Didn't he also say he'd consider a female singer for VR at one point too?

I think so.

Also did those songs with Fergie and Nicole so he doesn't seem adverse to working with women these days I guess.

I just remembered that quote when Jessica raised the theoretical possibility of intra-gnr relations....man I feel dirty just typing that....;)

My only wish is that no one in the band touches her so the band can get on with music and not recreate problems.

I remember a quote from Slash in some interview long long ago when asked why he doesn't have girls in any of his bands and he said something like "It's not about talent, it's that someone in the band always ends up having sex with the girl, and someone else in the band always ends up not liking it"

That's paraphrased but pretty much what he said.

Vegas Reunion Night 1 - April 8th Show - Slash is messing around on guitar before rocket queen and plays a lick with a sort of reverb thing happening that is very like the opening notes of rhiad.

Someone posted a good audio recording of the first show on the other forum. Slash is definitely playing the riff of Riad clear as day multiple times before the band starts the jam/Rocket Queen.

There's members of audience that pick up on it right away as well.

Cool...i remember heating it during the stream and flipping out but then it turned into rocket...good to know i'm not entirely nuts.

I'd LOVE to hear a Slash version of Riad...I love Axl's vocals on it...and I think with Slash on guitars it would turn into a really heavy song.

Even when the cast comes off I don't see him running around for a long while.

yeah...has he actually run since those falls he took a couple of years ago? I forget when but remember he wound up using a cane and posting shots of this massive bruise to the internet - his whole leg was like black.

Rough review this one anyway, I mean I dunno what they expect of the guy, he broke his foot and he did his best to go on, what else could be do.

But the prices... fuck... the prices man.

This fills me with dread as normally in Australia shows are a lot more expensive than the international versions. Part of it is recouping for the travel distance but a good part of it is just price gouging cos they can. If it costs that much there I can only imagine what it will cost when it finally comes down under.

I said we call out other members for their douchery.

I know you said we do, but I was just illustrating that actually most on here don't very often. Or at least not to the same extent.

I never said Matt was a saint, I'm sure he has his dick moments sometimes, like the rest of us, but I dispute the suggestion that he's dramatically worse than anyone else. It seems to me many in the band have their problematic histories but he overlook it because the band is better with them in.

polluxlm wrote:

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but it is possible Slash is the one who don't want Matt in a reunion.

It's possible. Although they do play together in Kings of Chaos sometimes, but then I've always been suspicious about how they never got VR up and running again that maybe they've all had a bit much of each other.

A related suspicious theory is that Myles had previously been suggested by Matt for VR but he wasn't free at the time. Then Slash bails on VR to go do his all star album and talks Myles into a couple of songs. However after that tour they could have brought Myles back to VR rather than launch conspirators and write "apocalyptic love", yet they didn't. So the decision to stay out of VR always interested me....Slash said a few times he needed to captain his own ship or something which I always wondered if it was a polite way of saying he was sick of having to share decisions with Matt and Duff.

When the lead singer and the lead guitarist have a beef with you, there's a good chance you're not getting called up.

Does Axl have a beef though? I thought they settled it somewhere in 2006 by sharing a limo ride home or something.

Well not to want to get into this again, but Erin herself got arrested a few years ago for domestic violence and a restraining order put on her by her husband/child.

A woman going to her rapist's shows and enjoying it? Not buying it. I think she withdrew the charges because they were BS. He hit her in the heat of the moment and that's it, imo.

I don't think either of those things necessarily mean it didn't happen. Many victims of abuse later mirror the behaviour on others. Both Stephanie and Erin said Axl abused them - would seem odd that they both were secretly the ones doing the violence. But if we wan't to talk about anecdotal evidence - everything suggests Axl has an occasional rage problem. I'd be more likely to believe they were lying if we hadn't seen Axl go off at photographers, on stage and whatever else. Lets face it - it might be sad - but it's also not exactly hard to believe.

Likewise Erin going to a show 20 something years later doesn't mean anything - perhaps it was facing her fear or empowerment - or maybe she still loves him anyway - many victims of abuse stay with guys who regularly beat the hell out of them and it's hard for their families to watch.

Mind you we also don't know it happened for sure. But my point is these types of skeletons exist for other members of the band but are overlooked for the great musical good, but for Sorum there's anecdotal evidence that he's sometimes a little over confident and blunt yet he's demonised on here.

All will be revealed when or if there's an album drop I think!

He did act like a real jerk at the Hall of Fame. Pretty sure he talked longer than either Slash or Duff, which is ridiculous. And then he insulted Adler as well during his speech.

I'll rewatch it tonight to see if my opinion changes but I actually took his speech as pro-adler at the time. He pointed out how it was odd that adler was fired form GnR for drugs....by druggies....which if anything was more a comical dig at Slash/Duff than insulting adler.

I actually thought it was a good approach to use humour to make light of the situation rather than be too serious about the drama of the past. Don't forget Adler back in the day had made many spiteful comments towards Matt as he directed his anger at being replaced towards Matt initially.

Also Matt and Steven have a jovial relationship these days. Look how Adler praises Matt as the best brownstone drummer ever...and then waits a beat before dropping the "except for me!". Pretty Funny.
