Typical England. Had I known about the never won an opening match statistic I'd have changed my prediction. If there's something England never do in tournaments you can be sure they will continue not to do it. Now that it's so easy to progress to the next round I could totally see them flunking out completely. Or end up like third and meet Germany in the next round.

I don't love late starts myself, but I do like late shows and being a GN'R fan I just expect to maybe wait for a couple of hours.

You missed a cracker in the first. So many big goal scoring chances.
Openers tend to be cautious, so this was definitely an A game. France had some amazing attacking play before they lost confidence. Pogba and Payet could be the big players in this tournament. Romania was also good, but impotent in attack. Their biggest chance apart from the penalty was a corner. Worked very hard though, if France had done the same they would have wrapped up the game in the first half.
If this sets the tone it's going to be a great cup.

Germany reach the final 55% of the time they participate, so besides being my favorite team it's the best bet in a cup where no teams have stood out in the run up.
With none of the big teams lighting any fires, this cup is for the taking for an outsider. I expect quite a few surprises.
