Axl picks good collaborators.
You mean the god awful Robin Finck? He's the second worst guitar player of all time. Paul Tobias is the king of the 6-string nobodies though. DJ Ashba is very impressive, too and Fortus who can't play slide guitar and butchers even his tiny little spot in Rocket Queen.
Only Buckethead is better as a guitarist than Myles as a singer (technically). But since 90 percent of BH's stuff is damned boring, I rate Myles higher, since he can write songs, unlike Buckethead.
BTW I can't wait to hear how Axl will sound during his new live shows. The worst professional singer alive.

Is anyone surprised? They've been doing the tribute band routine for a decade or even longer, with an old album dropped (forced by the label) somewhere on the road. They are still not ready to confess it though.

I agree that he's nasal in the higher range and his voice is thinning in that region, which doesn't soung good. He hits the notes though, which is much more than other singers can offer even an octave lower. I think he's a professional singer and a hard-working musician, who deserves repsect, cause he can sing almost anyone's stuff and he's a great songwriter, too. I thinh his lyrics are hit or miss - I enjoy Starlight, Not for me and a lot of other tunes, but this One Last Thrill nonsense refreshes my Scott Weiland shocks.
I'm not saying he's up there with the all-time greats, cause he doesn't have enough charisma, he's not that unique and hasn't had that mind-blowing success, but year by year, he wins these polls. I think he's probably the best active rock singer out there, or at least among the best. I really like what he can bring as a musician and song-writer, too. I think the new Alter Bridge record is very strong, so the intensive touring and writing only made him better.
I'm looking forward the next Slash N' Myles album, which won't be the blues record I'd want, but a darker and heavier stuff could only soung good.

Congrats to Myles Kennedy! I wish that GN'R/Axl fans would be more open to somebody this good.

I don't think anyone should see Axl as the saviour of rock and roll after this rant. Yeah, he's speaking his mind - but this is an uninspired boring shit and not funny at all. If this is what he can offer creativity wise, then no wonder they haven't made anything new for a decade. Even Sorry is Dylan Thomas quality, compared to this crap. RHCP's fake performance was pathetic - but Axl's response was even worse, although he meant to be the winner criticizing the obvious failure.

So here we are. Like prize fighters training and training for the fight of our lives. Now the big fight is upon us. We are lean. We are mean and we are, most assuredly, fighting machines.
I have to admit that conceptually I felt that Apocalyptic Love would be a tough act to follow but I can say with all the confidence in the world that we are more than armed and ready. Not only do I feel that the material surpasses Apocalyptic Love I think we are ten times the band we were when that album was recorded.
The material on this album is more serious and more fun at the same time which is a tough balance indeed. The songs are sleazier, tougher and more dangerous. Exactly where I feel most comfortable. We are all very excited to unleash the monster upon you as soon as we can.
We enter the studio early February and will work through the next few months. No plans as to when anything will be finished. It’ll be done when it’s done. I know we all hope to be back out on the road sooner than later but we’ll see.
A lot of things are bizarrely familiar. Frankie, the camera guy, is there filming and snapping away at everything as of this past week just like 2 years ago during the making of Apocalyptic Love. Same as it ever was. Same as it ever was. I’m sure that footage will surface somewhere along the line.
Our work with Michael ‘Elvis’ Baskette has been a blast. He’s been a lot of fun to have around and doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty within the pre production process. All of the songs have taken on a new life under his whip. I’m enjoying every minute of this. Our engineer, Jef Moll, is a genius. This is an amazing team.
Gonna be monstrous!

I think Myles is great at doing the Izzy thing for Slash.
Yeah, he has a unique style, unusual chord choices and complements him quite well. However, I still rank Gilby's work on Snakepit I on par with Izzy's stuff on Appetite. 5 O'Clock is a helluva guitar album, it's still in my all time top 10.

Cant stand the singing
Slash is great, but I agree that Lita's not too good. Axl was a monster on this track, back on TSI and I always wanted to hear it live by them. Unfortunately all we've got is this Lita Ford version, 20+ years later. Still better than not having it at all. Lenny Kravitz or Baz would have sung it better, but I'd settle with a Myles version on the next tour. His voice isn't vicious enough, but hey, I can make compromises.

All guitars on the Album will be Slash again. He likes it like that. Plus I think it forces him to get even better at rhythm and song writing.
Last time both Slash and Myles played rhythm. I like Myles' guitar skills a lot, he's a good second guitarist to Slash.
However I really hope that the album's mixing will be much better and especially cleaner. Not SlashI sterile clean, but less muddy than AL. Somewhere in the middle. I'd also welcome a more energic mix of drum n' bass.
