) against the Packers and Dolphins defense that Edwards went against, I think is pretty funny. Plus, Gailey did an AWFUL job calling those first 2 games.

According to Mort (ESPN) these are the teams that really want Edwards: Carolina Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets and Seattle Seahawks.

The Jets are the sexy pick, but I hope he ends up with The Seahawks, who supposedly are the ones who want him the most. He'd be playing this week if he signs with The Panthers though 16

I think Edwards is still eligible for waivers and if the Seahawks put in a claim they'll get him.  I believe they get waiver priority since they are still going by 2009 records and since the Seahawks have the worst record of those interested teams, they'll get a first crack.  I do think that this makes Seattle trade for Charlie Whitehurst kinda stupid though.

Miami's offense looked pretty good on SNF.  I wish they'd run the ball more.

On a general league note, I can't remember the last time that special teams play was so shitty on a league wide basis for one week.  GB, OAK, SD, NE, NYG all had very bad weeks on ST.  SD in particular gave up like 250 KR yards.

Is Darius Butler benched for the Pats?  I read somewhere that they took him out for a while in the BUF game and then reinserted him where he proceded to give up several completions before being yanked permanently.

faldor wrote:

They're built like the Colts teams that used to fail in the playoffs.  It's all on Brady and the offense.

Is this a philosophical shift?  It seems like the past few years they've been loading up on offense and filling in the defensive needs afterward?  I still think they should have taken an edge rusher with one of their numerous picks during either of the pass two years.  I think they had a shot at Clay Matthews but traded the pick to the Packers for a second rounder.

As for the Titans, I'm happy they won even though they gave up close to 500yds of total offense to the NYG.  They caused key turnovers though which didn't happen last year.  But Jeff Fisher, please throw more than FOUR times in the first fucking half?  He's gong to get Chris Johnson killed at this point with the workload he's getting.  Shockingly, though the Titans special teams played well this week.

I'm wondering when the Vince Young/Jeff Fisher feud will come to a head.  These guys do not like each other at all.  In between Fisher planting hit pieces in the media on Young and Young just basically ignoring Fisher, this is getting to be difficult for Jeff Fisher to handle.  Fisher's slick like a sleazy politician too.  This will not end well for Jeff unless he wins a SB or several playoff games or Vince Young gets injured.  Chris Johnson seems to be fully behind Vince Young and has questioned some of the ultra conservative play calling as well.  So that's your two biggest stars (including one who has the backing of the owner) that's he's alienated or peeved off.

Rice is playing the sorry ass Browns right.  That's gotta be a game where they give him some carries.  Only bad part is Willis "TD Vulture" Magahee.  MJD goes off this week I think; he should get at least 100yds combined at least.  JAX lost their backup QB to an ACL injury.  OTOH they play the Eagles who haven't been good on D.

I'd watch the 49er game and see if Josh Morgan gets a bunch of targets.  He might be a really nice cheap WR pickup.

Not sure about Cutler this week; their OT Chris Williams is a little dinged up and the Packer pass rush is pretty good.  I'm benching Forte this week; undecided about Knox.

FF Game to avoid:  PIT vs TB nothing good can come out of this game; unless you own one of their Defenses.

I still don't know what the hell Buffalo is doing.  Draft a RB with a top 10 pick and relegate him to KR (and PR) and have him 3rd on the depth chart.  RB is one of the easiest positions to come in and contribute.  The only excuse for not getting carries is injury.

Beanie Wells looks like he'll actually play this week vs OAK.  The QB situation in Philly makes me wonder whether or not they should have just kept McNabb.

Braylon Edwards didn't really get disciplined by the Jets for his DUI.  He won't start but he'll still play, not much of a punishment if you ask me.

Any team that signed Vick would have been subjected to a PR nightmare.  Some of the things that came out about him were really disturbing.

On a football level, I'm just shocked that the Eagles are looking into moving Kolb so soon.  This might backfire on them if Vick gets injured (which has happened before) or just starts sucking again.  Who's the 3rd qb?  Might be better to hold onto him as his value can't be that high.

