As for Axl/Dc in the studio....
1995: Ballbreaker
2000: Still Upper Lip
2008: Black Ice
2014: Rock or Bust
The model is to do an album then a 2 year world tour then take 3 or so years off.
So if Axl/DC was going to drop a record I think we wouldn't expect it until 2021 or so.

Yeah I was trying to avoid the CD songs cos of the topic....but if we're going there I have the following wishlist:
Madagascar - featuring a blues based Slash solo in the middle rather than a cover of the old solo
Riad - I think this one would be really metal with Slash's input.
Catcher and Street of Dreams would be interesting too.

He went "on the record" a few years ago saying he had no desire to release another GNR album because albums don't matter anymore.
Exactly.
I mean I agree broadly with his stance on downloading - I think the long term effect of making paying for music optional is that once a band has a successful past there's less motivation to create new works. A good example is Metallica - actually about to drop a new album this year but have been playing festivals and hits shows every summer for the past 8 years since their last album. I think we will see more and more of that.
So although I see his point, to play AFD himself each show, publicly brag that there's no point attempting to move forward as a band, and generally trade off the old band's reputation for the past 20 years, it seems a bit odd to call out the actual songwriters for wanting to return to their own band and play the same material.
I knew we were never getting it when Ashba joined but most hardcore fans still had some faith.
I thought it was the opposite to be honest.
Love him or hate him DJ is actually quite useful to bands in the studio.
He co-wrote a lot of "Saints of LA" with Motley Crue - and I think he did a good job there of modernising the production but essentially putting out a classic feeling Motley Crue record - like capturing the style.
Additionally, although their hybrid sound isn't for everyone, he's done several records with Sixx:Am and been quite important to the development of those.
So I thought him joining might have given Axl the creative spark to finish up CD2.

I voted excited as I think it will kick ass musically.
It's hard for me though as I'd say my top favourite lead singers are Axl, Steven Tyler, and Brian Johnston. Additionally Brian is by all accounts a complete gentleman - so it's heartbreaking to hear of Brian's health issues, and anger-inspiring to hear the suggestion that Angus isn't treating him like he should.
In terms of GNR I see this as a risk. Not because Axl can't do it - as with his current form I think he will smash it out of the park - but because of how sensitive it seems Axl is to negativity and positivity with fans. At the moment Axl seems to be on a high and almost all our fan base is positive about him reuniting with Slash. However ACDC may be a hostile audience the likes of which he hasn't seen since Slash first left. So I hope he's psychologically prepared for a bit of fan abuse and media scorn.
Hopefully the fact that he loves the band himself will help, also hopefully the people who do go to the shows are the people who are open to letting this happen and the truely angry people will have got refunds.
So I'm worried about it because it's crazy. But I also think it's going to be great.

If we only get one I'm going to call for "The Garden"
Out of the covers I'd go with "Hair of the Dog" as it would be great with Axl's current rasp.
I sort of want to cheat and have a new-slash version of "Oh My God" also but I know it was performed in 2001 so I suppose it technically fails the "pre-2001" test - but it has been a good (bad) 15 years
#1566 Re: Guns N' Roses » New Guns N Roses member Melissa Reese » 525 weeks ago
Obviously there's some aspects of this designed to make a shit load of money.
However to me it's not a "cash grab" unless there's no effort displayed to do new-things.
This tour Slash has learned the Chinese Democracy songs....and Axl is busting out formally rare stuff like There Was A Time, Coma, Yesterdays etc
He also seems to be using more rasp than he had since 2009.
So it seems to me like they're trying again....so I won't call it a cash grab.
That said...I'd love to see the band more forward - like as shit cool as this stuff is...it's all based in the past....coma....attitude....the godfather....it's kinda re-doing UYI. I'd love to see them drop a new single or something and start a new phase.

I think you're both right on the screams.
I agree with misterID to an extent in that it gave me chills too. So nice to hear Axl with rasp again, and I enjoyed Slash's cover of bucket's solo - so it was a phenomenal version.
That said Apex-Twin is spot on that the scream was less than 2009 levels. Although I'd say the overall vocals and rasp were more prominent in the other parts of the song. But as far as the screams in the middle - Axl didn't perform the super high note - from memory it's a g#6 or something insane like that. He sang that word a couple of notes lower yesterday.
Listen to this scream in 2009 and then last nights and you can hear what I mean:
That said. It's an amazing performance anyway. Lets hope at some point later in the tour he nails it. It's worth noting that yesterdays version was well above 2014 levels.

WHAT THE FUCK.
He played here like 2 months ago or something in a series of surprise small piano based gigs.
He was a bit late to the stage but I hear they were wonderful shows.

The more I ponder this the more I'm filled with outrage.
Slash and Duff return to GNR to play the songs they wrote and made famous, and this guy questions their integrity while for the last 20 years he has been playing those same songs under the original band name even though he had nil to do with their creation.
#1570 Re: Guns N' Roses » 20/4/16 FORO SOL, MEXICO CITY, MEXICO » 525 weeks ago
That said I don't think the band have ever had anyone play a direct album rip of the solo
Ron played the solo pretty close here in 2014 I think:
But I must say I'm enjoying this slash version immensely
