I can say it wasn't me.  Funny story.  Though I think most of the fights we've had here would never be as bad in person, I wonder if anything ever would have come to blows...  I'm not a fighter at all, but I could have seen myself losing it on jimbob back in the day.

Sometimes I think Myles looks happier just playing the guitar than he does singing.  I noticed that at the show I was at too.

At the end of the day, it's personal taste. I think the songs are perfect the way they are and I can't see Slash, DJ or anyone else doing a better job on these songs. NOt saying they couldn't do a good job, but to me, I like the songs the way they are. And Slash's solo work, which is what I'm going on, doesn't mesh with the songs on CD.

For clarification purposes, are you saying that Axl could have sang on any of Slash's post GnR suff and it would have been better?

Awesome - glad you had a good time.  Outside of Metallica, which band did you enjoy most?

Glad you enjoyed it, sounds like a good setlist, not that we wouldn't expect it to be.

And by tact you mean passive aggressive insults rather than being blunt. Gotcha.

Anyways carry on.

Do you read what you actually write?  Jesus Bono - you automatically insult anybody that has the nerve to have a different opinion than yours.  It's not like you even say that's crazy - no, you go right to insulting the person.  We all (well many of us at least) do it from time to time, but you do it pretty much every single time.

I don't mind taking subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) digs at people, but I try to avoid being flat out insulting.  People can choose to ignore sutle; it's pretty hard to ignore you when you make posts directly insulting 4 or 5 people in the same post.

Half of what I do here is just for fun.  I admit it.  It's a stress release for me.  I'm nowhere near as big of an ass in real life as I am here.  I'm actually extremely laid back and I don't really care about or get excited or upset about much of anything.  Maybe that's your thing too...I don't know.

I just want to repost this because some people may have forgotten the reality of the situation.

I like Bono.  I agree with much of what he says and his opinions aren't that far off from mine on most things GnR related.

But...his posting style leaves a LOT to be desired.  When people like me that usually agree with what he's saying are calling him out for posting like an ass, there's probably something to it.  I've gotten into my share of scrapes with people, but even at the worst of times (at least since that porn guy the loved Robin left) my worst posts were nicer than Bono's posts where he's trying to be nice.  He's been asked over and over again not to be disruptive with his posts, but it happens over and over again.  It's not what he's saying; it's how he's saying it.  That's not good for the site.  It's not just bothering some of the leadership here; it's bothering regular posters too.  Again, I usually agree with what he's saying, but the way he says everything is just over the top rude when anyone has a different opinion.  I certainly wouldn't want to hang out with someone like that in real life and I sure the hell don't need to do it for a hobby.

You guys do whatever you think you need to do, but remember there's a price to pay for every decision.  If you think the site is better off with a loudmouth, opinionated guy that can't seem to state an opinion without offending someone ever than it is with the guy that's kept it afloat for the last 2 years, then so be it.  I'm all for free speech, but there are consequences that come along with that.  You can say whatever you want, but you're still responsible for what you say.  I can't believe there's even a decision to be made when it comes to banning one asshat poster (no matter who it is) or basically shitting on the guy that kept this place alive when it should have died a long time ago.

Based on how it turned out, I'd say he would have been as right as Axl was about the Snakepit stuff.

The music would be different if he was playing it; that's the point you seem to be ignoring.  Look at his first solo album (regardless of what you think of the quality of the songs)...each song sounded like a song by that singer's band with a Slash solo on it.  The songs would be different, and as jumbled as they ended up on the album I can't see any way they couldn't be better.  There would be no Shackler's (thank God...the only absolutely horrible song on the album) - there would be more of a Slither or Just Sixteen type song instead.  There would be no Better.  There would be songs in their place that fit Slash better, and as a result it would be an overall better album.  The epics would still be there with Slash on them.  That's it.  You're making it out to be way more than it is because you personally like the album.  You can't criticize intercourse for being blinded by his personal feelings without recognizing how yours have clouded your views on the subject.

#1878 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Bring Back Robin Finck "Tank" » 689 weeks ago

But the question is would he have come up with something like those other songs for the songs you're referring to?  I just don't understand how someone can claim to like his pre 1993 work and proceed to say he's incapable of doing something as good or better today when paired with the person he created that magic with.  Thinking it's unlikely?  Okay.  You're pretty much saying it's not possible, and as messed up as CD is as a guitar album, I'd say whatever he did in most cases is clearly going to be better than what ended up on the album.  I think it's impossible not to be outside of TWaT.

Or I could have just quoted monkey's post had I read it before typing mine...

Ummm....

Axl writes the ballads, like Novermber Rain, Slash adds the emotional solos.

Slash writes the guitar songs like Civil War, Axl adds the killer vocals.

So...surprise....when they work separately....Axl doesn't have rockers on the level of Slash's rockers, and Slash doesn't have ballads on the level of Axl's ballads....

I seriously can't believe anyone doubts this? You think "By the Sword" wouldn't be better with Axl's words too? Come on....they're two sides of the same coin.

But we're talking about fit. Just ignoring the fact these songs wouldn't exist with Slash in the band and there's a chance he wouldn't want to play on them, I don't see it meshing on the level that it would be better than what's there.

If someone can show me a song off his last two solo albums that are the level of TWAT, or would be similar, I'd like to hear it. I'm being serious here.

That's not fair either.  I would say show me a song on CD that rocks as hard as Slither and you couldn't do it.  The guys had different strengths, so to knock a guy for not writing something at the level of TWaT by himself when he's never shown the desire to do so is crazy just as it's crazy to expect Axl to come up with a killer rock song by himself.  That isn't in their DNA.  Axl would make a whole album of Elton John/Queen/Paul McCartney piano epics if someone would let him, and I bet most of the hardcores like us would love it.  If he put out an album of all rockers, I'm not sure I'd be interested.  That just isn't what he does.  I don't think I'd want an album of Slash piano ballads either...