#1367 Re: The Garden » 2010 Fantasy Football » 816 weeks ago

Picked up Darren McFadden, Brandon Pettigrew, and Demariyus Thomas today.  I'm definitely starting DMac vs ARZ and their crappy run D.  Bruce Gradkowski is starting for OAK instead of Jason Campbell.  Louis Murphy might be an interesting WW candidate (if he's still available).

Who had Harvin in their team again?  More migrane trouble and a hip injury.  Only good news is he plays the Lions whose defense stinks.

WR3--which one to pick Austin Collie, Johnny Knox,  Demariyus Thomas or Mike Sims Walker.  I'm leaning toward Walker.  I could also use another one of these guys in a flex spot (along with Pettigrew).

I ended up dumping CJ Spiller since I had no use for him and the Bills O looks beyond awful.

They already have Kolb on a long deal.

Kolbs only signed for next year.  I don't know the details but it's 12 million for this year & next.  So it's doubtful he'll stay on again as a backup.  Its a big clusterfuck.  Kolb was supposed to be given the season, or at least 6-8 games.  They gave him 2 quarters.

FWIW, the Browns have called the Eagles regarding a Kolb trade.  The Vick story is interesting to me (the rebirth of his career not the dogfighting stuff).

faldor - signing hank could be a bluff to get the chargers to lower their asking price and reports are that the vikings are still in serious negotiations with the chargers so it could simply mean the vikings aren't going to be content with signing jackons alone, considering that harvin is hurtand the rest of the wr's are terrible.

Problem here is that AJ Smith (Chargers GM) is a hardline negotiator.  He
doesn't get what he wants (reportedly a 2nd and 3rd round pick) Jackson stays on the sideline this year.  Someone will have to blink here.

Percy Harvin had another migrane issue again today.  I still think they'll beat the Lions but it might be a close game.

28th in the league in rushing yards will lose you most games. 2nd in pass yards (Manning passed Romo monday night) isn't that impressive when you lead in pass attempts, by 15, through only two weeks. I stand by what I said last year about them not being nearly as talented as their fans imagine and the media wishes them to be.

The NFC East is really weak this year so any team could win it, but the NFC champion is not sitting in that division.

I think they're overrated too but with those RBs and that big OL they should be running the ball more especially with their OT issues in the first two weeks.  This comes back to Jason Garrett.  I think they have a good shot at beating the Texans though.  The Texans are pretty crappy against the pass.

On Jeff Fisher, when the owner calls you out in April about past playoff screwups (especially in 2008) and talks about how his life would be complete with a Super Bowl win (he's 89), you pretty much have to at least win a playoff game to keep your job.  He hasn't won a playoff game since 2003.  He lost to a 4th string qb at home this week.

He does have a difficult task in that he has to accomplish these things with Vince Young.  He clearly doesn't trust Vince Young.  But the owner is in Vince Young's corner.  As long as Vince Young shows some improvement/skills as a QB he'll remain the starter barring injury.  Jeff just can't install Kerry Collins as his starter again, Bud will put a stop to that.

I think Fisher's coaching in Dallas next year or spewing his bs on the tv screen as an analyst.

It has Kelly MacDonald in it so I'll watch it at some point soon.

Thank god I had a big lead going into MNF otherwise I would be complaining since my opponent had Gore, Vernon Davis and 49ers D.  Ended up winning by like 30 pts.

It'll all be okay.

I would have had 110 points if it weren't for benching Hightower for Stewart. Still can't get over it.

I dropped Beanie Wells over the weekend since I have no idea when he'll be back.  Looks like Hightower will get the majority of the carries here despite his fumble problems.

Stewart is still in RBBC in CAR.  Hard to know when he'll get any consistent carries at all.

Faldor,

what's going on with the QB thing?  It might not be such a bad idea to hold onto Vince Young for one more week.  He can't get any worse than last week and he faces a 4-3 defense this week (more familiar to him). I'd definitely get rid of him by the Dallas game though (week 5).

Keep an eye on Marshawn Lynch.  There have been rumors that GB is interested in him.  He'd produce better numbers than Jackson there.  It would also free up more playing time for CJ Spiller.  A win-win for both teams.
