However I'd love to hear deeper cuts in Axl's voice - like Let it Roll or Sucker Train Blues.
Jeez...
That would go down as the most historic piss break in history. 3 mile long lines at the restrooms. Riots ensue.
First new song Axl has performed since 2009 or something and you'd go to the bathroom? lol
Hell..dive into Snakepit deep cuts if we're going that twilight zone route...
That would be awesome - however I see it a bit like Symphony for the Devil in terms of a political hot potato.
As for covers. The problem was more that Axl has played some songs from Chinese Democracy under 5 times ever...but played The Seeker something like 40 times.....

Anyway. Velvet Revolver: love 'em. I know Slash only tends to play Slither these days, but if GN'R were doing a VR track as a tribute to Weiland, the obvious choice is FTP. Or Messages, but that wasn't a big hit for them.
I enjoyed Scott's music so I'd love to see a GNR tribute. Yet in a way it doesn't make much sense to do a tribute to Weiland. Only 2 members of the GNR we will see played with Weiland. They only did that because they were on the outs with Axl and trying to reinvent themselves. They ended up giving up on him and firing him. Meanwhile Axl and Scott trashed each other in the press. It's sort of awkward.
If they do it I'd assume they'll do fall to pieces as it's well known and theme appropriate. However I'd love to hear deeper cuts in Axl's voice - like Let it Roll or Sucker Train Blues.

If this wasn't a cover, it'd probably be favorite track in the entire discography.
Absolutely. It's one of Axl's most amazing moments I think - which is crazy considering it was kinda a throwaway cover (in the sense that they only played it a handful of times). I wish there was a studio version - when he does that high part it's basically almost spiritual! This is the kind of thing that gives me hope too. I like to think somewhere in a vault Axl has some other cool stuff that he doesn't really consider important but that would one day see the light of day and blow my mind.

I dunno about you guys but I am really interested in the prospect of the old guys busting out some CD tunes.....there's something about it that would sort of blow my mind.
Of course I'd really like to see something new too. In a way I feel there's sort of more chance of it than before....like although this is reunion land and thus inherently retro...they sort of have something to prove I think....like that they still got it.
I just hope things lean more towards "Sailing" than "The Seeker"!

Oh yeah i forgot about that. Over here in Australia it just came out like everything.

The thing is with Slash and Duff in top form even an adequate Axl will blow away most recent shows I think. However I'd love Axl to have his rasp back...then you guys will really see something in Vegas!

On the one hand you can say this was 7 years ago, but at the same time you can say he does much better here than the 8 years between 01 and 09.
I think the majority of the 2006 shows were ok too. Especially Rock Am Ring 2006.
However I think most of 2002, 2001 was mickey, and also I didn't like most of 2011-14 era. But I think there's reason to think he might still be able to go on special occasions. But yeah I have some doubt too - don't want it to turn into Rock in Rio 2012.

He's not capable. Dunno where this faith in him is coming from. He's Mickey mouse'd the shit out of the catalogue for a decade or more now. How is he suddenly perfectly capable of delivering. He wasn't even perfectly capable of delivering after the 80's whatever got into him.
I have serious doubts too. I think he was ok in 2009 - if you look at boots from there he's still busting out some big screams and stuff - however that's the last time I thought he had real vocal power - and it was 7 years ago.
Still....a return to that is possible....as aside from LALD he seemed more mickey in 2002 than 2006....so I think it's possible he could get it back.

Velvet Revolver fucking sucked. I'd turn my back to the stage if they played that crap at a GnR show I was at.
Did you see them live?
I'm not saying they were as good as GNR but live the songs came across way better than the studio. The chemistry was one of the best live acts I've seen. Although I agree with Duff comments back in 2008 that they hadn't yet made their best record.

I'm not complaining. I just wanna see Slash and Duff embrace CD too and then that opens the way for future shows and products to have the best of all worlds. The slash line up is my favourite by far - but I also strongly like some of the CD songs - so I kinda want a world in which they co-exist. I dont wanna see them do a WWE "hogan never existed" approach.
