#1711 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » bonus songs » 839 weeks ago
I really hate shit like this with pre orders and stuff. I ordered the Classic Rock with the album because I thought that was supposed to come out a month earlier that the official release. Yet now people are already walking into stores picking up the album, AND getting more bonus tracks than I am going to get, whenever the fuck the thing arrives.
I fucken hate that shit!!!!

I'm curious if anybody that ordered the special Classic Rock edition with the Slash album has their copy yet?
It was due to be released on 7th April from memory - just wondering how long it might take for it to make it's way down to this end of the Earth?

Yeah people seem to seriously over estimate the interest in these things. Personally I couldn't give a flying fuck about them but I can see how some people might be interested in tinkering around with them.
Beyond that though, they really don't have the value that these people seem to be placing on them. I still get a laugh that secret squirrel games continue to go on. "GNR lawyers", "stopping progres of hundereds of other songs" blah blah blah. I am sure the only people that care are the dozen or so egg heads that are directly involved in trying to lie, cheat and steal each other out of these things. Outside of them the rest of the world don't care!
If you've got em then just dump em onto the forums then move on with your life. If they appear that's great some people will enjoy listening and playing with them. But if they don't nobody is gonna lose any sleep over it.
#1714 Re: Guns N' Roses » DJ Ashba - A Day In The Life » 840 weeks ago
As DCK pointed out, it's pretty ironic that he threw a bottle at the guy.
I think its rude to continually go on stage late, if that happens at my concert can I throw bottles at the band then? I mean my friends will be at the concert and they will also feel disrespected by the late start "for no reason". Maybe we could also put our foot through some of the equipment there too.
I actually like DJ but he came accross as a total ass in that tweet, not a tough guy or a bad ass rocker. I would keep an event like that to myself if I were him.
#1715 Re: Guns N' Roses » DJ Ashba - A Day In The Life » 840 weeks ago
Yeah when I read that tweet it sounded to me like DJ was the one that acted like the biggest dick out of the situation.
So the guy was rude that still doesn't warrant throwing your beer bottle at him. If you don't like the service LEAVE, or make a complaint to his manager.
I hope he felt like a big man afterwards. I would imagine the bartender was fired because the guy from GNR said he was rude - no further questions asked by his managers. Nice work, you just used your position/influence to cost a guy his job, because he was apparently rude. Lets hope he doesn't have a family that was relying on that income.

We use (or used) PAL in Oz although the more expensive VCR's gave you the option to play NTSC and PAL.
True there is some pretty explicit stuff in the book that Lisbeth goes through!
Yeah I read an article/interview with his wife - well defacto. Sounds like Stieg's family totally fucked her over when they saw the $ signs. Whilst she wasn't legally entitled to anything under Swedish laws they were together for years and years so it appears that morally his family haven't exactly acted appropriately. Plus they have raked in millions from these books and now the film. I mean how much is enough??? They could easily give the woman a few million dollars and still have millons left for themself.
I know his wife was concerned about maintaing the artist integrity of the characters when the book was being translated to film. But according to her opinion Stieg's father and brother didn't give a toss about those sort of things and just pushed ahead as quickly as possible chasing the dollars. I read that Stieg's wife is putting out a book with her side of the story too.

Aussie wrote:I have just been bought Steig Larsson's trilogy of books and have only just opened the first one "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo".
Anybody read this before? Any feedback?
Yes, it's great. You're lucky as the third part of the Trilogy isn't due to hit the US until May. There have been 3 movies made from the books. The first one "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" got 4 stars from Roger Ebert. I think an American remake is being planned with David Fincher slated to direct it. At least that's the rumor I read.
I thought the first book (Dragon Tattoo) was slightly better than the follow up "The Girl who played with Fire."
I have actually now finished reading the first two books and have just started the third. I didn't realise it wasn't out in the US yet. We had friends over from Norway staying with us and I think they bought them for me presumably at the airport at Heathrow since there is a pound price tag on the book. I'm not sure if the third one is out yet in Australia either.
I heard they were doing a US version of the Dragon Tattoo. I was also told that the existing movie versions of the Dragon Tattoo don't even give you the option for an English subtitle, which seems a bit strange.
I enjoyed both of the first two books and read them really quickly which is unusual for me. I did find that Steig Larsson at times is overly descriptive with things, he explains the setting or actions of the characters down to the minutest almost irrelevant detail. I also struggle to keep track of who some of the minor characters are since the Swedish names don't resonate with me and then they will switch between using their first name and second name - coupled with the fact that there are so many damn characters!!!
I am into the third book now and interested to see how it all finishes. From reading the books they seem as if they lend themselves well to a movie of each so I will be interested to see how the US version of Dragon Tattoo works.

Here is a video of an interview Richard Wilkins did this week with Slash on the Today show:
http://today.ninemsn.com.au/?videoid=ca … 9cd34b9a53
Two things I found strange - first he said the album is out this Friday (I thought it was 7th April for the Classic Rock pre release and May for the normal one). Ssecond was he said Slash was going to be in Australia for a month promoting the album??? A month is a fucken long time in one country our size??
BTW - Richard Wilkins looks like an asian cat, how much plastic surgery has the guy had on his face! His eyes look like Sam Newmans.

Sheesh that was bloody difficult to read! All the spelling errors, lack of punctuation and ass kissing bullshit was tedious! Man the guy just rambles on and on and on almost incoherently - is he on drugs?
No wonder fuck all ever got done once good ole Dougie took over.
