#1871 Re: Guns N' Roses » Fortus and Ferrer's New Band The Compulsions (Slams Chi Dem) » 872 weeks ago
just saw this post from Jarmo:
Clarification from Frank:
While he's at home in New York, he plays with a bunch of artists. One band he plays with is The Compulsions. The Compulsions is Rob Carlyle's band and he happens to be a friend of Frank's. They have a cd out that's been reviewed by a bunch of people. Some like it, some don't.
Frank loves GN'R, he's proud to be on Chinese Democracy and he stands behind the work on that cd.
Axl, his family and the rest of the band have always treated him as a full band member from the first day he set foot on that GN'R stage.
/jarmo
The thing that concerns me with the above statement is it still doesn't say "Frank and Richard" are still in the band"!!!!
I'm sure they were probably treated well by Axl, I'm sure he's proud of his work on CD but one of the obvious conculsions from that myspace is that perhaps Frank and Richard have parted ways with GNR. But that response is conspiciously silent on that matter.
Maybe there is nothing to be a part of anymore. Perhaps they were told we'll call you when/if something happens but bascially move on now because it could be years if at all when something next happens???

I think it's a great interview and I like the depth of some of this answers particuarly his specific contributions on each song etc etc.
Hat's off to him for also speaking on his video Q&A.
Cheers for taking the time Ron (no need to punch this poster in the balls I'm pleased with what you divulged).

^ Yep

Umm judging by the comments on that myspace Frank and Fortus are done with GNR. If they're not then that myspace page certainly isn't helping their tenure in the band even though it wasn't them that wrote it directly.

And, a big swipe at Chinese Democracy from their MySpace page:
THE COMPULSIONS: BEEN THROUGH HELL EP
by Dan RoweIT IS TIME FOR THE FRACTURED TRIBE OF ROCK N' ROLL TO UNITE
BEHIND ITS LEADERAt long last, rock n' roll exists in its post-Chinese Democracy era. While many were hoping that release would save the form, a wave of letdown swelled when it became clear Axl Rose's true intent was to try and reinvent this kind of music instead of rescuing it. Ultimately, that album stands as a musical eyesore, failing at both these purposes, because it lacks the two things Been Through Hell has in spades--songs and being "of the moment."
As an effective songwriter, innovation should never come at the expense of communication.
While the songwriting techniques Carlyle employs are generally rather straightforward and classic, the now-or-never urgency seeping through every pore of this latest Compulsions release captures the weariness and frustration most of the world is breathing in on a minute-to-minute basis profoundly. This is dark music being made out of a dark time in our history that still somehow gives us reason to rejoice a little, or at least dance around the fire.
So, to everyone who sat on their hands nearly two decades waiting for the miracle that was never going to show up, listen carefully: it is time for the fractured tribe of rock n' roll to unite behind its leader; there are no more excuses. That leader is the same as it was five years ago, and the same as it was last year--nobody goes big like the Compulsions. This is the band that can save FM radio.

Maybe when it comes closer to being released I'll get a little more excited about it. But I could care less about reading about what a wicked guitar riff he layed down in the studio today.
I somewhat agree with what you are saying. Hearing about a killer guitar riff or something that was just layed down is a bit of a cock tease this far out from the record.
I'm casually interested to know who is going to be on it, maybe some info on tracks and styles. But until we are much closer to the release date I'm not particularly excited about it.
Hearing that yet another good session was just done and another killer guitar track was just recorded is a bit like listening to Bach bleating on about how mind blowing CD was months/years prior to us having any chance of hearing it.
#1877 Re: The Garden » The ins and outs of relationships...what does it all mean>? » 872 weeks ago
I don't know if there is anything that particularly makes a relationship work. There are certainly things that make sure a relationship doesn't work - with many of those things being what Neemo and other people listed.
Whether a relationship works really comes down to where the two individuals are at in their lives and their headspace. If the relatationship is good AND both parties are ready for the long term and the next step, then I think it works. If one party for whatever reason isn't in that headspace yet it ultimately will never work.
I finally got married at age 34 approx 3 months ago. I just felt ready for it, I couldn't really put my finger on one thing in particular but for me it was time. Fortunately I was with a girl that was also of a similar mind. I had just had enough of going out picking up girls and living like a selfish Bachelor. There's nothing wrong with that as I had done it for a long time and had a lot of fun, but I was ready for other things eg. kids and other stability and security that comes from making a life with someone.
I had been in relationships with other girls in the past that wanted that whole fairytale but I wasn't ready so it never happened and the relationships just sort of ran its course. Similarly, there was one or two girls that I thought longer terms plans with, but for whatever reason they weren't on that wavelength so it also never happened.
Mitchejw I don't think it gets easier as you get older but perhaps you get more clarity about what you want out of a relatinonship. Consequently you become a bit more clinical and analytical about how things are going. If you are happy with just taking things how it comes etc then you may not mind the games she is playing. But if you are at a point where you would like to find a relationship that could be a long lasting one you will find yourself being less tolerant to being jerked around like you are.
#1878 Re: Guns N' Roses » The Positive CD Thread » 872 weeks ago
The last TWAT solo (obviously) is probably the highlight for me. But I also really like a couple of the less traditional rocker songs, like If the World and Sorry. Particularly Sorry it would be interesting to see him explore that genre of music a little more in some fashion at some point.
Some of the guitar work in Catcher has finally sucked me in too and I have played that one a fair bit.

^ That would be something really interesting James, I never thought about that - doing a song with BH.
Imagine how pissed Axl would be
#1880 Re: Guns N' Roses » Fernando's link to leaks? And the craziness that is gnr » 873 weeks ago
2. Someone on this forum found the "Barbara ann cogill" link on facebook, didn't they? Who was she married to? That was definitely something interesting, but then again, wouldn't the FBI have gone after that right away? Skwerl knows who gave him the 9 songs, and I think we'll find out eventually.
Bridget Ann Coghill is the name of Doug Goldstein's fiance. I found the link thru facebook.
Even if that link is coincidence (plus the spelling of Coghill is with an "h"), you need to look at motive. Who would have the motive to do it?
Merck - maybe if he was fucked over by Axl.
Goldstein - I believe he was fucked over by Axl so there would be motive. Plus he finally parted in 2002 (even though he was apparently on the outer much earlier than that) so he was there long enough to have been able to get his hands on the 2002 version of the album (or at least demos for it).
UMG - I would say they probably had all the motive in the world to leak shit and try and get things happening after so many years.
GNR Camp - perhaps someone that may be a shareholder of Blackfrog (other than Axl obviously) may have had motive to get something happening and get some $$'s turning through that publishing company.
