I hate having to sign up to a website just to view the vid - I refuse to do that!!
I really liked those Rose Bar vids - they were some of the coolest GNR vids I have seen for a while. But as for other backstage stuff, unless there is a lot of Axl in them (is he in these other vids you sign up for?), I don't have a lot of interest in them. To be honest I would be more interested in all the UYI Tour/backstage footage that's in their vaults than this stuff.
At this stage from this lineup I am only mainly interested in a concert near me or new music.

Well I tried to watch those vids but couldn't find them. I clicked on Tommy's website and there was only the accoustic rehursal in NY which I watched a while ago. I looked all over the website for other vids?
Where are the "2 new videos" that you talk about madagas? Do I have to join the website to see them?
Re peoples interest, I think GNR are finally starting to do the right things (communicating more, touring etc) and actually are even in danger of looking like a real band and a cohesive unit at times. What probably hurts them is that I feel and probably many others is that this is how NuGNR should have been from the start - from day one. People have wanted them to act somewhat like a normal band for years and years and years. Now they are finally doing it, it's probably anticlimatic, it's kinda like - hmmm well! Maybe it's too late for a lot of people?
I don't know, I'm just speculating. Personally I find the whole thing a bit anticlimatic to be honest. The fact as others have pointed out they are touring in places that have zero relevance to me probably has an impact. I mean in 2007 when they toured Oz I was pumped. I went to the show in my state then spent lots of $$'s flying to 2 others shows on the east coast.
That feels like an age ago now - maybe my interest will be piqued if I hear they are coming down here again or that we are actually getting new music.

Do you have a copy of "Live and Let Die" on 2" tape that I could borrow?
What size tape is this? Do you mean like a small DAT?
What do you want to do with it?

And I like to listen to the songs and read along with the lyrics and commit them to memory. I haven't had a chance to do that with this album since the lyrics weren't included. That could be a reason some of these songs just aren't sticking with me. I can't really sing along to many of them. Lyrics could certainly change that, or at least help.
That's a good point, I hadn't thought about it but it's definitely something I do - listen to the songs now and then and read along with the lyrics. As you say it helps commit them to memory and also can ensure the song sticks in your head.

Here's some pics of an unusual purchase I recently made for my GNR collection:
It's a Studio Master Tape of Live and Let Die recorded on the 1/12/1990 at the RecordPlant recording studios 1032 North Sycamore Hollywood, it also includes full track recording notes.

Ive never once bought a CD for the "Packaging"
Me either, but other than Chi Dem and now Slash I havent' bought a CD in ages. But I used to buy them all the time. But I haven't stop listening to music
If they want people to still buy physical copies you gotta try and give people some bang for their buck, because unless you were IT illiterate and didn't know how to download a song/album there is not really many reasons to purchase CD's anymore.
So having lyrics, maybe a DVD etc etc has to be considered with packaging these days.

Nahh Slash solo stuff falls out of the "official collection stuff" for me, so I'm gonna open it up, when/if it arrives.
I am making myself feel better by having a rant on the CR blog (like tonnes of other people). As one person pointed out, CR really have shot their own concept in the foot by screwing this pre order up. What's worse is the silence from them has been deafening.

Vicki Hamilton is a strange one?
So there is no lyrics - I think that is lame. In this day and age when you have to be fucken lucky if someone even bothers to buy your album as opposed to stealing it over the net, you have to give them something better for the dollars in the form of the physical copy.
