Cool I really like that song!

For a UYI show I don't think you can go past the energy of this performance, no wonder it ended in a riot (St Louis). Axl was spitting venom as he sang the first song Perfect Crime. Seems like something really set him off, he looked mega wound up!
I would love to see some kickass passion and energy like that again!

I agree regarding the business side, they would have no say at all. Consequently they are probably kept in the dark until the last mintue with things and from what Ron has said in the past he likes it that way.
I also get the impression that Ron (and probably the others too) want to record new music with Axl, but again he gets no say in that.
#1585 Re: Guns N' Roses » Bumblefoot interview » 822 weeks ago
I would imagine Ron is probably getting pretty tired of answering the same old questions. I gotta admit he has more tolerance than I would, by now I would have snapped from being Mr Nice guy and just said STFU.
He's in a shit position really, he probably wants to do and say a lot more but it's out of his hands. I have heard his "employer" can be a real wanker if he gets his back up so I'll cut him some slack
#1586 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Steven Adler Biography » 822 weeks ago
Yeah I just got it locally here at Dymocks.
I was always going to pick it up too despite any negative reviews since he was one of the band members so I'm interested to hear what he has to say, irrespective of how drug fucked he is/was.
Hmm didn't know about the download thingy?
#1587 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Steven Adler Biography » 822 weeks ago
Well I finished Adler's book a couple of days ago (only took me 3 days to read it). Will admit to being pretty underwhelmed with the whole book, although I'm not suprised that I am.
Adler's upbringing and his early days was the only new stuff to me. Sounds like he was always a handful and irresponsible. Beyond that there really were no great insights or anything else for that matter.
Even the "sex and drug stuff" there was nothing entertaining in a "Motley Crue - The Dirt" type of manner. In the end all it consisted of was Stevie wanting to "party" all the time while his life continued to slip away. The way the book finished and knowing loosely where he is at now via the net and articles etc, I don't see why things will be different now and he won't relapse. He didn't share any massives "break throughs" that he achieved so I don't see why the current stint of being sober will end any differently to the previous?? Although I hope I'm wrong there.
Regarding him getting kicked out again there wasn't a lot of details. Other than Adler continuing to be carefree/happy go lucky and "partying" all the time as they started having success. Then suddenly he claims Duff and Slash started distancing themselves from him then BANG he's out of the band. But then I wouldn't imagine he would be capable of remembering too many details due to the drugs.
Whilst he sticks his hand up and somewhat takes responsibility for his situation due to his drug abuse etc, there are some conflicting vibes in his whole story. I still get the feeling that he blames the other guys somewhat and feels that he isn't completely responsible.
As someone else pointed out, it's a shame also he didn't mention anything about his meeting with Axl in Vegas (or whereever it was) more recently.
I found it funny too that he thought The Key Club semi reunion/AFD 20th Anniversary was awesome. The vibe I got from the whole thing was it was slightly embarassing. Interesting he also said that the reason Slash didn't play was because he didn't want to piss off Axl and jeopardise any chance of a reunion.
In summary I hope Adler is able to stay clean. As for the book as you would expect there isn't any great insights and even from a superficial story telling point of view it's pretty boring. There is hardly even any intersting ancedotes (real or imagined) that I hadnt' heard.

Cheers, I ordered one for the Sydney gig then - they aren't cheap though
#1590 Re: Guns N' Roses » what does Axl/GNR have to, to regain your interest 100% » 824 weeks ago
Well I saw GNR for the first time in 2007 (I wasn't lucky enough to see them in 1988 or 1993 when they previously came to Oz). Finally I got to see Axl live, I caught the show in my town and flew east to catch 2 more shows.
Now I am more excited about flying to Sydney to see Slash in a couple of weeks (having also never seen him play live before).
Once that is done I won't be going out of my way to see either of them again unless they are playing in my town at a reasonable price. I certainly wouldn't fork out $$'s to travel anywhere again to see them unless they were onstage together (i.e. reunion)! If that occured then I would certainly shell out big $$'s to try and get to see them.
I will continue to listen to the music from both of them and follow their careers. but I can honestly say that I do so with nowhere near the same level of interest as before. I just don't feel there is any magic left for me. The only thing that could get me 100% interested again is the obvious. But even then for it to hold my interest it would have to be more than a one off cash grab tour. If they had Izzy and genuienly wanted to write and release another album then I would be 100% on board.
Once I see Slash play in a couple of weeks I will have seen both of them live so that curiosity factor will be gone for me. Going forward I will still wonder what new music each can produce. Obviously we have heard the music that each produce since they parted ways and there is stuff I really like from both of them. But it's not the same and never will be. Even if they were together again it probably wouldn't be - but I would love to see them try. That is the only "X factor" left for me that could really pique my interest again.
