20 years today, the world's best band played its last show. Tired after the 30 months of touring, but still vital and passionate. I see no strangers or enemies here.
"Cause I see the storm getting closer
And the waves they get so high
Seems everything we've ever known's here
Why must it drift away and die"
RIP Guns N' Roses, the band I loved so much.

The whole AFD, their defining and breakthru album is riff based. Heavily.
Also, the G side of GN'R Lies is very riff based. Even Crazy and OIAM from the R side.
UYI has a lot of riff based songs, too. Locomotive, Coma, Bad Apples, Don't Damn Me, Garden of Eden, DTJ, Back Off Bitch, Perfect Crime, RNDTH, Pretty Tied Up, YCBM... and Slash's solo career's whole catalogue (minus the guest appearances) is a riff fest. I don't know how anyone could miss it.
FYI Aerosmith and Rolling Stones are also riff bands. They were, when they mattered, anyway.

Paul Tobias? His songwriting was weak, his playing was awful. Being Axl's friend does not equal with music talent. I don't even understand this Tobias cult some seem to believe in. Even Tommy admitted that Tobias' ideas sucked. I guess the hidden purpose is to bash Slash's songwriting skill once again, like he would have needed a bedroom guitarist to come up with anything worthy. FYI Paul Tobias couldn't be even a guitar tech in Slash's band. A terrible guitarist and his involvement in GN'R is one of the saddest chapters of the music history.

That's true, but his intention was clear. Make the best album you can.
Let's say it was his intention in his better periods, when he felt the "Scraped" feel. But his working ethics still sucked time by time, and his working method made it even worse during the whole process. Axl is a lazy man, even when he wanna do something. When he loses the drive the situation becomes ...like what we've been having for years.

Yesterdays for the memory of GNREvo...

The dueling guitar parts are still there. Locomotive is a perfect example. I think they just don't sound dueling to the untrained ear because the same guitar is playing both parts.
Your perfect example is a Slash only song. Izzy doesn't play on Locomtive, it's all Slash.
#187 Re: Dust N' Bones & Cyborg Slunks » Myles replaces Bach in Kings of Chaos » 643 weeks ago
Do they buy Myles his own plane ticket, or does he just sneak around in Slash's suitcase you think?
It's intriguing that there is no explanation why Myles replaces Baz. Baz will be touring somewhere else? Will he be recording? Or he wanted to save his friendship with Axl (and also protect possible future touring money)? Or Slash doesn't wanna work with "Axl's puppet"? Or Slash only wanna work with Myles? Or...?

I can't hear anything, it's all silence. Probably they used the song without permission and Axl got his legal crew silence it. Hopefully. Otherwise he's the biggest whore of the rock and roll business.
Edit: my bad, I fucked it up. Not the ad, the volume control. So... I have never believed thsi could happen with this song. Axl needs to stop this shit. Now.

Can't wait to see it! It can be a really bad ass rock and roll movie!

People complain that Axl uses the old logo of a band he was in. Where are those people when Slash, Duff, Matt and a lot of other UNRELATED to GNR people, uses AXL'S VOICE on an ad to promote themselves?
Double standards..
Haven't been around for a few days (weeks?), but as one of the main critics of Axl's milking off the old band's legacy, I feel the need to respond.
I can't see the video anymore (it says "private"), but if you're right and everything point to you're being right, then I must say it sucks. Monkey was right about everything and I need to point out that Axl and his band has been doing this false promo for AGES, and it's the first occasion, as far as I remember, that other GN'R members use old material to promote current stuff. But. It still sucks and I don't want them do it anymore. They are talented and productive enough to find other ways (what about rerecording some parts of the songs for the promo? or using live performances?).
So it's not right.
